Jul 26, 2011 - Still limping North..

After a few unsucessful attempts to try and fix the exhaust problem using various plumbing fixtures care of Home Depot, we had to stop again this time in Hudson Fl.. We ordered some parts to pick up tomorrow and lets hope this will resolve exhaust and transmission. We are wishing we had the car with us after all.. On a positive note, the people at the Three Lakes RV resort are super nice and very generously gave us a care package and the offer of a ride to the Auto Parts store....

Nov 25, 2009 - Port Richey, FL - Thanksving

Not necessarily good planning on our part, but the day before Thanksgiving we were off destined for Port Richey, FL. Thanks to our friends, Chuck & Marilyn, who travel in their rv in Florida, we drove down Hwy 19 instead of going to I-75. The traffic was not bad especially considering the day & the holiday tomorrow. Thank goodness they told us about that "best way" to go south along the west coast of Florida. We are in the Sun Coast RV Park in Pt. Richey which is a short drive to Hank's sister Patty's house. We will be celebrating...

Feb 21, 2009 - Port Richey - Day 9

Today, it was clear and sunny, but still cooler. Last night's low was around 48; not as cold as we thought we might get, which was ok with us. -- First thing this morning, we decided to head back to the flea market. We are totally disappointed with all of you who follow along with us. Not one person mentioned anything about the new sign having a mistake in it!!! I mean really! The only person who noticed was Camille: "Pretty Damm Nice". Well, we decided that we did not want to leave it that way and took it back and had the Damm changed to...

Feb 20, 2009 - Port Richey - Day 8

We said our goodbyes this morning to Nick and Camille. Today, it was definitely cooler and in fact, it is the first day in a long time that we have worn sweatshirts all day. It is supposed to be below 40 degrees tonight, although we should avoid freezing temps here in Port Richey. It was a nice day to do the laundry and do some light cleaning in the rig. Of course, the kids had to follow and watch me do everything. Rocky thought the empty laundry basket was such an exciting new toy and they both always jump at the chance to get into the...

Feb 19, 2009 - Port Richey - Day 7

We enjoyed a rare rainy day today. It was 70 degrees when it started raining softly around noon. The cats were wondering what the heck was going on. They sat at the door and watched it and stood in the hallway looking up at the roof trying to figure out what was making all the noise. It rained long enough to wash all the windows. We spent most of the day inside watching tv, but John managed to get a nice long nap in this afternoon. -- Camille did me the honors of cutting my hair today. It is so nice to have it all nice and even. She was...

Feb 18, 2009 - Port Richey - Day 6

We had another fun day today. The weather was perfect again, although just a tad windy, but that keeps the bugs from eating us. Have I mentioned how awful the bites from the no-seeums are? OMG- They itch so bad you want to scratch them raw. -- We decided to head to Homosassa, a little town north of Port Richey. We went to the Wild Animal Park there which promised us manatees. It is a wonderful park with lots of animals and birds, including a small collection of manatees. -- We started our tour of the park on a boat ride down the Pepper...

Feb 17, 2009 - Port Richey - Day 5

John won at poker last night! Yeah, John! -- We had lots of sunshine today but it felt cooler at 71 degrees and humidity at 42%. After reading the morning paper and having a leisurely morning, we all decided we would go to Tarpon Springs for lunch, which is about 30 minutes to the south of Port Richey. -- Tarpon Springs is a Greek community that is known for natural sponges which were harvested in the area in the past. The little town is full of character. It is beachy but has dozens of Greek restaurants and little shops carrying Greek...

Feb 16, 2009 - Port Richey - Day 4

Today was the ultimate kick back day for me. I got up and immediately started complaining that John had not bought a paper yet. So, I went back to bed. Next time I got up, he had bought a paper (he is so good and so well trained- poor John). After lunch, Mimi and I went back to bed again. It is very windy today and the humidity is lower so it feels cool. It was the perfect day to nap in the sunshine, so I took advantage of it. Plus, I like to recharge my batteries about once a month. I think I have mentioned several times how I feel like...

Feb 15, 2009 - Port Richey - Day 3

We had another laid back morning today. Being Sunday, we had the paper to pour over. I was actually up kind of early - 7:30 - for no particular reason. It was overcast and sprinkley but humid. The Weather Channel said we had 97% humidity with a high temp today of around 70. It looked colder than it was. We started out wearing sweatshirts which we quickly abandoned once we started walking around. -- After our lazy morning, we gathered the troups and headed out to the flea market we saw down Hwy 19. Camille said she couldn't remember the last...

Feb 14, 2009 - Port Richey - Day 2

It was so nice to have a leisurely morning this morning - no hurry to get up and get on the road. It was not as humid today as it was mostly cloudy. Last night, it stayed pretty warm until early morning. -- We decided we would go out for lunch for Valentine's Day. Just down the street is a Red Lobster so we walked over and had a couple of lunch specials, which were excellent. I had two kinds of shrimp and a fish fillet and John had a salad with the clam chowder bread bowl. -- Nick and Camille needed to drive to the Tampa area to pick up...

Feb 13, 2009 - Port Richey, FL

Today, we had a brief drive, about 60 miles, to Port Richey, FL. Most of the way, the highway was lined with all types of businesses as we once again returned to civilization. You cannot tell where one town stops and the next begins in this part of Florida; everything just runs together. It looks like Phoenix or the Bay Area in California. As we approached the park we would be staying in tonight, I was very apprehensive. There was nothing but traffic and congestion and ugly buildings. How could an RV park be nice in this area? But, we had a...
