Mar 27, 2013 - Staying in Palm Beach Gardens

I am staying at Gette & Rosemary's house taking care of their dogs while they vacation in Ecuador and the galapagos Islands! They live in the complex that hosts the Honda Classic Golf Tournament! I don't think I ever took pictures of their house and since Quinn is a new member of the family, I need to include her too! I know I have pics of Java, but you will see her in these pictures also. Quinn is still a puppy and is very lively. Java is getting older and is not as fast to run around anymore. But they are both good dogs and love to go on...

Jan 8, 2013 - Florida Farewells

It's so great that most trips from SF to Santiago have stopovers in Miami. We scheduled a multi-day layover so we could spend some time with family. Alan's sister and her family (Robin and Jon and the boys Jesse, and Daniel) were visiting his folks (Harvey and Char) at PGA, so we overlapped and got to see them all. Mom loved the feeling of the crazy busy house like the old days back growing up in New Rochelle, NY. But after all the traffic and recent visits from our other siblings I think they were ready for some peace and quiet. Not to...

Dec 31, 2012 - 2012 to 2013

For this trip east, I went to stay with Gette and Rose and meet Quinn while not forgetting Java. Quinn is the same size as Java but is black and white and real cute. She took to me quite quickly but still barked upon seeing me the next morning because she didn't expect to find me in her house! I had a great visit. On Sunday evening, we went to Duffy's for dinner and then I was treated to a good seat in the Kravis Center to see "The Jersey Boys" with them! What a good surprise - the musical was real fine and we had a great time together!...

Nov 3, 2012 - Early Thanksgiving

Because everyone is doing something away from each other this Thanksgiving, we gathered a few weeks early to enjoy each other's company and great food. Connie and Dann are caring for their son's dog while he is deployed in Afghanistan. They recently lost their own Lexi, a cocker spaniel, so this helps take away the loneliness in the house, I suppose. Who ever saw a dog that looks like that? And she loves people, especially women, but hates and wants to devour dogs. So I haven't met Gette & Rose's new dog, Quin yet and the 3 Bostons weren't...

Mar 25, 2012 - Weekend with the Girls from Palm Beach

On Friday, I drove up to see Gette & Rose, who now live in Palm Beach Gardens, right in the complex where the Honda Classic golf tournament is held every year! Gette was home, doing her homework when I got there and Rose was still at her job as a manager for the Florida Power & Light Company. they used to have 3 dogs, but now just have Java, a Dobeagle! Anyway, after taking Java for a walk and helping Gette organize her homework on the computer in class files, we went to a nail place and had a pedicure! Yes, me! It was a wierd experience,...

Aug 30, 2011 - Yellowstone Bear Attack

Hi everyone: I'm not sure if you remember but in one of our Yellowstone Entries we took a picture of the "Mary Mountain Trail" sign and one of the lakes that is situated on one of its Trailheads. We passed this trail at least three times during our 5 day visit to the Park this year and briefly talked about hiking it but it was 13 miles one way and we'd have no way to get back to our car other than to hike back - that's 26 miles in open country. Most hikers park one car at one end of the trail then drive around the Southern Loop Road to the...

Apr 4, 2010 - Greek Easter with my Florida family

On Saturday, Jeanne and I went up to the Gardens with the Bostons and found out that Gette & Rose had new acroutrements in their back yard! What fun to sit in the jacuzzi for a few minutes then jump into the unheated pool to cool off! Later, we rested at the table with a cool drink and good conversations. Laurie joined us when she got off of work. Gette managed to stay up until midnight and watched the Greek church service through her laptop! I went to church on Sunday with Gette & Rose, then had a great afternoon with the family. Dann,...

Feb 5, 2010 - Some of my favorite things

Gette and Rosemary are on a week long cruise and I am taking care of their dogs and watching the house for them. The air was too cool to even think about swimming in that pool and I couldn't bring myself to sit out in the yard most of the time! But I could pursue some letterboxes in the area and by doing that, I saw some wildlife and walked on new trails. When the girls got back, we went to one of the parks and found a couple of letterboxes, so that was fun for me anyway!

Jan 3, 2010 - Jeanne's Birthday Bash

Jeanne wished to have a party with her family and friends, so we went up to Palm Beach Gardens where Gette and Rosemary live, after visiting Miami Beach. Dinner was at Ouzo Blue, a Greek restaurant near the house. The patrons don't break plates during the party anymore - they throw napkins and yell "OPA" and dance on the tables. Greek dancers come out each hour to belly dance around the tables, enticing people to dance with them. We joined in with the dancing after our dinner and what we did is not captured on "film", so you just have to...

Apr 19, 2009 - Greek Easter!

Georgette is lucky that there is a Greek restaurant within 2 miles of her house. Today is Greek Easter and she loves to host a party at her house but it wasn't practical this year because of the triathlon and the Delray Affair. The town of Delray is having their 47th annual street fair this weekend and that's where we went after the triathlon to wind down and have lunch. Also, the Boston Terrier Rescue is in Delray and they participate in the street fair every year. Jeanne & Laurie visit them yearly and do their part to promote the Rescue,...

Mar 10, 2009 - West Palm Beach Fla

Our first overnight was at West Palm Beach where we really started learning about RV rituals...hookups, pull throughs and waste dumps. We did well but were thankful for the help offered with back-up manoeuvres into our site. It was great to later have the opportunity to share a red or two with our good samaritans, Jim and Bonnie from Pennsylvania...forever to be remembered as 'King James' and 'Queen Bonnie'. Mind you the 'King' promised we'd see the Shuttle take-off that evening, which it never did...but the 'red' and the company were...
