May 20, 2013 - Keys and Kayaking
On Monday, May 6, we left Miami and headed south to Marathon. We were headed to the Jolly Roger Travel Park on Grassy Key. It is quite an experience to drive the Keys. Sometimes the road is on just a very narrow bit of land with the Gulf close on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other and at other times it is wide with lots of trees, shrubs and other vegetation so thick that no water is visible on either side. Because the water is shallow along the keys it is the most beautiful azure blue. In some places you can walk out 20 feet from...

May 20, 2013 - Stuart to Fort Pierce, FL
Spent 5/9 thru 5/13 in Stuart, FL at Sunset Bay Marina re-adjusting to the American way of life. We have to admit, we are not doing well for these three days adjusting. After two months of islands, we got very spoiled with our life-style. If it were not for the crossings of the ocean, we'd go over there a lot. We have now crossed four times and none of them were good. We talk with folks who say they have been doing it for years with few problems, so who knows, we may someday give it another shot, but we definitely plan on returning. The...

May 18, 2013 - Surgery and new rig!!
Thank you all who have sent messages over the past few months, missing my semi-regular (ha ha) blog entries. Well as many of you know I have been through the mill, and back!!! I had been getting slightly short of breath and had some water retention in my feet/ankles so I went off to my primary care physician to get it checked out. She sent me to the Cardiologist and I had an echcardiogram done. To backtrack: In my childhood I had contracted rheumatic fever which unfortunately has some very nasty lasting side effects. The main one being it...

May 15, 2013 - Pirates, Planes and Fort Pickens
Made our splash back in Florida at the Blue Angels Naval Recreation Park in Pensacola, FL. Great campground close to our main reason for stopping - the National Naval Aviation Museum located on Naval Air Station, Pensacola, FL. What an inspiring collection of aircraft and memorabilia representing the beginning of flight to present day aviation technology. Of course, being the home of the Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Angels are well represented here. Although currently "grounded" due to the Sequester, the aircraft are still...

May 14, 2013 - Sunshine
Hello friends, today we woke up in the sunshine. Steve feels that the sun is so much better in Florida, I agree. Yesterday we drove 3 hours from Alabama to Milton Florida. No problem with the drive, it went really well. Got to Gulf Pines KOA park in Milton, nice settings, great hosts Mike and Belinda. Also great cable TV, I need to see Call the Midwife on Sunday. But today is do the laundry and go to the beach. Will blog more later. xxx

May 14, 2013 - First day on the road.
We left home at 10:38 this morning heading up I-75 to hwy 48, to hwy 41 to hwy 44 and then on hwy 19, where we saw two turkeys on the side of the road, traffic was as usual hectic on the interstate but once we got on the back roads it was much nicer. We pulled off the road around 6:00 p.m. in Monticello, FL at A Stone’s Throw RV Park. We had lunch at Burger King and had leftover smoke pork for dinner in the RV, Weather only got up to 85 today.

Today we drove from Holt to Perry, a distance of 215 miles. This is our second stop in Florida, and our final destination is about 300 miles away. We are starting to take it very slow, after 2000 plus miles of being on the road, we need some rest and relaxation! We are staying at the Perry Elks, and we are camped on an area of grass that must be 5 acres, or so. Here are a few 'snaps' for you! Mike and Nancy

May 12, 2013 - Naples, Florida
We spent almost two weeks in Naples. Our first adventure was Harley's first boat ride. He is great riding in the truck, and he behaved well on the boat. We rode to Naples Bay to watch the first few canoes make the turn for the finish in the charity canoe race, then rode across to Stan's on Marco Island. Hot Damn was playing, and we saw the memorial painting that hangs in tribute and celebration of Stan, who passed away since our last visit to Marco Island. It was great to visit with our good friends, but the road calls us north and west.....

May 12, 2013 - Sanibel Island
Hello everyone. Things are going great, we're having great weather and a great time. Cindy spent some time in on Marco Island doing some shell hunting. We camped at Collier-Seminole State Park on the edge of the Everglades. Cindy found all these shells in about 1 1/2 hours. She found some on Sanibel Island but not like on Marco Island. Someone told her that people walk Sanibel Island in the mornings and gather the good shells to sell. There are two stores on Sanibel Island called. " She Sells Sea Shells". Bunny and I spent time walking...

May 11, 2013 - Everglades
Well, we are on the move again. Key West was OK. Now we have gone on the airboat ride in the Everglades, and had alligator tail to eat. It's OK but it doesn't taste like chicken. We took a tour into the Everglades and it was wonderful. The guide knew what she was talking about. The weather has been great. Next we will be moving up the gulf coast to Marco and Sanibel Islands so Cindy can beach comb. Stay with us, life is a journey. And God has blessed us.
