We're taking a slightly circuitous route to get to the Blue ridge area of North Carolina by heading back into Georgia. The reason for backtracking a little was to stop at the Georgia Guidestones near Elberton. Since we were in the area, we're also going to visit the Currahee Military Museum in Toccoa, GA which commemorates Army Airborne training at Camp Toccoa, before WWII. August 7, 2009 beginning mileage 143840 ending 144012 traveled 172 miles Well what a day we had, first off we stopped in a visitor center to use the bathroom and when we came out we took the wrong turned and we came to a town called Townsed and we found out we are around 20 miles out of our way so we had to go back and catch 441, well we finally got back on course and started up the Smokey Mountains, and the truck was running hot and we had to pull over about a half dozen times to let it cool off, we finally made it to the top and started...

Apr 23, 2009 - Rabun Gap/Dillard area...
Wow! We're up in "Waterfall" country! This is about as good as it gets ... the leaves are just popping out... the Bradford pears are done blooming but everything else is just getting going so there's color everywhere. I'll have pictures of Bobby & Karin's place next entry. It's really something....^_^ What a great couple! Yesterday we were treated to Sauerbraten with all the trimmings and what a meal it was! Nov 22, 2007 - so thankful
Yesterday (Wednesday), we spent most of the day thinking it was Tuesday. We drove up to Rome, Georgia to meet Blacktop (Ken Gentle), a southern contemporary folk artist. Dave asked him what he was doing for Thanksgiving, and he said, "Well, tomorrow we're having some people over." Dave wondered why he was telling us about Wednesday instead of Thanksgiving. It only took us a while to figure it out. We also were an hour off (we had moved into central time a while ago, but had moved back to eastern time at some point that we don't know about)....
