Mar 25, 2010 - Plans Made in Jello
From Topsail Hill State Park in Santa Rosa Beach, FL … We woke up to cloudy skies this morning. We got up around 7:30 … again, it was that “afraid I might miss something” thing. : ) We sat on the patio and enjoyed our first cup of coffee as the temperature was already 60 degrees. We had planned to drive to Destin this afternoon for the 25 cent martini lunch at Commander’s Palace (like the restaurant in New Orleans). Before we left for our walk, I decided to go online and see what the hours were for lunch at Commander’s Palace. When I did,...

Mar 24, 2010 - Travel to Santa Rosa Beach, FL
From Topsail Hill Preserve State Park in Santa Rosa Beach, FL … We had another early start as today for our travel to the Florida panhandle area on the Gulf Coast. We got up at 7:00 and had a quick cup of coffee before fixing some breakfast. We got ourselves ready and got everything packed up to get on the road. We met our goal this morning and pulled out of Pecan Park right at 9:00. It seems that two hours is how long it takes us to get on the road in the morning if we take time to have breakfast. Not too bad. We were hoping to arrive in...

Jan 4, 2010 - Family And The Holidays
We spent a wonderful Christmas – in Stone Mountain, GA - with my sister, Carol, her family and my father, Ray. I was wonderful to see my Dad again. It has been two years since my mother passed away and my family was very worried about how Dad would adjust in Georgia. He is doing remarkably well. I cannot begin to explain how much it does my heart good to know that Carol, her husband Ray and their family are giving our Dad (and Grandpa) the love, comfort and care that he deserves. We should all be so fortunate. I’ve written about Stone...

I failed to take any pictures of Topsail Hill but it is a really pretty park. I will try to remember to get pictures next time. We parked on spot #90, (I think) and it was a really nice spot. We were joined by my brother and his girlfriend for the entire week. They rented a cabin that wasn't far from our campsite. Some camping friends parked across the street from us later in the week and we met our neighbors from Georgia. We ate out too much and I think I put on ten pounds. My sister and an old highschool friend that lives in the area met...

Apr 17, 2008 - Topsail Hill 08
Our first trip to this park in Florida and what a pretty place. The spots are roomy and the park is just perfect. There is a paved trail down to the beach which is virtually a private beach. It belongs to the park so only park guests use it which means no crowds. The trail to the beach is 7/10ths. of a mile and is excellent for jogging, walking or biking. I got up and ran to the beach each morning before breakfast. We came to this campground at the recommendation of our friends Leon and Lisa. They were told about it from a co-worker of...
