Jun 8, 2014 - Brunswick Ga

We spent the last three nights outside Brunswick Ga. This was a very nice campground but not to see around Brunswick. Jekyll Island is very pretty but very isolated. If you ever want to just get away from it all, this would be the place. There must be 50 miles of walking trails along the beach and in the woods. Very peaceful. Downtown Brunswick is old but not very well maintained. As both Judy and I have been nursing colds or something, this was a good place to relax and spend some sick time. Off to Charleston SC next

May 3, 2014 - Drama on the highway

We arrived in Brunswick, GA for a four night rest before moving onto Cape Romain. But not before a little highway drama... We were driving north on 17 just north of Jax. We see a sign that says detour ahead. Then we see one that says bridge out. We slow down but theres no place to turn around so I attempted to make a wide swing u turn. Not happening. Could not finish the turn and we are strattled across US17 blocking the road. So we had to get out, Karen was flagging traffic while I tried to detach the Jeep from the coach. But I had "bound...

The Bright Side

Apr 23, 2014 - Leaving Golden Isles of Georgia

Tomorrow we will again be moving down the road. We have enjoyed our stay here in Brunswick and feel we have seen a beautiful part of Georgia. We will long remember all the huge stately moss laden oaks, the marshes that are unique in their own way and the beaches along the Atlantic. But it is time to see what else we can discover on our 2014 travels. Just as a head's up for those readers who do look at the itinerary, we will be staying in the state of Georgia moving to the Augusta area and foregoing Charleston on this trip. Why you might...

Apr 19, 2014 - Foggy, Misty Day In Historic Brunswick

From Coastal Georgia RV Resort – Brunswick, GA Heavy rains were the order of the day yesterday so we reluctantly stayed in and hoped for better conditions today to begin our exploring and sightseeing. Woke to a “sea fog” and mist this morning but decided to get out and see just how much we could see and do. After breakfast at Krystal (came to love their breakfasts when in Gulf Shores) we headed for the historical downtown area of Brunswick. Brunswick serves as the mainland to the Golden Isles. It along with four barrier islands along the...

Apr 17, 2014 - A Smooth Move Into Georgia

From Coastal Georgia RV Resort – Brunswick, GA Thanks to all you out there for those crossed fingers and toes! All is well with the water heater…..enjoyed a good “hot” shower last night. Home Depot had the part Rudy needed, the switch out went easy and the carpet is dry once more. After two days of driving more miles than we usually do, today was like a skate in the park…….only 119.5 miles and we arrived in Brunswick just 2 ½ hours after leaving this even with a brochure information gathering at the Georgia Visitors Center at the state line...

Home Sweet RV - 2014

Mar 21, 2014 - Brunswick, GA

We traveled back south on Hwy 17 to I-95 to Brunswick, GA where we stayed at Coastal Georgia RV Park. This was a great RV park. Dale had been in this area in about 1990 or 1991 so he wanted to go back and see what had changed. We drove out to Jekyll Island where Dale once golfed with the alligators. The island is well known for its golfing and the historic Jekyll Island Club Hotel. The hotel and surrounding cottages were once home to the most exclusive club in the world, consisting of America's most influential - the Morgans (J. P.),...

Dec 4, 2013 - Brunswick, GA

We left Selma yesterday getting on the road at 8:15 - early for us. Because we got away so early we decided to drive to Brunswick, Ga instead of Darien, GA as we had planned. It is about 20 miles further. We put on 381 miles which for us is a lot. We prefer to put on 250 to 300 miles. We are in a park that we have been to several times before and love. Ever since we hit Amerikamps RV park in Ashland, VA the parks have been very full with people heading south. We are amazed at how many are heading south now, we thought most people would wait...

Jul 31, 2013 - Brunswick, GA

31Jul 13 - We arrived in Brunswick GA. around 3:30PM and are staying at the Coastal GA RV Resort for the next week while we tour the area. Driving through Charleston area reminded me of the many trips I made when I was working. The sweet grass basket stands are still along 17 and look to be the same ones even. I remember my good friend and co-worker Lynn wanting to buy one until she found out how much they cost, we both were shocked! The drive was good until we were about an hour out when it started to pour rain. The rain continued until we...

Jul 14, 2013 - Overnight in GA

From Brunswick, GA ... On the Road Again Sunday, July 14, 2013 We left home at 8:00am this morning. We started out driving in steady rain in VA. After an hour or so, the constant rain ended. But then we drove through intermittent rain off and on all day. Fortunately, it was mostly brief showers. But it's still always fun to drive in rain on I-95. :) We stopped for lunch at Cracker Barrel in Santee, SC. After lunch, I took the wheel and drove the rest of the way to our destination for the night. We arrived at the Best Western in Brunswick,...

On the Road Again

May 3, 2013 - More Rain

We woke up to more rain. We had planned to go to St. Simon's Island today and wanted to go to the beach. We did go to Polly and Keith's motel and rode with them as we were determined to go. We found the island but kept getting lost trying to get around and everything is in a big circle. We did find a dock that went to the beach. We walked up on the dock and the wind and rain was so bad we did not go any further. So we did what anyone in our position would do. Found Will and Sarah along with Will's Mom and Dad (who were on the island...
