Jun 11, 2012 - And we're back!
Loved reading all of your encouraging remarks. Larry and Frani--we'd love to come your way, but Sam's (dad's) stomach is rebelling. It will have to wait, but now we've got directions! Sounds like a wonderful spot in ND. We had a great first day, and yes, we had planned on going via Mobile...north to 40 from there, but it's not to be--yet. We haven't given up, but have to get this stomach fixed first so Sam/dad can enjoy the trip. He thought he was okay when we left. Well, the good news is that we had a chance to give the RV a good try,...

Mar 10, 2012 - Spruce Creek
From Mayport, we drove to visit friends who live near Port Orange, FL. Ed and Clark were USAFA classmates and we take any opportunity we can to visit them. This visit was not exactly what we anticipated and I hope we haven’t worn out our welcome. The Lynches live in a fly-in community and have a hangar attached to their house. We parked on the paved area in front of their hangar and have parked there in the past. This time, as Clark was getting the motor home situated, he managed to break a water line. A plumber was there before too long...

Aug 13, 2011 - Packing and Apprehension
Today I started packing. I tried to do some Spanish practice, but that was futile with the loud drums playing coming from my brother's music room. Packing is hard when you have a limited amount of space so my mom is helping me limit the amount of things I pack. All this packing is making me so excited and nervous for my trip. My dad tested me on where Spain was on a map... I failed. I hope that my terrible geography skills will either improve or not affect me too terribly. So that's it for today... I decided to write my first journal entry...

Jun 8, 2010 - Port Orange/Daytona
It was a very short drive over to Port Orange. After setting up, our friends Mike & Patti came to pick us up. We went to their favorite beach view bar/restaurant for lunch. It was overcast and even drizzled a little but that didn’t stop the Daytona Beach crowd. The beach was very active with bathers, bike riders, swimmers & volleyball players. There was even a parasail boat that went by, and a funny little truck that was a vendor with water and slushies. We check out the newly renovated Daytona Pier with amusement rides and a bungee...

Jan 28, 2010 - Canaveral National Seashore
We have arrived safely in Daytona. Well, I guess it’s more accurate to say Port Orange. It was an easy 60 mile drive and we didn’t get in too much of a hurry to leave this morning. I think we finally pulled out of our campsite about 10:30 after goodbyes to Darrell, Judy, Mike and Peggy. We were set up in our new campground, Daytona Beach Carefree RV Resort, about noon. After a quick lunch, we drove the 25 miles or so to Canaveral National Seashore. What we found surprised us. We expected what we had seen at Padre Island National...

Apr 24, 2009 - Gamble Place in Port Orange
I am staying at a KOA in Port Orange, just west of Daytona Beach, because that is where the Florida Chapter of RVW is meeting this month. I decided to give a rally one more shot and this one was worth it. The leaders went out of their way to welcome me when I got here, and let me know what is going on. The people attending this rally are very friendly and interested in me and where I come from and am going to. This morning, we went to the Cracker Creek Canoeing establishment to kayak on the Spruce Creek. Then, we had a nice lunch, rode on a...
