May 3, 2013 - Mouseville (Kissimmee)

We left Bay Pines for another 6 months of travel/fun and stopped for a few days in Kissimmee to get our dash a/c fixed. We took advantage of family visiting in the area to spend some time with them. We enjoyed decompressing (as if I ever get compressed) and catching up with my sister (Becky), brother (John [Bubba])& his wife (Kathey). Next up is Charlotte, NC.

Apr 11, 2013 - Kissimmee and St Cloud

We went to historic Kissimmee yesterday...pretty much a bust. They are trying, but they don't have much to work with. Lucky for us, while there someone told us to go to St cloud for a late lunch. Much cooler town, and a great restaurant right on the lake. On the way home from the restaurant we were driving through town when we decided to stop and explore. Saw some nice shops and met some nice people. Ended the day back at the clubhouse. Unfortunately, yesterday's waitress was replaced by a lady who was not as interested in her job. Had a...

Apr 10, 2013 - Some Guys Are Sooooo Cool

So, yesterday we split the teams. Connie and Pat off together, John and Pathfinder off together. Plan was to do whatever, then meet at the clubhouse for food and drinks at 5. So the ladies went out and got pedicures and nailicures (or whatever they are called) and went to nice stores and stuff like that. The guys had a more solid plan. First, back to Walgreens to return the magnifying glass. Then on to Camper's World to see if there was a deal to be made on a new GPS. Then on to check out flea markets and pawn shops. While cruising down the...

Apr 9, 2013 - Kissimmee FL

Today was the kind of day that reminds you to be thankful for what you have every day. Thankful for the opportunity to do what we have been able to do the last 3 years, thankful for the friends and family that we have, and thankful that we don’t have stroller aged kids to schlep around Disney all day. Saw lots of beaten and abused parents out there today. Steve and Laura picked us up around 10:00 and we headed off to Cracker Barrel to do a little carb-loading for our big day at the Magic Kingdom. After a short drive and a little tram and...

Apr 9, 2013 - Celebration

Celebration is a town built in the mid nineties just south of Orlando. I don't know who built it. It might have been some guy from Poland who gained all of his knowledge of America from watching "Leave It To Beaver". Nobody lives there...not really. They rent for a week while they are at Disney, or they live and work somewhere else and own a home here that they come and visit. I'm thinking the average owner owns a couple of gas stations in Fargo, ND, and lives above one of them. He always wanted to live with "The Beav". All year long he...

Apr 8, 2013 - Kissimmee FL

We got up around 8:00 and I took off to wash the Jeep and hit Camping World for a couple of RV parts. I got back and did some minor repairs while MB went to the gym. About 10:30 we heard that Steve and Laura had made it up from Hollywood and were hitting Subway to pick up lunch and coming here to eat before we headed for EPCOT. About 11:30 they were all done eating and we were off for the short drive to the park. So far, so good. This week happens to be the EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival which, as the name implies, involves a lot of...

Apr 8, 2013 - Kissimmee/Orlando, FL

4/8/13, Monday DISNEY WORLD HERE WE COME!!! We headed for Kissimmee, just the Tampa side of Orlando, to the Sherwood Forest RV Resort which is about 6 miles from Disney World. On the way, we stopped in Plant City to look at Uncle Al's (Susan's Uncle) former mobilehome sales lot. It has now been developed into an asphalt lot with an Auto Zone store on it. We went down the road about a mile to Parkesdale Farms which is Florida's largest Fresh Strawberry Market. (This whole area is well known for its farm markets, particularly strawberries and...

Apr 8, 2013 - Mystic Dunes

Arrived at Mystic Dunes Resort and Golf Club around 4PM yesterday. It's about 144 miles from home. We will be here with Connie and John until Friday. We were all too tired to go out to eat last night, so we put together a little soup, scotch and wine buffet in our suite. Today we'll stock up and also visit Celebration. This was a tough place to find....thank goodness Pathfinder was on the wheel. The resort wasn't too hard to find, but there was a small issue as we searched for the clubhouse.... Pathfinder: I think we turn right here Pat: I...

Apr 7, 2013 - Kissimmee FL

We left the campground at about 8:30 and headed to the hotel that the other out-of-towners were staying at and got to see most all of them before they hit the road for home. We gabbed for a little while with the stragglers, had a mediocre – but free – breakfast and then headed back to my grandfather’s to say goodbye, then it was back to Highlands Hammock to pack up and head north. We left HH at about 12:30 and wheeled into our home for the next 3 nights in Kissimmee just about 2 hours later. We could have made the trip 74 mile trip in about...

Mar 14, 2013 - Old Town

Our last full day so we took a stroll through Old Town for a last look. It is very quiet during a week day so it was easy to get a clear look at the fossilised wood outside the rock shop and also the old fashioned shop fronts. After a quiet time at the pool we went out to Celebration the neighbouring Disney designed town for a lovely meal then back for a night time dip in the spa, complete with coloured lights.

Mar 13, 2013 - In the swim

Because the weather had been unseasonably cold when we arrived at first the unheated pool had been very cold. Will decided today that at last it was plenty warm enough to swim in. Alison was not o sure so stayed out. Otherwise a very relaxing second to last full day at the resort.
