We drove down to Blakely , GA for a few days of camping in the Kolomoki mounds state park.This park is one of the largest and earliest mound complexes in southeastern usa and largest in Georgia. The park's museum was built to incorporate part of an excavated mound; it provides an authentic setting for viewing artifacts. We climbed the steps to the top of the mound and got a wonderful view of the area around the temple mound. May 5, 2009 - Day 35 - Niece Debbie's
BOL, BOL .... just a quick bark to let you know that no, we haven't fallen off the face of the earth, but ... we are in Blakely, Georgia where we have no AT&T cell phone coverage and no Verizon internet - OK, so maybe we did fall off the face of the earth. Jo wanted me to let you know that we haven't forgotten everyone, but it will be a couple of daze (pun intended) before she catches up the blog. Thanks for hanging there y'all. May 5, 2009 - Day 34 & 35 - Blakely, Georgia
Man O Man - I thought the whole world was coming to an end. There was more thunder and lightning, and rain pounding on the roof than you could ever imagine. Dick said something about it being a monsoon but I'm not sure what that is. Looks like Jo discovered a couple of leaks - at least one is in the bathtub area. But now we're nice and dry; we'll see how long that lasts BOL !!! Boy, Harley is right! It was a monsoon. When we left New Orleans it started to rain but just a little and then .... Mar 31, 2009 - KOLOMOKI MOUNDS
Kolomoki Mounds State Historic Park is near Blakeley , Georgia, the facilities is 43 tent,trailer RV campsites near 2 lakes. You can fish,boat rentals,hike the 5 miles of trails and visit the historic Kolomoki Mounds. I set up camp first,checking to make sure I have electric. One time I got all set up and found out that the elect was not working , I had to move to another camp site.
