Sep 5, 2012 - And Back to Hear the Bells
First stop from home – just to show a dot on the map. One night stand at one of our favorite parks in Florida because of the great sites and the bells that play Stephen Foster’s “Old Folks at Home”, “Ole Black Joe”, and “My Old Kentucky Home” on the hour. A great feeling to be on the road again, knowing that for now all is well.

Apr 20, 2012 - First Stop
We are headed for Gaffney, SC for some routine maintenance on the See Ya before heading westward. We made a couple hundred miles today and are spending the night at Lee's Country Campground. It's only for one night and it's a Passport America park, but we were pleasantly surprised with the friendly owners and spacious campground. Tomorrow we head to Macon, GA for a two-night stay.

Feb 28, 2012 - end of the month
29 February 2012 Last day of the month and we still have a few more pics to upload. Get 150/month with the tripjournal. Yesterday we sat on the porch of the gift shop here at Stephen Foster for about 90 minutes uploading pics. Only place to do it here. We hardly get phone signal. We never left the park yesterday. Plenty to do here. Great bike paths and not many hills in this part of NE Florida. Hell, even our driveway in Elk River would be considered a hill. The old spring, for which White Springs was named for, is dry. For the past 12...

Feb 26, 2012 - Drive to Stephen Foster State Park
Feb 26 It was hard to leave Indian Pass today. Thought seriously about staying there on the beach and looking for shells or running Bella. Sometimes the technology we have seems to be a bit of overkill. GPS (named Greta) in the truck, two phones that are really small computers, digital cameras/video recorders (4), 2 TV’s, radios, DVD’s, CD's and MP3’s, and a chronograph on my wrist. We are not at a loss for data, music, or videos. In fact we usually check the Weather Channel on TV or phone in the morning before we plan our day or extended...

Feb 25, 2012 - Ap-a-lach-i-cola
We got the tip from the retired teachers that this was a shopping destination. So we ventured out to see what there was to see. It also has historical significance, most of which will wait until the next time we visit. The streets are lined with historical buildings filled with antique and unique shops. Many of them were out of our price range. The day I spend $220 for a white blouse, you’ll know I won the lottery! Since the Feds haven’t gotten around to making a deposit into my bank account yet, we are trying to be frugal as we go. Our...

Feb 1, 2012 - Suwannee Valley Campground
Stayed at Suwannee Valley Campground 1/21 - 1/28/2012 First night in, we attended the campground bonfire and learned that the campground would be a clothing optional campground in April! Mandatory nudity around the pool area! Nice folks, but would not want to see a one of them naked! Enjoyed the peaceful setting and the fantastic hiking! Lucy went to Skunkie Acres no kill animal shelter 1/24/2012 and received a tour of the zoo and took an hour long horseback trail ride on Chief (a paint & quarter hourse mix) The reason for selecting White...

Jan 29, 2012 - Suwannee Valley Campground, White Springs, FL
After leaving Ft. Clinch State Park, we had hoped to stay in the Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park in White Springs, FL. Holly and Norm Roy had highly recommended that we see it. Unfortunately, the campground was full, but we found a nice site at the Suwannee Valley Campground nearby. The weather is beautiful and warm, so we decided to stay four nights instead of three. We wanted to spend at least a day at the Stephen Foster park, but we also needed to catch up on our laundry and other annoying chores. This campsite has a sewer...

Nov 21, 2011 - White Springs, Florida
Our first stop in Florida was in White Springs. The RV park was neat with the Spanish Moss hanging from all the trees. Susan had to take Ihop to the vet. Ihop had been vomiting for a few days. We were thinking the worse. It turned out he had strep throat.

Apr 20, 2011 - Stephen Foster Folk Center State Park
Yesterday we left home and headed on our spring journey. We stopped at Camping World at the St. Augustine Outlet Malls and picked up a compartment door latch and a hanging net for fruit. We arrived at Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park and quickly set up camp. The campground is quite lovely with towering pines, moss festooned oaks and lots of shrubbery between the sites. Some time and effort was put into leveling all the sites. They are packed down hard with sand and gravel. Not many folks were camping here, but the reservation...

Apr 19, 2011 - White Springs, FL
It wasn’t easy but we forced ourselves to get out of the park and take a look around at the surrounding area. What we discovered was there’s really nothing out there. The town of White Springs has an old hotel, a Dollar General Store, and a BBQ restaurant. There’s not much else in White Springs. After our 10 minute drive through the streets of White Springs we turned west and drove to Live Oak, about 15 miles. It’s a very small town but it does have a few restaurants, fast food chains, grocery stores and pharmacies. We found a small...
