Jan 7, 2021 - Pembroke Pines FL

We spent the weekend in seclusion as my ear healed and we caught up on re-doing some storage and filing things and catching up on daily life tasks...all in preparation for a busy Monday. We were out the door just after 8:30 so I could drop her off at the nail salon then get me to the doctor for the blood draw for my late-by-a-year annual physical by 9:15, then back to pick her up and then after dropping off an envelope to go to Evanston, we were northbound on the turnpike for lunch with Alan and Donna. I worked with Alan and we have been...

Our Villages time wrapped up on December 1st as Michele took her dad to a doctor appointment and I waited as long as I could, but had to leave the campground at 11:00 and point the house south. After she got done with the doctor, Michele hopped on the FL Turnpike and when I stopped for fuel in Fort Pierce, she caught up. We hooked up the Jeep at the Love’s Truck Stop and began our travels again as a couple. We pulled into CB Smith Park in Pembroke Pines for about the zillionth time about 4:30 and by about 6:00 we were off to Steve and...

Our Ocala, Villages and DeBary visits all went pretty much as planned. Some overeating, some socializing and some coach stuff were pretty much the theme of the past couple weeks. We did spend New Year’s Eve at the DeBary Country Club with Dale and Vicky, dining and dancing the night away. And if you believe, in any way, shape or form that I “danced the night away” you are sorely out of touch with reality. If an award was given that evening for the least active guest, yours truly would have been the winner...hands down...as if the odds of...

So, here we go with another change...this time back to the original plan. The hospital changed Michele's mom’s appointment so now we are back to a March 15th departure from overly and unseasonably warm South Florida – though they are calling for lows to plummet into the upper 50’s this weekend...brrrrr. We plan to land in Ocala for a couple days starting the 15th, then off to our other Central Florida home near The Villages for a few days, then it’s off to Red Bay – didn’t see that coming did you? - to get some things done on the new house....

An update mainly just to let you know that there has been a slight change in plans. We have been pretty much on schedule...doctor appointments, visiting with friends, dealing with a motorhome issue and generally being too busy. And we just found out that Michele needs to go with her mom to a doctor thing in Tampa on March 14th so now instead of leaving here on March 15th, it looks like it will be closer to March 12th. So, if you’re on our list of folks to visit, but we haven’t gotten to you yet, you might be getting a phone call in the...

As predicted, things have been busy but not thrilling. Doctor visits are in full swing, we have finally gotten a handle on most – but not all – of our storage and re-arranging issues, been having a few breakfast/lunch/dinner dates with friends and doing some shopping. We did do our short RV show trip to Tampa which was generally a bust. Some things that we were specifically looking for were not even at the show this year so we ended up with not a lot to show for our journey except for adding miles to the Jeep. We got back from Tampa Friday...

As planned, we made it to CB Smith Park just about 4:00 on the afternoon of the 1st and by 5:00 were perched at Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza for some salad, some chicken wings and of course, some pizza...our reward for our non-stop drive from the north end of the Turnpike. Since we got here we have been busting our butts getting things organized. As of tonight I think we have finally gotten the upper hand on stashing and storing though it was touch and go there for awhile. We have a list of about a dozen warranty things that will need to be...

Just a short blurb to let you know we haven’t fallen off the face of the earth... Our first stint at CB Smith was a busy almost 4 weeks of visiting and doctor appointments, and will continue when we get back there after this weekend. Michele went to The Villages to do a dinner for her dad in honor of his 80th birthday while me and the cranky dog trekked a little over an hour west to the middle of the Everglades in the Big Cypress Indian Reservation. The campground is fairly good, a little oldish, but very quiet and everybody is very nice. I...

Greetings from Pembroke Pines. We landed here on the 1st and have set up at CB Smith Park till the 27th when we will have to relocate due to the Chili Cook Off & concert. For the next 3 nights we will be going to Big Cypress Indian Reservation in the middle of the Everglades, then back to CB till February 13th when we will move east to TY Park in Hollywood till at least March 1st. If you’re a local you just might be getting a phone call from us. Plan accordingly...now might be a good time to leave the country for, oh, I don’t know, maybe...

I told you there wouldn't be much to report. We have spent our 3 weeks here in Pembroke Pines catching up with friends and family, doing our part for the local economy and are working on getting all of our doctor visits taken care of. If that ain't a thrill-a-minute lifestyle I don't know what is. Tomorrow we pull up stakes and head to another Broward County park to live out the winter – as defined by the calendar, not the weather – before we head off on another road trip. We think it will be west this time, to the lands of dust and wind,...

May 1, 2015 - The beginning

Well, for those of you that have been wondering where the first living-full-time-on-the-road update is, our vagabond life has not started quite yet, so an update hasn't really been warranted. Besides that, we've been too busy doing non-vagabond stuff. But, in the interest of maintaining some level of interest in this thing, here is a non-moving update. The closing on the house occurred a week later than we had originally planned, and that was a good thing because we were not ready. We had gotten rid of all the big things with a garage sale...

We didn't do much today. I jogged in the morning, Sally did the cleaning she does the day before we move. We went to Wal-Mart and Aldi to get supplies as we will be way back in the everglades for 2 weeks at a camp called Flamingo that's 60-70 miles back in with no real stores. We came back to the RV and put things away. Then waited for a while before heading back to Wal-Mart to pick up our prescriptions. Of course there was a problem. We now have to go back Wednesday AM. I really hope they get it right. In the afternoon we sat in the sun....
