Apr 18, 2014 - Tampa to Miami

First day of our trip, we flew to Miami early morning and boarded the Norwegian Pearl for our 15 day cruise through the Panama Canal. We joined a group of fellow work campers from Arizona. Lee and Denise, whom we worked with last summer in Oregon, got us involved and is it sure to be fun time. We boarded around noon and departed Miami at four. Jeans first order of business was signing up for the 16 bottles of wine for the cruise and a Wine-tasting-musical show, held on the last sailing day of the trip. Jean was afraid all the places would...

Jan 26, 2014 - Naples :-)

So happy to be in beautiful Naples ! We have decided, after making our way down the east coast of Florida , and now rounding the tip to be on the Gulf side, we much prefer the Gulf side of Florida . The white sand as soft as flour , with amazing shells, and the million varieties of palms is breathtaking? The resort is small and not as grand the the MiamiEverglades RV resort , but we are so close to so many gorgeous beaches we can tolerate anyplace. Love To All :-)

What a great experience ! miles & miles of boardwalks on very high stilts to preserve the Eco system but still allow the public the appreciate all the Everglades have to offer. I didn't know the Glades were the largest sub tropic al preserve in North America..with clean fresh water..no swamps here....put the everglades on your bucket list.......this 1.5 million acre paradise will not be here forever .......

Jan 20, 2014 - Big Cypress and Everglades

After the cruise, we picked the bus up in Naples and headed south bound for the Keys. We stopped in Miami to break up the trip and visit a few National Parks - Biscayne National Park, Big Cypress National Preserve, and the Everglades National Park. Biscayne National Park is primarily an underwater park, but they have a nice visitor’s center explaining the ecosystem and the effects of hurricanes on the system. Both Big Cypress and Everglades were full of various bird species and gators sunning themselves. However, what catches your...

Jan 19, 2014 - Day 1-3 Portland to Seattle to Fort Lauderdale to Miami

Left the car at the Hampton Inn at PDX. Sean had said when you take the shuttle to Seattle you get to bypass the security line. Right on! After coffee we headed north. At Seattle the flight was delayed due to construction in Florida. Only one runway available! The trip was long but quite smooth most of the way! The shuttle driver called as we were taxi-ing in saying he was waiting for us. We didn't see much on the way to Miami due to darkness though. The hotel did not impress us...out of the 50's! But it is close to the pier and offers a...

This one isn’t quite as nice as Vero Beach, but it gives us easy access to shore with all that Miami has to offer (not to mention much warmer weather...

Jan 11, 2014 - Miami Everglades RV resort

What a ride we had from Daytona to Miami !!! Daytona was very rainy when we left and we were 1/2 way to miami when the clouds opened up OMG !!!! Buckets of rain were coming down , instant flash flooding, car accidents everywhere , roads closed and then ..,..... Our windshield wipers stopped working . when your driving a 37 ft RVs & towing a car , you can't pull over to the side of the road quickly, esp when you can't see. Poor Pete, we slowly took the very next exit and pulled into a large truck stop. One hundred phone calls and 2 hrs later...

Jan 8, 2014 - Another sea day - how we are enjoying ourselves!

Tuesday 7 January Day 7 - Sea day travelling between Cuba and Haiti towards Costa Rica We're getting into a routine now. It's been really smooth sailing with barely a ripple and glorious sunny days so the cruising is perfect. We've been having breakfast (sensible you'll be glad to hear) in our rooms every morning at half six and that then encourages us to get up and going. John does his walk around the deck and visits the gym while I have my swim. A lady noticed my routine this morning and suggested we got a group together to to the...

Jan 6, 2014 - At sea

Sunday 5 January Day 5 - We leave Fort Lauderdale We were in real anticipation mode this morning. We'd done most of our packing up yesterday so had time to have a relaxed breakfast, settle our bill and wait for our transport to the docks. The transport arrived an hour early so I'm glad we were organised. There was an amazing array of ships in the various docks. The driver said it could accommodate up to 20 cruise ships at a time (Gold Coast go eat your heart out!). There were about eight in ranging from our little MV Prinsendam with 780...
