Dec 11, 2014 - Steinhatchee to Crystal River

We had to wait 5 days for a good weather window. We are still traveling with Lady Shenaningans. We departed at 8:00 am. The weather was beautiful except for those pesky crab pots! We arrived at Pete's Pier around 4:00 pm nice people but the Marina was alittle dog-eared. We stayed 2 nights so the kids could go on a manatee tour. They really enjoyed it even if it was in the. 30's! They were real troopers the entire 2 1/2 hours. Gabby stayed at the boat with Greg as she was fighting a bout with asthma.

Dec 16, 2012 - Steinhatchee, Florida

This is the small fishing town Mike's mom and dad came down to from Minnesota during the winter for many years. Wood's Gulf Breeze campground, where they stayed, no longer exists. It is now a condo complex. We stayed on the other side of the river at a nice little RV park called Nature's Coast RV Resort.

Staying overnight at KOA Campground, Perry,FL- Shady site with nice large trees and large sites. Quiet site and pool is open and store. Have to explore. Also there is a dog park. Hot tub is hot but pool is not. Beautiful trees in this campground. The smell is the nearby papermill but hardly notice it after awhile.

Dec 27, 2008 - Arrived MUCH warmer weather

We hope everyone had a wonderful and joyous Christmas. Ed and I both had a great Christmas. He arrived back in Atlanta and we started our trip back to Florida. The traffic was so bad that it took us close to 2 hours to go less than 75 miles. We stopped for the night in McDonough. By the time we stopped the fog had set in so thick that the road was unfit to drive. We got up early this morning and finished the trip. This will be the last entry before the new year. Looking back through the year, it sure has been a tough one on our family. Next...

The Weaver's Travels

Feb 4, 2008 - Steinhatchee, Florida

Here for two days. Photo's to follow The Great Manatee Hunt: We are in a very nice and friendly camp for two nights, and not far from the Suawanee River - yes, that one "Way Down Upon the S R..." and also "Suawanee How I Love You..." Warm fresh water springs along the river produce milions of gallons of water. The park service has made swimming holes at the outlet of a couple of these springs. The water then flows into the river. And that warm water is the reason the manatees congregate there in the winter! A manatee is a big water mammel -...
