Jul 13, 2014 - EARTHCACHES

Earthcaches do not have a log sheet to sign, you get to answer a few question about the earth formation from the person that published the cache page on the internet. You get to learn a history lesson about that earthcache. It might be about watershelds, about springs, fossils or other things about the earth. We like to go to earthcaches because you get to learn about the earth and at the same time you get to see what you are reading about.

WHAT'S NEW IN 2014

Jul 11, 2014 - Where Do You Go To Do Geocaching

When we go camping at a state park or even a K.O.A. I got to the GEOCACHING eb site to locate caches that are placed by people that want to play this game. They hide the cache container with rules that they have to use to place these container in the area. I look up the placement on the GEOCACHING web site, down load in my hand held G.P.S. unit, this shall take us to within about ten feet or less where the container was placed. Now we get to go look for this container, sign the log sheet, place it back , so other people can go look for it....

WHAT'S NEW IN 2014

Jul 9, 2014 - IN GEORGIA

We love to go geocaching in forest, state parks and in small towns. We shall go geocaching in the campground one day and then the next day go into town. We like to visit city parks and even get to go to the main streets to hunt for the containers. Geocaching shall take you to places that you would never see or think about going to see. We had a great time walking the small town streets, seeing the old court houses and city hall. Get to see old monuments of civil wars cannons and monuments to the men that fought on both sides of the war...

WHAT'S NEW IN 2014

May 13, 2013 - Homeward Bound

We have decided to go home a couple of days early, as pretty and interesting as this area is we are not really beach people and wanted to save our money for our next trip in June. The view was pretty tho, while we packed up to go. We drove about half way home and stopped at the Cordele GA KOA park. It was really nice, situated in an old pecan grove with beautiful large trees evenly spaced throughout the park. Very quite and peaceful evening under the cool shade trees. We made it on home the next day without incident. About the first or...

Spring Trips 2013

Jan 27, 2013 - to Cordele GA; 17/231

130127-70413-Sun-We went only 285 miles today, and I discovered before we left camp that another plug cap was off. The check engine light apparently comes on when a plug cap is off. We fixed it and they all stayed on all day and we got 8.428 mpg, which is about normal. I was going 70 mph most of the day. The problem was, we stopped for an RV wash and ity ended up taking about 2.5 hours and there was no by-pass so we had to wait. We will get to Ruskin FL tomorrow. It is about 340 miles away.

Jul 10, 2011 - On The Way To Cordele

We left Cape Coral in the rain and after all the trouble we had with the trailer, I did not want to see rain any more. We ran into rain over here and over there all the way to GA state line until the rain stopped, you know that wall where the rain will not cross over. They have not had any rain for months now, the lakes are down and the water supply is very low. We are going to camp at Cordele KOA for are base camp and run around from here.

May 6, 2011 - Fooled 'em

Yesterday we had to pay the BIG price for diesel for the big honkin' dually for the first time. $4.05.9!!! But we outsmarted them. I pulled in knowing this was the best price in Crestview and did a little math (wonders of wonders). I whipped out my trusty smart phone and went to the calculator. I knew how much fuel and range I had because the big honkin' has an on board computer. Then I figured how many miles we needed to travel (phone does that too) and figured how many gallons of this high priced fuel we needed (plus a 50 mile buffer) and...

Feb 28, 2011 - to Cordele GA; 12/118

Today we left Jack & Susan’s at 54640 miles and drove to Cordele GA at 55078 miles, for a total today of 398 miles. It was still 79 degrees at Cordele when we arrived, but I think this is the last of the good days. Tomorrow we should go about at least 400 miles to our campground, and then another 200 to home.

Jul 24, 2010 - GA Veteran's State Park

A relatively short 197 mile run from Jacksonville, FL to Cordele, GA today to get me back into the towing business. I feel like it's been so long, I've forgotten how to do it. Everything went well and we got along fine. My GPS brought me up old US1 to Waycross, GA, then Corridor Z to Tifton and I-75 to Cordele. The ride was very scenic and there was very little traffic on the road. It is depressing to see all of the old businesses along US 1 that closed and frozen in time when the interestes were completed. It was partly cloudy all day and...

Jul 6, 2010 - Next day....

Here we are just a few 'feet' from TN at the KOA! Temp is only 92+ degrees... whew! Yesterday that heat was out to get ya~: This is a nicer park but it's too close to the Interstate to be really peaceful. Oh well... that's what we need right now. The route we're planning should put us at Maple Grove, MN by Saturday afternoon. We'll have to stay there a couple of days because I have to get the computer to the Ridgedale Mall where the Mac store is... it's the handiest spot we'll be near to get to one. We had forgotten how many miles you can...

May 21, 2010 - Georgia Veteran Memorial State Park

We left Reed Bingham state park and headed on up to another state park near Cordele,Georgia. When we arrived we found out that the park was filled up for that weekend. So we got out our camping book to check on any campgrounds close to the park we were going to camp at. We found a nice K.O.A. in Cordele that we had stayed once before, it is just off the 75 interstate and close to shopping. This was going to be our base camp and we could come and go as we like and still be close to do what we want to do in the area. We went caching in...
