Even though this was another dreary day, we were tired of being shut in. Claxton, Georgia was on our “A” list of things to do so off we went. Claxton is a small community of less than 5000 souls located about 60 miles west of Savannah. It’s claim to fame is the world famous Claxton Fruitcake. Nov 8, 2008 - Souther and Souther

Been moving more and more south. First visited family and friends in North Carolina, then camped in Claxton, GA while visiting a friend that is into bicycling. There were about 600 people meeting up there to ride 60-100 miles. They saw I ahve a bike and asked if I wanted to join them - but I told them my bike is for emergencies. Bad knees don't allow me to actually ride it for pleasure - and surely not the distances THEY cover! - now - on to Florida!
