Apr 8, 2016 - Cruise on the Ecape - Eastern Carribean

Drove with our friends from their beautiful house in Maitland to Miami for our 7 day cruise. Boarded around 2PM. Have 2 days at sea before we arrive at St. Thomas. The ship is the 5th largest in the world, our room is on the 14th floor and there are 19. Its mega ship.

Mar 25, 2016 - At Sea and Returning to Miami

March 24-26, 2016 At Sea and Returning to Miami After five very busy days, we were ready to just be lazy. There was no need to have breakfast brought to the room as we had become accustomed to on the touring days. We just made it down by the 10AM cut-off for breakfast and then had a minimal lunch of dainty sandwiches and a cappuccino. Dinners were another thing since we had a Chef’s Table reserved for the last night and the food in the main restaurant was just too good to pass up. Anne has become the Creme Brûlée fan and had that delectable...

Mar 16, 2016 - Azamara Caribbean Cruise Aboard The Journey

Today we drive the relatively short distance to the Miami Cruise Port from our overnight stay at the Hampton Inn Blue Lagoon. After driving around twice looking for the correct parking garage at the port, we found it. Our sailing was set for 5PM and we arrived early, so the check-in was quite quick. The ship, The Azamara Journey, is a relatively small cruise ship with a total of 686 passengers. A Disney mega-ship departed at the same time, and its departure whistle sounded out "When you wish upon a star". It dwarfed us as it passed by. Be...

Mar 12, 2016 - Headed home

Up after a very restful sleep and have breakfast. Pack our stuff then head down to the entry. We do a bit of shopping for souvenirs, along with a bit of haggling, and geta few things. With the van finally loaded we head off to the airport. Normal security checks (twice) and all seems to go well. We head upstairs to the restaurant area and have some drinks and a bit of lunch on our three hour wait. It turned out well because at the table next to us was a group from Midwives for Haiti whom Kitty had been trying to contact for some time. We...

To the Isle of Cows

Mar 10, 2016 - fly toward Santiago

The departure from Las Vegas couldn't have gone more smoothly. The Uber driver arrived at our campground less than five minutes after Ken paged him with the app. We all looked at his google maps app and decided together on the best route to the airport. Las Vegas taxi drivers are well known for running up the meter with creative routing. The driver ranted and raved about how much he enjoys driving for Uber and before we knew it, we arrived at American Airlines. We got a coupon as first time users. Cost for the ride - $3. We 're fans! After...

Mar 5, 2016 - Gator Park

Other than the alligators, snakes, snapping turtles, and burmese pythons, you have nothing to worry about. Ok, the article this graphic links to doesn't mention "Stayin' Alive" as one of the activities, I just put it in there. There are some great places to see and things to do on your visit to the Florida Everglades. I'm in my motorhome, parked at "Gator Park", about 15 miles west of Miami, and there are hundreds of alligators within a block of me right now. It is 2 AM, and normally, when one of our two small dogs need to go outside in the...

Feb 22, 2016 - Miami, Our Jumping Off Point

We drove into Miami and arrived at the hotel a little after 11. Our room was not available yet, but we got our car parked where we could leave it for the next 2 weeks. We had signed up for a tour by van of Miami, and David, the tour guide, came about noon. There were about 9 of us on the tour. He gave a good tour through Little Havana, downtown, South Beach/Ocean Drive, Coconut Grove, and Coral Gables. In Little Havana we got out and went to a cigar store and a dominoes park. At the dominoes park a commercial was being filmed, so our...

Dec 7, 2015 - Not happy, Miami

Miami has continued to throw us some curveballs. Yesterday we spent the day sucking mouldy air into our lungs and binge watching One Tree Hill. We are trying to save some money plus after the day before we both needed to rest. Today, after being woken at 6am by the extremely disgusting and rude girls sharing the house with us ( they leave all their stuff everywhere and use both bathrooms so we have to wait and mess is all over the place) and they had been out all day and night and only rocked home at 6am, noisily packed their stuff and...

J in the USA!

Dec 6, 2015 - Miami

I hit a wall yesterday. It's funny, every time I/we did planning we powered through booking accomodation, sorting out stuff, researching places to visit and every time we hit Florida we had enough and stopped. Amazingly it hit me yesterday and I had enough. I want my own bed and car and not arrive in a place with zero idea of where I am and how to get around. It's very frustrating as some people are friendly and help you and others aren't and expect because you are here you must know your way around. I think we should have a car in Miami...

Nov 1, 2015 - South for the Winter

Leaving Elkhart for points South Finally, we had our rig back, and were so pleased with our new full-body paint and interior improvements. It was time to move back into our lives, and get back on the road. We left Elkhart and were focused on getting south for the winter. We had several good travel days, and stopped in Kinston, NC to see friends. NORTH CAROLINA - Morehead City While we have enjoyed traveling with fellow RVérs Carson and Diane in the past, this time we were in their territory, and they wanted to show us some of North...

Mar 18, 2015 - Kerouac, Dali and Visas

Here it is, Thursday late afternoon, and I am just starting to work on yesterday's posting. Yesterday we attended our appointments at the French Consulate in Miami to submit our paperwork for long term tourist visas. We spent most of three days last week finding, organizing, printing and copying the package required for the application, not so easy when you live in a small camper without a printer. Fortunately, there was a very kindly staffed UPS store nearby, and the packages were finally ready to go on Monday. This also required my...
