Dec 9, 2012 - Day 147 - St Andrews State Park, Panama Cty Beach, Florida
Today is for the park exploration. The sun is out, the temperature has come up a few degrees so we set off walking. Our first stop was the Gater Lake Nature Trail. This is a fresh water pond in the park, stocked with fish for fishing from non-motorized boats, home to alligators, they say there are about 6 but we did not see any, lots of wading birds and ducks. The trail winds around the lake for about a mile among live oaks with spanish moss and marsh grasses. When we came off the trail we headed to the jetty beach and walked along the...

Dec 8, 2012 - Day 146 - St Andrews State Park, Panama City Beach, Florida
Today we drove around getting pictures of the things we saw yesterday on our tour. (We forgot the camera yesterday.) It doesn't look any more impressive today. It would be a great place to spend a couple of weeks, but not much, except the beaches, to draw you to stay. That said, the beaches are fantastic. Twenty-one miles of white sand beaches, some with break waters, some without, the water clear and warm. We made it to the pier at the park in time to catch the sunset and decided to add a day to our stay just to explore the beaches and...

Dec 7, 2012 - Day 145 - St Andrews State Park, Panama City Beach, Florida
We spent this cool wandering the shopping areas in this tourist town and exploring the area. The shopping is limited to many beach stores, swimsuits, beach towels, sea shell ornaments, wind chimes, souvenirs and t-shirts. There are quite a few restaurants but more than half are closed for the season, re-opening in late January. This place also has the tourist facilities like waterparks, mini and adventure golf places, Ripleys Believe It or Not, and Wonder Works amusement areas, huge hotels and apartment buildings line the beaches, but the...

Dec 6, 2012 - Day 144 - to Panama City, Florida
We got an early start today because it could be a long drive. We were on the road at 8:30 AM and followed the Coastal Highway around the Gulf. We stopped at Eastpoint for lunch, and filled the bus up in Mexico Beach. About here we crossed into the Central Time Zone so gained an hour, now only one hour out from Alberta time and the same as Manitoba. We stopped in Panama City and filled up with propane for the first time since Augusta, Maine in October. We continued to Panama City Beach then to St Andrews State Park. We are parked facing the...

Apr 12, 2012 - St. Andrews State Park
When folks occasionally question our decision to give up our "sticks and bricks" home for a life on the road, we respond with how much we love the freedom to change the view from our front window when the mood strikes. No matter where we are in the country, we find scenery which takes our breaths away, differing landscapes, places of historical significance, music, art, nature, friendly locals, and lots and lots of fellow RVers who share our passion for travel and discovery around our beautiful country. This spot in St. Andrews State Park...

Apr 27, 2011 - Perfect Company in Panama City
After a short stay back at Wolf River in Pass Christian, Mississippi, we arrived at St. Andrews State Park which is located in Panama City Beach, Florida. Normally we avoid state parks because our rig is so long (41+ feet) and not only are the sites in most state parks geared towards shorter vehicles, the interior park roads are often hard to maneuver because of low-hanging tree limbs. We kept hearing that St. Andrews was really nice, but we could never find anyone who had actually stayed there, so we had no idea what to expect. We were...

Feb 29, 2008 - St. Andrews State Park, Florida
While in Fountain, we traveled to Panama City and visited St. Andrews State Park. The state park is right on the gulf, has a real nice campground and a beach perfect for long walks. We saw some jellyfish on the beach and lots of pieces of sand dollars. I looked real hard for a full sand dollar but was not lucky enough to find one. There is a small pond there in the park where alligators reside and we saw one lounging in the bushes growing over the pond. St. Andrews is definitely a place I would love to return to.

Jul 2, 2002 - Panama City
St. Andrews State Park in Panama City Florida is a really pretty Park. We spent the week doing lots of things with the kids. Panama City has lots of parks and things for the kids to do. Super Dave brought is boat over several times and took me fishing. We didn't have much luck with the fish but we had a good time anyway. A couple of times he took the whole family out for a day on the water. We even watched the fourth of July fireworks from his boat out in the bay. The fireworks was in sink with some music that was being played by one of...
