Nov 22, 2012 - Please - A Dull Moment
We have been enjoying ourselves at Brickyard Plantation Golf & RV Park, although for workampers we are certainly not earning our keep at this point. The main job they have in mind for us is to mind the pro shop in the evenings when people are in the party room playing cards, and locking up at night. This does not sound very difficult, especially since they really want us to join in and play. Hopefully people will want to buy some beer, or soda, or snacks so we can bring in a little income for the owners. Since most of the snowbirds are just...

Nov 11, 2012 - 11-11-2012 Miami Florida
Hi Trip Followers Sorry have been slow updating journal. Have found this part of the trip quite tiring. Disney world is great and what we have seen and done has been enjoyable but I enjoyed Disneyland on our last holiday much more for two reasons. Disneyland was right across the road from where we stayed and we could walk there no problems. Disneyland was much more contained and we had no problems walking around the attractions. It was quite a bit of walking but we didn't have much downtime. California Land was within walking distance and...

Nov 4, 2012 - Miami
The end of Daylight Savings Time worked out pretty well for us this morning. We were able to get an extra hour of sleep and still get on the road by 8:30 for our trek north to our home for the night at Larry & Penny Thompson Park next to the Dade County Metrozoo. The trip up US1 from near Key West was great. The weather was absolutely perfect – temperature was about 75, a light breeze and hardly a cloud to be seen. The Overseas Highway, as this stretch of US1 is called, is a road that is known as one of the most scenic trips in the US -...

Got up at 3:00am for our limo driver Nigel to pick us up for the airport The flight to Sydney was not on time and left only about 3/4 hour in Sydney before getting on the flight to Dallas We had booked seats at the rear for more room as it was on a 747. They were pretty good 15 hours is a long flight that seemed to drag on but finally arrived in Dallas only to take over an hour to get through immigration , another 20 mins to get through security leaving us enough time to walk to the gate and straight onto the aircraft for the third flight...

We started Friday morning off right. We took the family to one of my favorite breakfast places in the whole world - Egg & You in Fort Lauderdale. I ate their countless times while living in Ft. Lauderdale, and I missed the eggs benedict! I ordered them up and they did not disappoint! We took a little drive around the Fort Lauderdale area (Mia and Brooke had not been their before) and the kids were very impressed with the isle off of Las Olas Blvd. The houses, the boats, the cars.... What they didn´t realize was the contrast they would soon...

Jun 1, 2012 - Miami to Quito, Equador
Friday, June 1, 2012 Another adventure begins. The bags are packed and it is rainy, rainy, rainy in south Florida. But our excitement builds for our adventure to Equador and The Galapagos Islands. We packed last night - actually didn't pack as much for this trip since there is a weight limit on the flight from Quito to the islands. Leave Ft Lauderdale at noon and drive to the Miami airport. Park the car and check in for our American Airlines flight from Miami to Quito, Equador. We are in Business Class so that will make this a more...

May 21, 2012 - Departure Day
I have flown independently once. I instantly regretted my airport snack choice. Honey mustard and onion pretzels, although quite tasty, were a mistake. I vomited promptly after elbowing my way through the line of passengers. It was a two hour flight. Today I depart from Miami International Airport at 17:25... I will be landing in Heathrow London at 6:40AM the following day. I am nervous in all the right ways. Scared with excitement. My goal in making this dream a reality has completely consumed my daily thoughts. This trip has invaded my...

May 5, 2012 - Birthday weekend continued
After an expensive 1 night stay in Key West, we made the drive to Miami and stayed at the amazing Marriott Inn Biscayne Bay. We literally could not stop screaming as soon as we walked in and saw our view. It was the actual birthday and instead of partying hard, we were all passed out by 10:30pm. Needless to say, waking up that morning to the view was the best!

Mar 11, 2012 - Odysseo!
I splurged and went to a show of horses and acrobatic maneuvers in downtown Miami today! They didn't allow any cameras or cell phone usage inside the tent, so I couldn't take any pictures of the magnificent show, but I can provide you with a website that talks about the show - http://cavalia.net/en/odysseo I think if you view the photos and video on the website you will get a good idea of what I saw. It was impressive. I never watched a Cirque du Soleil show but this seems to be pretty close! Even though I bought the cheapest seat, the view...

It was a long day at the interview, but after it was finished, Kelly and I headed in to south beach.. a place I have been dreaming about going to for SO long....
