May 18, 2017 - Preparations are underway

We will bring the motor home to our house today and begin loading it for our trip. Last week I washed it and had the oil changed. It always surprises me how much stuff we lay out to load. I always think there is no way all of this will fit and then we load and have room left over. Today we are meeting Elisabeth for lunch and to pick up her box of stuff to take to California for her. Still thinking about how we might get home from Montana. Anyone have any suggestion??

Nov 19, 2014 - The Villages, Florida

11/19/14 (Wednesday) We decided to move south due to the cold weather. We started at 11 am and drove 250 miles on Hwy 301 to The Village, Fl and arrived at 6 pm. The Florida Welcome Center was the largest we seen and provided complementary orange juice. We stopped at The Orange Shop in Citra, FL and purchased the smallest amount (5 lbs) of their Page oranges. There were a lot of signed on the road advertising this place. We had dinner at McDonalds and overnighted next door at Walmart at The Village, Fl. 11/20/14 (Thursday) Al scheduled a...

Apr 12, 2014 - Brownwood Paddock Town Square, The Villages

We went to Brownwood Paddock Town Square's Farmer's Market, really nice and lots of vendors with a lot of good produce and products. Reggi found a vendor that makes pot pies with a puff pastry and they are absolutely the best pot pies in the world. We spent a couple of hours there. We again pushed Houston around in his Doggy Roadster.

Apr 10, 2014 - Spanish Springs, The Villages

The Villages is made up of lots of small "villages". We visited Spanish Springs for their farmer's market, it was not large but had a good variety of produce. Again, there are lots of golf carts parked and driving around the streets. Because of Houston's age, will be 15 in Nov, we push him around in his Doggie Roadster we bought for him at the Arizona Market Place in Yuma about a year ago. As we were returning to our home at Three Flags RV Resort, we stopped at a cafe in Wildwood we were told about. The Cotillion Southern Cafe which is...

Jan 22, 2014 - A visit to Friends Kathy & Bob

We had planned to stay a night with our friends Bob & Kathy Brick. Kathy and Anne were roommates in college. The Bricks moved to The Villages last year and enjoy golf, bridge, exercise and a huge community (over 100,000) - and of course, Florida weather. Our stay was extended another day as the RV was being fixed and of course we were so grateful for the Brick's hospitality. Besides their wonderful companionship, we had golf cart rides, and a tour of the ever-expanding project.

Dec 2, 2013 - Thanksgiving at The Villages

While trying to decide on where to land next as we trek up north, we received an email from Barb's son Shawn who had heard from his grandmother Zelda. She now lives in Florida in a retirement community called The Villages. As it turned out, it was just two hours up the road from our spot off Anna Maria island so Barb gave her a call. She and Barb were very close and Barb wanted to pay her a visit. Well, the conversation soon turned into "can you come for Thanksgiving?" That was the week before Thanksgiving. With no plans, we decided to...

Jun 30, 2013 - Back to The Villages

As you all know, when we began our cross country journey we said we'd travel the roads until we no longer liked it, or until we were no longer physically able, or until the good Lord told us it was time to settle down. The good Lord spoke and we listened. During our travels, we've always kept our eyes peeled for that place we might like to settle when we were ready, but until last December, it eluded us. Don and I were blown away by the lifestyle at The Villages, FL, and after our visit, we decided this could be the place. We did a lot of...

Jun 29, 2012 - Thousand Trails - 3 Flags The Villages, FL

We moved from Orlando Thousand Trails to 3 Flags Thousand Trails near The Villages. Not a bad park, but the rain and humidity brought out the mosquitoes, so after a few days, it got to be difficult to go outside. While there, we went with Liz and Moe to their 4th of July celebration at On Top Of The World. Great live Rock and Roll band, dancing, fireworks...and great time! This makes us want to find a place like this out West. ...

Apr 11, 2012 - Sarasota Easter, The Villages, and on to Unadilla GA

We spent Easter weekend relaxing at the Fun-n-Sun RV Resort in Sarasota. We went to the pool for an hour or 2 every day to work on a Florida suntan. We attended church at the park church that we so enjoyed last weekend. Monday was laundry day in addition to our pool time. Overall this was just a relaxing time before heading north to start our return trip to the west coast. Tuesday we traveled to Summerfield for a 2 night stay so we could see Judie’s Cousin Bob, who was vacationing for a month at The Villages with his friend Barbara. Bob...
