Feb 28, 2013 - Ponce Inlet Lighthouse
Today we visited the Ponce de Leon Inlet Light Station and took a self-guided tour of it. The light was activated November 1st, 1887. The Ponce Inlet Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse in Florida and one of the tallest masonry lighthouses in the country. This Landmark is worth a stop even if you're not a lighthouse enthusiast. . We easily climbed the 203 steps to the top of the 175 foot tower :-) and enjoyed magnificent views of the area from the narrow walkway that surrounds the tower just below the light itself. Luckily the skies were...

Feb 10, 2013 - Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park
Sunday, February 10, 2013 . Today we visited the Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park where we took a walking tour of the park and saw native Florida wildlife, including manatees, black bear, bobcats, white-tailed deer, alligators, and several species of birds. We also saw Lu, a hippo giving honorary Florida citizenship in order for him to remain in the State Park . The poor internet service we have makes uploading pictures very difficult.

Jan 23, 2013 - Daytona, Florida
Wednesday, January 23, 2013 . We started out this morning, and drove about 65 miles to the Daytona International Speedway. We arrived about an hour early for the 10am tour, so walked around some. The tour itself was great and the tour guide was very knowledgeable, which made the tour more interesting. Due to races taking place this weekend, the tour didn’t include the driver’s briefing room, as there was an actual briefing taking place. Race Teams were busy getting cars ready and there was a lot of other vendor activity taking place, track...

Jan 19, 2013 - Review of Our 1st Week
Saturday, January 19, 2013 1st Week in review: . Time flies, we left NH one week ago today!!! . Prior to this, the trip to central Florida took us 2 1/2 days, since we weren’t in a rush this trip was 3 1/2 days. Weather wise for the trip, we really lucked out, traveling in above average temps, no frost or freezing temps. In fact by the 3rd day, we were in shorts. Our new Fleetwood Expedition was very comfortable to travel in and more than adequate for us and the Golden Girls. . We are staying at the Wilderness RV Resort, in Silver Springs,...

Jan 15, 2013 - Arrived at Silver Springs - 4th Day
Tuesday, 15 Jan 2013 Another uneventful travel day, we stopped at the Florida Welcome Center to pick-up the latest ‘tourist’ info and maps, before continuing our travels. We arrived at the Wilderness RV Resort at 2:15pm. The site we’re renting is exactly what we expected and very nice. Temp was 82 degs, so the AC got turned on right away. After a quick setup, we were sitting on the brick patio in our recliners, watching TV, and relaxing.

May 14, 2012 - Silver Springs, FL - Wilderness RV Resort (near Ocala)
This is the first update of our Trip Journal. We started our trip on May 7th from Melbourne to Wilderness RV Resort in Silver Springs, FL. to attend the monthly rally of the Seaside Winnie's RV Club. Our hosts, Jim and Dree, did an outstanding job selecting restaurants in the local area, planning events for all of us to attend, and provided a great spaghetti dinner. On Thursday we all said so long until October, when most of us return from our summer adventures. We stayed at the park until Monday the 14th spending time with family and...

May 8, 2011 - April... A busy month
I almost got thru March with my last blog but the best part was at the very end… That was when my Son and Daughter-in-law came to visit us. They flew into Orlando during a horrible storm and had to circle the last hour around the airport while tornados were on the ground just a few miles away raising havoc all around them… It seemed like forever but we finally heard that they were on the ground safe and sound. The drive back to Ocala was wet and after a stop at an oasis on the turnpike, we felt very blessed… Lots of storms and power outage...

May 7, 2011 - January - March
First thing I would like to tell you is that I found the pictures I had downloaded before I had trouble with my computer so I went back to my post of May 5th and added some of my favorites so be sure to go back and click on them. Trying to remember all the things we did is not the easiest but by finding the pictures that should help jog the brain a bit. We had a lot more friends come to see us but I don’t remember the exact month they were here. Terry and Dale from our full timing class of ‘05 spent one night here on their way to Texas. It...

May 5, 2011 - Getting Ready to Hitch Up
Well it really has been a long time hasn’t it? For the next couple of days I will try to get you caught up on our winter in Florida. I’ll do my best to keep it in some kind of order but if not, I guess it really doesn’t make too much of a difference anyway. Does it? We returned to Ocala on October 1st while we were still having a very hot spell. The temps were in the 90’s just about every day. Instead of coming directly to our place in Silver Springs we went to a RV Park right next door to Sun Coast RV. We bought our RV at the show in...

Jan 23, 2010 - Silver Springs with friends
After spending four good days of visiting with my sister and brother-in law in St. Augustine, we traveled by way of Salt Springs to Silver Springs. We had met friends, Alex and Sandra, in the Salt Springs campground in the Ocala National Forest 2 years ago, and they have since purchased a park model in the park. We parked the camper in the parking lot, ate lunch in a small cafe, and made a surprise visit to Alex and Sandra. It was great seeing them. We then moved on to Silver Springs to Lake Waldena RV Resort where are Cedarville friends,...

May 16, 2009 - Whoopie Pies and yellow flies - the shakedown cruise
Before any long adventure it's wise to have a "shakedown" cruise to figure out where stuff is going to go, what things work and don't work in the rig, how to empty the holding tanks (filling them is rather basic, don't ya know), adding shelves and dividers and organizers where appropriate, adding homey touches (suckling pigs, shrek portrait, cocopelli, palco and other keepsakes), and seeing if we can sleep in the darn thing. So, after loading but before we even hooked up, Pauly slipped on the exit stair and badly sprained her ankle...big...
