May 14, 2013 - First day on the road.
We left home at 10:38 this morning heading up I-75 to hwy 48, to hwy 41 to hwy 44 and then on hwy 19, where we saw two turkeys on the side of the road, traffic was as usual hectic on the interstate but once we got on the back roads it was much nicer. We pulled off the road around 6:00 p.m. in Monticello, FL at A Stone’s Throw RV Park. We had lunch at Burger King and had leftover smoke pork for dinner in the RV, Weather only got up to 85 today.

May 14, 2013 - Sunshine
Hello friends, today we woke up in the sunshine. Steve feels that the sun is so much better in Florida, I agree. Yesterday we drove 3 hours from Alabama to Milton Florida. No problem with the drive, it went really well. Got to Gulf Pines KOA park in Milton, nice settings, great hosts Mike and Belinda. Also great cable TV, I need to see Call the Midwife on Sunday. But today is do the laundry and go to the beach. Will blog more later. xxx

We are starting to take it very slow, after 2000 plus miles of being on the road, we need some rest and relaxation! May 12, 2013 - Sanibel Island
Hello everyone. Things are going great, we're having great weather and a great time. Cindy spent some time in on Marco Island doing some shell hunting. We camped at Collier-Seminole State Park on the edge of the Everglades. Cindy found all these shells in about 1 1/2 hours. She found some on Sanibel Island but not like on Marco Island. Someone told her that people walk Sanibel Island in the mornings and gather the good shells to sell. There are two stores on Sanibel Island called. " She Sells Sea Shells". Bunny and I spent time walking...

May 11, 2013 - Everglades
Well, we are on the move again. Key West was OK. Now we have gone on the airboat ride in the Everglades, and had alligator tail to eat. It's OK but it doesn't taste like chicken. We took a tour into the Everglades and it was wonderful. The guide knew what she was talking about. The weather has been great. Next we will be moving up the gulf coast to Marco and Sanibel Islands so Cindy can beach comb. Stay with us, life is a journey. And God has blessed us.

May 10, 2013 - We're home!!!
The last posting was made while we were in St. Augustine, FL. From there, we had a plan to leave in the early morning and sail all day and night in order to arrive in Charleston the next morning. Then the plan was to leave whatever harbor we were in for the night, sail in the ocean during the day, duck into an inlet and anchor or tie up for the night. Then repeat those short hops in the ocean all of the way to Beaufort, NC. From Beaufort, the plan was to motor in the ICW for three days which would get us home. Our plan partially worked. We...

May 10, 2013 - Green Turtle Cay, Bahamas to St. Lucie Inlet, FLA
No photos to post on this entry since our camera died. It was not made for this environment and our next one will be shock proof and water proof. We found what we want and hope to buy it soon. However, there really was not much to take pictures of since we were in boat delivery mode from the time we left Green Turtle Cay to get here to the good ole USA. 5/7/13 (Tuesday), the weather was beautiful when we woke up. At 0700, we were checked out at the office and off for our fairly long day to Great Sale Cay anchorage. As reported in earlier...

May 10, 2013 - On the Road to the Beach
We were on the road again traveling to Madison where we spendt the night. The wildflowers along the road were very pretty and a lot of them. The campground we stayed at was Deerwood RV Park and Motel. It used to be a KOA but was now private owned. Not a great place but not expensive either for a one night stop. There is a black bug that is everywhere now. We saw a bus front that was covered with them. They are thick in the air at this spot so we stayed indoors. We did get out to eat at Wendy's which was just down the road. We will move on...

May 9, 2013 - Magnolia Avenue & Treasury Street
We took an extra day to just explore and take more pictures. We drove down Magnolia Avenue which was voted one of the 4 most beautiful streets in the US. There are large magnolia trees with interlocking canopy over the street with Spanish moss draped everywhere. The picture does not do it justice. We stopped by the Old Jail complex and had our picture took with Gator Bob and his catch of the day. We also took a picture of the statues of the chain gang working on a rock wall which stands out front. I did not get a picture of the Giggling...
