Oct 28, 2012 - Indy trip

I flew back to Indy on October 18Th, leaving Richard, Max, and Maggie in Florida to fend for themselves. This was a scheduled trip made for a variety of reason, the most important being getting my Lilly "fix". Lilly is my sweet and adorable 16 month old granddaughter! My flight home was great and was able to see the beautiful Fall colors from the air. I have been so busy while I have been home. I am looking forward to returning to the relaxing lifestyle we have in Florida! Lilly and I spent an evening with my brother Brian and his wife...

Oct 14, 2012 - Family visit

Richard and I drove to Tavares today, about 1 1/2 from our resort to visit family. My sister Terri and brother in law Terry are in Florida to visit their son, Bruce, his wife Heather, and their son Darcy. This was the first time for us to meet Darcy, he is 10! We had a great visit while we ate at a restaurant on a lake. There was a wonderful breeze coming off the water and we saw a sea plane take off. Tavares is a very quaint town with a lot of boats and they have a sight seeing train that does short trips. It was great seeing Bruce,...

Mar 25, 2012 - Tavares, A Wooden Boat Show and Back to Tampa

Thursday we made the 80 mile trip from Flagler to Tavares where we stayed at Fisherman’s Cove Golf and RV Resort. This is a very good looking spot with concrete pads and lots of landscaping. We were met by friendly staff that drove us in a golf cart to look at the available spaces and gave us our choice. This is the first time we have stayed in a park with a marina and docks. The lake with the park appeared to be huge, as we couldn’t see the other end! After getting set up, we went to the Wooden Boat Show to see Judie’s Cousin Jerry. He...

Mar 27, 2010 - Sunnyland Antique Boat Festival

I couldn’t resist this, a day in the sunshine looking around a bunch of old boats – Heaven! The weather has warmed up nicely into the upper 70’s and it looks like the cool temperatures are finally behind us. We are still not out of the woods in terms of rain; theres some more of that to come. However, this morning, clear blue skies were above our roofless PT cruiser as we headed 40 minutes north to Tavares for the annual boat festival. A great collection of highly varnished, classic boats both in and out of the water. Of course, Jo approved...

Jun 13, 2009 - First Day

We left Tavares Fl a lot later then we expected when we found we had a dead battery on the Jeep when we tried to move it to the motor home for hook up. After that delay, things seemed to go along good until we stopped at a rest area for lunch. Then we could not get the front A/C to come on. After lunch we got back on the road and the heat was awful. Dick stopped again and got the tester out and found a fuse that was not working very good. Around 5pm we got off the road around Pensacola for the evening, hope tomorrow will be a better day.

Mar 19, 2009 - Tavares Boat Show Vacation

We are making our final showing of "The Cats Meows" at the boat show in Tavares FL. We have decided to sell the Swifts in preparation for hitting the road full time. Travel has been uneventful, thankfully. We arrived at Old Millstream RV resort as planned the 20th. March 21st - We have officially sold "THE CATS MEOWS" and are now very much committed to move on to the RV fulltime lifestyle. It will be strange to attend the show without our swifts but it was a fun hobby while it lasted.

Dec 3, 2008 - Neal's Fishing

This morning I Neal off at the bait store in Tavares where he met ? who he had fished with last year when we stayed at Lake Harris in Tavares. They spent about 6 hours out on Lake Griffin and caught a mess of crappies. Neal kept some and gave the rest to his skipper to enjoy. I picked Neal up at the lake about 2 p.m. and we headed home to the "fun" of cleaning the fish. We sat outside at the picnic table and finally finished about 1 1/2 hours later. Because crappie are not very big, you don't get much flesh from just one fish. After all...

Mar 23, 2008 - First Boat Show 2008 - Tavares FL.

The Cat's Meow is on the road again! We are here for the first big boat show of our season at Tavares Florida! Sunday (23Mar08): We arrived early at Olde Mill Stream RV Resort, Umatilla FL. We are in a temporary holding site until our regular reserved site is ready tomorrow. This resort offers weekly and monthly rates, very reasonable IMHO. The after hours host and hostess for the resort are fulltimers who gave us more information on the lifestyle we are planning to pursue. Very interesting! The show starts on Thursday so we have time to...
