Feb 25, 2016 - South Miami, FL.

Drove 135 miles today, taking us from the west coast of Florida, to the east coast. About 90 miles of it was across the Everglades on state highway 41. We had a choice of this or a tolled I-75 that took us much farther North. We opted for the slower scenic route. There are many Indian Villages and Air Boat rides all along the drive. Got to our site by 1:00, so we again caught up on laundry.

Nov 4, 2008 - South Miami, Florida

Yesterday we made it to South Miami without incident despite the heavy traffic getting to Mark and Julia’s apartment. It is so good to see the kids both happy and healthy. We ate a Cuban dinner last night at Versailles (known in Miami for the authenticity of the menu items) and it was very enjoyable. The appetizer was really good. I don’t remember the Cuban name, but they were basically sweet plantain crunchy chips with a thin dipping sauce that had garlic and lime juice (I think) in it. May 9, 2008 - Miami

We made it to Miami. The truck is unloaded and returned. Now we can rest easy for the remainder of the day. Julia will get back from visiting her parents tonight and then we plan on spending some time with her tomorrow before heading up the Florida coast towards Jack’s house. It has started to rain this afternoon so hopefully it will clear up by tomorrow as we hope to stop at a beach or two while we are here in Florida. So far I find Miami simply too much… too much humidity, too much traffic, too much population…etc. Although I shouldn’t...
