Jan 23, 2015 - Going home

Friday, January 23rd -- Snowbirds flying north Sadly, today was our 10th and final day aboard the Tartane. It was only a short motor trip from Tintamarre to Captain Oliver's Marina in Oyster Pond and we didn't have to relinquish the boat until 11:00. We were in no particular rush for breakfast but the boat had other ideas. At 4:30 the battery's low voltage alarm sounded. Our cabin was the closest to the Navigation Station so Hubby was the first (or maybe only) one to hear it and turn it off. At that time of the morning he couldn't fall...

Jan 16, 2015 - On My Way To Panama

Here I go again. This time I'm off to see Panama. This is another recommendation from Live and Invest Overseas. Many American expats live in Panama and especially in the mountain town of Boquete that I plan to spend a month in. I have signed up for Spanish Language classes at the Habla Ya Language School. The classes are every day from 1 pm to 5 pm. I'll be spending a month in Boquete, then 2 weeks traveling around the west Pacific coast and south to Panama City, leaving for home (ST. Croix) on March 1. (Peru in April) I had enough AA...

Jan 2, 2015 - Wynwood Wall Art

Another beautiful day! Laurie is off from work, so the three of us went just north of downtown Miami to see fine art on walls. Wynwood is a neighborhood in mid-Miami that has historically been a factory district. It became rundown and graffiti artists painted many abandoned buildings. Then someone had an idea to turn that art into something people would want to come and see. Restaurants and art galleries were enticed to come and people were encouraged to paint buildings in creative ways. There is one main section or courtyard containing...

Dec 30, 2014 - Chihuly!

What a beautiful day! Jeanne took me to Fairchild Gardens where Chihuly has displayed more of his glass works all around the park. He has had works displayed more than once at only 2 places in the world, and this is his third time here! I remember seeing his work and learning about him at this place - his first display, I think. I took 94 pictures and kept 83 of them, so that says something about how much I liked the visit. It was extremely hard to pick the few I am sharing here.

Dec 15, 2014 - Noel 2014....dans le sable

Bonjour!

Sep 22, 2014 - Day 17

Hi Everyone, Today began on a sad note as we drove from our base over the last three nights in Kissimmee to Miami International Airport to drop off Pistol who left us to travel home via Denver and Los Angeles. Pistol was only with us for 17 days but he will be missed for his quick wit and incredible dexterity, especially when it comes to shelling peanuts. So bon voyage mate and don't forget to urn the seat warmer off on the plane. So having dropped Pistol at the airport and with a thunderstorm brewing in the distance, we made our way out of...

Jul 19, 2014 - Arrived in Miami - USA

We've arrived in Miami, USA Today is Saturday 19th July and we arrived in Miami yesterday evening. We had a 15 hour travelling day, rising at 4am and eventually arriving at our airport hotel at about 7pm. We had an interesting descent into the airport with a bit of rough air causing the plane to resemble a roller coaster for a while. This caused some of the younger and more nervous flyers a little concern and the crew received a spontaneous round of applause from the cabin when we eventually touched down. We met a very nice border official...

Jun 22, 2014 - Depart Miami for Vienna

Our trip started out with delays in Miami due to the usual late afternoon thunderstorms. Managed to take off an hour late once storm passed. Flight to Frankfurt was an experience to say the least -- uncomfortable, crying babies, sick passengers, and only two working restrooms for those of us in the "cheap seats." Needless to say there was very little sleeping going on. Then the flight to Vienna was delayed due to delayed arrival of the plane...but we finally took a little nap.

Apr 20, 2014 - Back in the US of A

We were taken to the airport about 10 AM for a 12:55 flight home. Linda had to leave at 3:40 for her flight and Barb had to leave at 5:15 for hers! There is a 2 hour difference between here and Florida, so we got in at 6 PM. Customs was a cinch! Jeanne paid for half the cab fare from the airport to her house and I got there just in time for a Greek Easter dinner with them and Eric and Debbie and Eric's roommate! How cool is that?

Apr 18, 2014 - Tampa to Miami

First day of our trip, we flew to Miami early morning and boarded the Norwegian Pearl for our 15 day cruise through the Panama Canal. We joined a group of fellow work campers from Arizona. Lee and Denise, whom we worked with last summer in Oregon, got us involved and is it sure to be fun time. We boarded around noon and departed Miami at four. Jeans first order of business was signing up for the 16 bottles of wine for the cruise and a Wine-tasting-musical show, held on the last sailing day of the trip. Jean was afraid all the places would...

Jan 26, 2014 - Naples :-)

So happy to be in beautiful Naples ! We have decided, after making our way down the east coast of Florida , and now rounding the tip to be on the Gulf side, we much prefer the Gulf side of Florida . The white sand as soft as flour , with amazing shells, and the million varieties of palms is breathtaking? The resort is small and not as grand the the MiamiEverglades RV resort , but we are so close to so many gorgeous beaches we can tolerate anyplace. Love To All :-)
