Jan 9, 2013 - Bob's Teen Years Revisited
Most people in my life do not know about my teen farm experiences. When I was in 7th grade (1957 I think), my family took residence in a home that was on a farm ... dad was an accountant for them and the residence, use of the house, was his pay. My teens were lived out on this setting ... and my job there included farm work. I "cut my teeth" in the farming work with this job driving a Farmall "H" tractor. My employer was Hamilton Farms, Inc. and my first pay was issued in "Hamiltons" ... $10 bills ... ironic, eh? My time "on the farm" was...

Mar 17, 2012 - St. Patrick's Day
And here is all I'm going to say about this day. I am an American. I am not a Scottish-American, not an Irish-American, a German-American, an Italian-American, an African-American. We are all just Americans and we should be proud of that as a stand alone. OK, so this day is not a biggie for me, enough. Shirley got up early yesterday and took her first sunRISE pictures at the beach. We packed up and travelled to Shirley's sister's winter home in Leesburg Fl. Leona and Dale bought a mobile home in an absolutely beautiful park. Everything is...

Oct 26, 2011 - Home again
This is the end of the road for me and Roger. We got home last night around 6:30 after a long day of travel from Biloxi, MS. Had fun in Biloxi even though we came home a little lighter in the wallet. Still our rooms were comped and we paid for all our meals with our total reward points, so it wasn't a total loss. Now it's back to the real world...cooking, cleaning, bowling...Yeah!!! GLAD TO BE HOME!!! Carol and Sonny head north today. We wish them a safe trip home. It was a fun two months and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Sep 10, 2011 - Maryland Trip Final Thoughts
Saturday 9/10/11 Maryland Trip Final Thoughts Traveling in an RV can be a little tricky if the trip is not properly planned. In an effort to see everything as rapidly as possible it’s too easy to miss the little out-of the-way places and the constant moving itself can be very tiring. On our trip to Maine we made prior reservations that forced us to bypass many interesting sights even though we stopped for 2 days for every day we traveled. The trip out west provided it’s own challenges with the great expanse of prairies making for long days...

Jul 18, 2011 - Preparing for our trip
First on our preparations list is making the itinerary. Carol and I have been working through the AAA travel website mapping and remapping our route. We have settled on what we think is our final route - but all stops are subject to change until we actually book our hotel rooms. We've started making our reservations. Booking most hotels through Hotels.com with the expectation of getting one free night for every ten nights booked. First stop - Best Western Fallsview, Niagara Falls, Canada. We will be within walking distance of one of...

May 9, 2011 - Leesburg, Florida - Crane Photo
Thanks for visiting our Trip Journal. The one photo attached is of the Sandhill Crane family that lives in our commmunity. They walked behind our house on the 8th green last week. Have a great day. Truck/RV Talk Since we arrived home last October, we have made several changes/improvements to our truck and RV. We were informed by our bankrupt RV manufacturer lawyers that our RV axle bearings were overloaded due to the offset of the wheels and could fail. The axle supplier offered both brake drum type and disc brake type axles at half price...

Leesburg (Florida) Bike Fest 2011 We scheduled our departure from Florida to coincide with the Leesburg Bike Fest. This is an event that we have attended for the past three years and wanted to attend this year as the official opening event for our trek to Massachusetts. We rode our bikes on the 100 mile round trip. The temperature reached into the upper 80's. When we returned home we realized that we had too much sun...we look like cooked lobster...thanks goodness for aloe vera to cool the burn just a little. We spent about 5-6 hours...

In preparation for our trip to Fort Myers, we loaded our 5th-wheel with clothes, food, tools and electronics. We also went for a drive in our development to adjust the new Prodigy 2 RV brake controller for correct electrical power to the electric over hydraulic brake pump.

Sep 19, 2010 - Zip-A-De-D0-Dah
9/19 Zip-A-De-Do-Da We enjoyed our 3-night stay at the Sequoyah State Park and the side trip to the Cherokee Cultural Center but this morning we were rarin’ to get on with our trip. Eastern Oklahoma was surprisingly hilly and very green; they call this Green Country and I can see why-it is very beautiful. The only part of the state I had seen before was the western side, which was pretty much like the West-all shades of brown. It was around 11am when we crossed over into Arkansas and a strange feeling came over me-I felt like I was in my...
