Mar 23, 2013 - livin good in a state park

Saturday, March 23, 2013 Well we bailed out of the trailer trash park in North Fort Myers and traveled all of 16 miles north to Punta Gorda. And we found out it is pronounced Punt-a as in kick a football punt. Not pooonta as we were saying it. We stayed there for 4 days in a too expensive so-so park but we got half off the first 3 nites so wasn’t so bad. We hit a small art fair at a park in downtown Punta Gorda. B got some more pottery so she was happy. They have a nice downtown area. We hit a touristy place called Fisherman’s Village which...

Mar 30, 2010 - Settling in to Polynesian Village

Monday 3/29/10 Ann says.... We have been settling in to our new digs and are finding ourselves very happy with our home. There are things to do and in spite of Dave thinking he would no longer have any more chores, he's finding a honey-do list even in paradise! At least the list doesn't have such chores such as "make a bathroom out of a spare bedroom" or "put down new floors throughout the first floor". The idea is to make this place "ours". You wouldn't think that finding a kitchen/dining room table and chairs wouldn't be a major issue...

Feb 27, 2010 - Disney & New Home

Saturday 2/27/10 Dave says... (Reminder....double click on a photo to see full size and advance thru list...) Breaking news.....Plans are upside down and all messed up. WE ARE BUYING OUR NEW HOME in Englewood, Florida, which is the next town south of Venice. We found a place in "Polynesian Village" which is a cooperative ownership mobile home park. We own our lot (as a share of the park) and pay a small monthly fee for lawn care, TV, and recreation facilities of swimming pool, shuffle board, bocce, and club house activities. Also has...

Jan 31, 2010 - Still kickin'...enjoying the FL lifestyle

Howdy folks! We are still alive and kicking. Been though some cold weather recently and I’m sure glad I packed that extra comforter. You can take the gal out of Yankee New England but you can’t take the Yankee out of the girl. Granted, I wasn’t thinking of it being that cold while we were here and had the trip back home in mind, but it all works out. Haven’t been on my bike very much. (Diana and Ann – nothing to laugh at, move along!! lol) I finally figured out why I felt so unsteady while on the bike – discounting old age senility of...

Dec 1, 2009 - New (old) bikers....

12/01/09 Tuesday Dave says.... Thanksgiving dinner went well. Our turkey cooked just fine...I think the amount of stress radiated by the cook helped to make it tender. She stressed about it getting done for the noon delivery and being done to her high standards. Dinner at the recreation hall brought out somewhere around 250 people. All seemed to go smoothly and lines were orderly and fairly quick. Surprising how fast the old folks can move when there is food to be had!! My holiday stress occurred over a couple days before Thanksgiving....

Nov 25, 2009 - Happy Thanksgiving !!!!!

Wednesday 11/25/09 Well it seems to have stopped raining this afternoon. It POURED this morning. Can't complain...they need rain here. Donny P. called this morning to harass me when he saw we were being rained on. Thats OK...I won't trade places with him!!! Weather has been stunning since we arrived. Sunny and 80 during the day and 70 at night. Makes it nice to sit outside and watch the world go by...along with a snooze now and then and some reading. Life is good... People are friendly here in the park. Seen 4 or 5 NH plates and a few from...

Nov 19, 2009 - Nokomis, FL (HOME for the winter!!!!!)

11/19/09 Thursday evening 5:30, very nice 73 degrees.... Dave says... Well, we looked at RV parks in the Sarasota and Venice area for a few days and found space available at all. That's contrary to what I expected...had heard you needed to reserve far ahead to stand a chance. I'm sure economy isn't helping things and signing up for FIVE MONTHS may have helped. Our final choice was the first one we looked at and the one I least expected to choose since it is the most expensive. But as things turned out, after comparing long term rates it is...

Jun 16, 2009 - Headin' to Florida

Tuesday 6/16..Whistlestop Tour Day 12!! Leaving Bob and Brigits - we headed out - were rerouted by Garmin and made it through/around Atlanta with no problem. The rest of the trip was a breeze. We arrived a day early but AnnMarie was as gracious as ever. Our time in the Nokomis (south of Tampa) was great. We got to spend time with the Kuffers, Margaritas with their neighbors, at the beach with Christian and fun at Scotty's birthday party - remember...Florida in June - eat the ice cream cake 1st!!! Jim and I went up to St Pete one evening -...

Dec 28, 2008 - Having Fun in Nokomis

Our drive down from Bushnell to Sarasota on the 26th was relaxing even though there were a lot of holiday travelers on the road. Upon arriving to Sarasota we checked into the Sun-N-Fun RV Resort and what a nice resort it is! After being escorted to a lovely site by the lake (with reminders not to feed the alligators) we quickly got Clyde plugged in and then set off to explore our surroundings. This resort, aside from being well manicured and clean, has dog runs (which Blayde appreciated), a lovely pool, Jacuzzis, an impressive computer...

Nov 22, 2007 - East Coast of Florida

Long time no write. We hadn't heard from anyone, so we figured no one was listening. To much fun to be had if no one was reading. But, I am so glad to hear from you-all again. Glad you are all well. We are spending Thanksgiving on the Gulf of Mexico by the beautiful clear blue sea. Decided to hole up hear for a few days over the holiday, and we are glad we did. We have done a LOT of stuff and seen a LOT of sights since we were up north, when I wrote last. We traveled down the east coast and have totally enjoyed Charleston, Savannah, et.al....

East Coast Trip 2007

Oct 30, 2007 - Nokomis Florida

What are we doing back in Florida??!! Well, it' was Chris's birthday yesterday and when we were in PA we thought "Wouldn't it be great to surprise everybody and go to her party.".... And, with Trev and I being the kinda people that we are we decided that was a fine idea and we would leave post haste. And we left the next day at 9am after a lovely parting breakfast with Anne and Alice and travelled 23 hours and made it to Chris's birthday. We had been toying with the idea of coming back here for Thanksgiving and then we thought we should...
