May 31, 2012 - Elko Georgia.
We checked into Twin Oaks RV park yesterday. Today we visited Massee Lane Gardens in Fort Valley. This is the hdqtrs of the camellia society. We didn't go thru the gardens -better to visit in Feb when camellias will be in bloom. We did see the world's largest collection of Boehm porcelain, however. It was stunning. Then we drove past pecan groves and peach orchards to Lane Southern Orchards. We took the grove tour in a 1927 replica Blue Bird school bus #1 - mfg in Ft Valley. We also enjoyed the packing line self guided tour and saw peaches...

May 29, 2012 - Day 1 to Elko, GA
The rain from Beryl all arrived in Brooksville about 3:00am this morning and hung around until about 8:30am. It rained hard enough to delay our 8:00am departure until 9:45am. The ride north was in and out of rain but no wind so other then our rocket ship departure to take advantage of a no rain window, we had a pretty good day. Just tiring and Carol is still stuffing and organizing what feels like a 1,000 pounds in a 10 pound sack. The photos are Carol's practice shots of highway signs. She missed the Entering Ga sign as it surprised us on...

Mar 28, 2008 - Transition from Summer to Early Spring
We spent last night in Elko, Georgia on our way to South Carolina. Now that we're moving north, given the weather that we are beginning to experience, we may be moving north faster than the season is moving into spring. We had an unpleasant surprise and a pleasant one yesterday upon arrival. Unpleasant- our site. Not what we expected- gritty dirt and small stone with a canopy of pines that made our sattelite disk ineffective and an unlevel site that required that we unhook the car in order to level the coach. We got spoiled by the parks in...

Sep 10, 2007 - Pigeon Forge to Elko, Georgia
We had a great day yesterday driving through the Smoky Mountains (I apologise for the incorrect speling previously but it still looks like it should have an e in it!!!) We drove to Cades Cove which sounds like it is on the coast but it isn't. Then we took an 11 mile scenic loop thugh the mountains. We knew that the Smoky Mountains has the largest population of black bears in Eastern USA s we looked out for one. Also deer are prevalent in this area. Anyway...driving round (at 30 mile an hour speed limit)wesaw some trees and some mountains...

Jun 2, 2007 - Finally on the road
After 4 tortuous days of packing out, we're finally done and will soon be on the road. We've been staying at Twin Oaks RV Park in Elko, GA, during this time and planned to leave the morning of June 1, after clearing housing. However, we had so much left to do that we decided to push everything back a day. Now, because of the weather, we have pushed everything back another day, so we're running 2 days behind schedule. Twin Oaks is a very nice RV park with a heated pool and jacuzzi. Nice tree shaded campsites with concrete pads and picnic...
