May 10, 2013 - On the Road to the Beach

We were on the road again traveling to Madison where we spendt the night. The wildflowers along the road were very pretty and a lot of them. The campground we stayed at was Deerwood RV Park and Motel. It used to be a KOA but was now private owned. Not a great place but not expensive either for a one night stop. There is a black bug that is everywhere now. We saw a bus front that was covered with them. They are thick in the air at this spot so we stayed indoors. We did get out to eat at Wendy's which was just down the road. We will move on...

Spring Trips 2013

Oct 15, 2012 - Madison, fl

Today we bought diesel twice, checked tire pressure once, and took a long otherwise uneventful drive to Madison, getting to the campground as night was falling. It becomes dark much earlier here in the south. We are in a treed campground, no satellite. The ice maker has frozen over again - time to be back at The Ranch.

Summer 2012

Mar 15, 2012 - Yogi Bears Jellystone Park, Madison, FL

We’re on the move, from Naval Station Mayport to Panama City CSS at Panama City Beach, FL. There will be one intermediate stop for 3 days at Yogi Bears Jellystone Park at Madison, FL it’s along I-10. Are excited to see Yogi, Booboo, Cindy and Ranger Smith! The drive was only, 120 miles to Yogi’s place. We were greeted warmly by staff and encouraged to be active and have fun. It’s a large place, with many RV spaces, cabins, a fishing lake, water slide, pool, mini golf and lots of activities. One of the usual things we do when we arrive at a...

Mar 31, 2011 - Madison FL, to Biloxi, MS

We left about 10am, got fuel and hit the road. The was sunny and much cooler than it has been in Bonita Springs. Humidity pretty low as well. the drive was smooth, other than a few maniacs on the road. We are really appreciating the Washington drivers! We made reservations at Mazalea Travel Park in the morning, thinking maybe we would have difficulty finding a campground due to all the Snowbirds heading home, but that does not seem to be the case at all. The park is pretty nice with all paved sites, however old they may be. Seems to be a...

Home Again 2011

Mar 21, 2011 - Madison, Florida

Today we moved on to Madison which is just east of Tallahassee. We decided to stay at a Yoki Bear Jellystone Park. We usually avoid the Yogi Bear parks as they are really geared to families with children and during peak seasons are usually very crowded. This was a Passport America Park (1/2 price with our Passport membership). There were not a lot of people in the park and it was one of the nicer Yogi Bear parks we've seen. There were a lot of trees, but none that hindered getting around the park or in or out of our site. There was a nice...

Back to Arizona

Feb 8, 2011 - Madison, FL

Another quick overnight stop. You probably can’t tell, but on these one –nighters, I leave the slides in and only connect the power. This time, I even left the trailer connected to the truck – not as much to do in the morning. When I pulled in here, another rig came in right behind me – from Springfield, Oregon, no less. Time Traveled: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.; 7 hours Distance: 359 miles

We always wanted to visit here but felt it was too far away for a weekend trip. We are still about 375 miles from home for tomorrow's drive. While on I-10 today, friends of ours from Boynton Beach passed us on the highway some 550 miles from home. We also entered back into the eastern time zone. This campground...

Summer Trip 2009

Apr 1, 2009 - Campground Bummer

We got a earlier than planned departure from Thousand Trails Orlando. We had planned to leave about 9AM but we were rolling out at 8:11 and I think we hit every red light between the campground and the Florida Turnpike. Once on the turnpike and Interstate 75 we were moving along good for a few hours until we hit some heavy rain. I don't like driving in the rain but we were only 30 or so miles from the park in Jasper we were planning to stay at for the night. It was to be a 170 mile easy day but we didn't find the campground right away and...

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

Nov 12, 2007 - Foley, AL, to Madison, FL

On the road again - as the song says - after being in one place longer than anywhere else so far during our great adventure! It felt so strange to "pack up", but there is more new territory to discover so off we go again. On our way out of Foley, we came across this cotton field waiting to be harvested. Cool! Observation: As we have been updating this journal we have noted that the number of "spectacular views" seems to have decreased. This is not an indication of the lack of beautiful scenery - the "Spanish Moss" photo doesn't do justice...

Our Great Adventure

Jul 15, 2006 - Madison, FL

We are in Madison, FL camping with our three grandsons, Jared, Brandon and Cameron. We all had a ball swimming in the lake. We grilled hamburgers on the grill and the boys had ice cream for dessert. This is a very nice Jellystone Park. They have huge slides into the water and lots of recreational things for the boys to do. We all had a great weekend together. I will let the pictures tell the rest of the story.
