Apr 6, 2013 - Sebring FL
Today was party day. Though it will not go down in the annals of prominent Lake Placid events – which I’m sure is a very long list - a good time was had by all. The whole thing went off without a hitch, except for the illness of one of the guests which prevented her from attending, so we are pretty happy with the results. And most importantly, the guest of honor had a good time. There were friends from his old neighborhood in Baltimore, golfers and bowlers from when he lived in North Miami and family from FL, GA and SC. It wasn’t a surprise...

Apr 5, 2013 - Sebring FL
Greetings. We are on the road again and since you haven’t asked to have your name removed from the update list, you will be subjected to the daily, or at least occasional, drivel from the road unless you tell me otherwise. This trip is gonna be northish - via Tallahassee if you can believe that - toward New England then maybe back west toward the Great Lakes and possibly beyond. As usual, we have no chiseled-in-stone plan, more of a “we’re heading that-a-way” idea of where we will end up, though I suspect a few baseball games will end up on...

Jan 12, 2013 - Sebring, FL
Today, Thursday, Jan 10th has us in RV service, which we had set up with the guys who fixed our back slide. We had a seal problem with another slide and they fixed it today. While there they noticed we were not level in the left rear area of our RV and now we are waiting here for parts to come in tomorrow so that this can be fixed. Camper Corral, the RV service has a few hookups in the back of their land, so we had a place to park at night. Friday, the 11th - Since we have a day to kill, we went to the Highlands Hammock State Park and...

Jan 2, 2013 - Sebring Shopping
Today was another shopping day. After spending several hours shopping online, we went off the Sebring (about an hour away--north and west of Okeechobee). We decided that we should replace the refrigerator in our kitchen. Although it "works" it works too hard, and our first electric bill will probably reflect its inefficiency. We also want to add a flat screen TV to the living room, as the one which came with the house is quite old and too large for the space which houses it. After researching, we decided that Sears offered the best...

Feb 7, 2012 - hangin in the hammock
Monday, February 06, 2012 Wow it’s been hot. I don’t want to make anyone jealous back home cause I know your winter has been warm and nonexistent, but 80’s every day is now my new idea for what winter should be like. Of course it is above normal here. We looked over the town of Sebring. There are several lakes in the area and Sebring is right on one of the larger ones. Mr. Sebring laid out the town in 1912 so they are celebrating their centennial this year. He began with a circular park about 300’ across with the streets going out in...

Feb 1, 2012 - Headin further south
Wednesday, February 1, 2012 The last you heard from the Dilapidated Duo we were sunning in sunny New Smyrna Beach by the seashore. We have finally gotten kicked outa there and moved our butts further toward the equator, like all the way to the center of the state. Where, by the way, it is still sunny and beautiful only slightly moreso. Or do you suppose it is more so, or moresew, or moorsew, or perhaps dintymooreso? Ah whodaheck cares anyway. But I digress. Last week we drove south to Titusville which is the closest town, or should I say...

Jan 23, 2012 - Camping
We left Lithia Springs county park and drove over to Highlands Hammock State Park near Sebring, Florida. We wanted to do some trail walking because we have gotten some trail boots for this ummer when we go to the eastern part of the U.S.A. and up into Canada for the back woods. This was a test walk on the trails so we could break in our trail boots before we go walking for real. The boots felt real nice before and during the trail test. We only walked about a total of 15 miles over the three days on the trails. This one trail was eight...
