Aug 6, 2012 - Four to go.....home, that is:-(
All it took was two clicks of my sparkly red shoes (aka my Teva’s) and here we are back at Salt Springs Resort. One minute we were having such a good time in Rhode Island, in Maine, in upstate NY – and now it’s all gone. But, certainly we have no regrets as our short but sweet trip was certainly that...perfect in every way the entire time we were gone. It was exactly what we needed, and the happy memories, the big hugs, the miles of smiles we received will hold us through these next few trying months. Our trip down from Rome, NY was good,...

Jun 20, 2012 - Three to get ready....Again
Yaaaaaa-hoooooo!!! We are free to travel!!! Rich got a reprieve from the doctor yesterday to leave for six weeks, so we are re-packing the Lance and getting the Big Horn closed down. We should have everything ready by this afternoon and then we'll leave tomorrow morning (Thursday) for our first stop...Unadilla, GA. We will be taking our time going North and we should have internet in the campgrounds where we have reservations, so hopefully we'll be able to blog. Just want to say thanks to everyone for your calls and messages of support in...

May 30, 2012 - Packed, then unpacked
Well, everyone, we almost got on the road. But, thankfully Rich's doctor had done a bloodwork last week that showed an elevated PSA, then a trip to the Urologist, and now a scheduled biopsy this coming Tuesday (6/5)as a small growth was found on the prostate. Although we're disappointed that our trip is delayed, we feel fortunate that it was found before we left. The doctor expects to get results within two weeks, then (depending on results) will start treatment immediately. Once that's started he will let us travel north for a month or...

May 28, 2012 - Two for the show...
As said, this is our Celebration Year, so I thought I would start off by sending a few pics of the two big - make that BIG!! - celebrations we have had here at Salt Springs already this year. The first one was in March....Rich's 70th birthday (actual date March 8th) and we celebrated it on St. Patrick's Day. Not only did we have the Happy Zone crowd, but several "surprise" guests as well including Alan from RI, Richie from Alaska, my Sister, Linda from Bradenton, FL, my brother Scott and his wife Myra from Clermont, FL, my sister-in-law,...

Apr 30, 2012 - One for the money.....
Just a little more than a month to go before our blast-off from Salt Springs. We're crossing off things (gradually) on our list - usually takes money, that's for sure - and today I've updated my contact list for this blog. So, this is a test and hopefully the ones I have added to my contact list will want to keep track of us this summer. Our scheduled date to leave is June 4th and the destination this year is Rhode Island, Acadia National Park (Maine), and upstate NY. Anywhere thats cool!! OK....confirm back if you think you can keep us...

Apr 25, 2012 - Getting Ready
Today will be our final day here at the home base in Salt Springs. Penny and I have been loading up the truck camper for our trip and will leave here tomorrow for Daytona Beach to be a bit closer to the kids for a final weekend with them. We will certainly miss our Salt Springs family!

Sep 25, 2011 - Home Already??
Yes, home already! We were ready once we finished with the truck rally in PA. Didn't really mean to make a speed run back to Florida but it just worked out that way. We did go down the Blue Ridge Parkway for awhile, but it was foggy and overcast the day we were there. Plus, for some reason, the curves and turns were giving me a headache so we got off in Roanoke, VA. Spent the night just north of the Tennessee border in a rag/tag campground that we'd driven ten miles off the highway to go to. Thankfully we were only staying the one night...

Jun 12, 2011 - Farewell gone wild!
The Happy Zone held a Luau last night that turned out to be our Farewell party! Sweet!!! We decorated like crazy, had the table groaning...including a "pig" roast (thanks to Lana & Dennis,) and the Pina Colada blender was busy all evening. We even have new shirts to remind us of the good times here. It was a blast, plus we apparantly entertained the rest of the campground given the number of people who waved, beeped, and yelled "Aloha" as they went by. The big fun was our "Tacky Tourist" game....the guys cheated of course, but GIRLS...

Jun 9, 2011 - Getting Ready
It's getting too hot here in Florida, so it's time to head North. We've been busy these last few weeks packing the Lance and getting the home site ready to leave. Thank goodness for our good friends and neighbors who watch our belongings for us! Our trips would be impossible without them! Unfortunately, this year we will be traveling on our own and we'll miss our travel mates from our 2010 trip. Penny & Gary left Florida in April and are currently in New England. Hopefully we can catch up to them at some point in time. Robert & Celeste are...

Apr 4, 2011 - Almost ready to go
Well, as the title says, we are almost ready to go. The camper is just about packed and the only thing we have left is to cover up Penny's car, the golf cart and close up the 5th wheel. The weather man says we will be getting some severe weather tomorrow, so we may have to wait just one more day to start or trip.

Feb 22, 2011 - Ocala National Forest, Florida
2/22 – 2/27 It was a 164 mile drive to the Shanty Pond campsite in Ocala National Forest (SR64, US27, US441, CR44, SR19) just below Salt Springs. This was a rally of about eleven RVs from the Escapees RV club. We met some new friends along with some old ones including Roy and Jean and Tom and Debbie. The event included great happy hours and campfires under a beautiful, star-filled Florida sky. Two campfires included a sing-along hootenanny. A group of us had dinner at the 4 star restaurant Bass Champions (250011 NE Hwy 314, Salt Springs...

Nov 4, 2010 - Back to Reality
We are finally home in Florida....arrived here Monday morning after six months and 20,000 miles on the road!! What a fantastic time we've had, but have to admit that our little place in Salt Springs did look good to us....well, except for all the "Caution" tape that had been strung from one end to the other. Seems our neighbors thought the place was abandoned since noone had been there for so long. Oh, yeah, and did I mention the blow-up doll we found in our dining room with the message "Welcome Home Big Boy!" Such funny people, our...
