Mar 12, 2013 - Rain and Rockets
We had decided to go to the Kennedy Space Centre today mainly to see the IMAX films which we did not have time to see last October. It turned out to be good planning as the rain arrived today. Still warm but rainy. We saw two IMAX films the first about the Hubble Space Telescope was, as the Americans would say, "simply awesome". The 3D pictures from the teams reparing it and the real pictures from it were absolutely stunning. The second film was about the Space Station. Though it was good it did not have the wow factor of the first film....

You can't visit the Port Canaveral area without going to the Kennedy Space Center. We spent two days perusing, touring, enjoying this fabulous monument to the space program of the United States, which by the way, is NOT OVER, as many think. Daily activities are moving toward continued space exploration, by NASA and private enterprise. We visited this center about 20 years ago ... many additions have been made and it has become a premiere destination for visitors from around the world. You go to Florida??? ... don't miss it ... it is an...

Nov 14, 2012 - Kennedy Space Center, Florida
On November 14 we drove directly east of Orlando to Kennedy Space Visitors Center. We spent the day viewing I-Max films and displays of the United States efforts in space. The 3D films of the activities on the space station were especially interesting. These films were taken by the astronauts during their activities while living and working outside and inside the station. We took a bus tour out to one of the largest buildings in the world, the Vehicle Assembly Building, where the space shuttles were assembled and readied for launch. The...

Nov 13, 2012 - Day 121 - Kennedy Space Center
We headed out this morning to explore the Kennedy Space Center. On our way there we tried to find a Verizon Store to pay up for the next month for our Jet-pack and our phone. Garry has been trying to do it online but runs into trouble because it will not accept a Canadian address. The Help desk tried by putting in their head office address for our address but could not take a payment from our credit card as the address on the card was not the same as on the account so suggested that we go to an office to pay there. We found a Verizon Store...

#28 5/9/2012 We started out pretty slow today. We were both still dragging from all the walking yesterday. I guess it was meant to be because as we were leaving for the day, I got a call from the florist on base. She passed us as we were going out, she was at the trailer with a delivery. So, we turned around and went back. Apparently, my "daughter" Dawn coordinated with my husband, she sent me flowers and a Mother's Day and Birthday card. She is the sweetest kid! I paid her back by calling her this morning at 6:30 her time, but as I...

Sep 1, 2011 - Outerspace in Orlando
On Thursday, September 1 we arrived at the Thousand Trails Orlando Preserve. Yep…we’ve been here before. All the other times it was during “high” season, so the park was packed, but this visit hardly anyone was here, and we had our choice of 50 amp sites. But boy was it hot and humid! There is a boatload of things to do here (can you say Disney World), but we knew we’d be spending our time fixing the brakes on the rig and that was about it…it was just too dang hot to do much of anything else. It was typical Florida weather – hot, humid, and...

Jul 8, 2011 - STS-135
We were very pleasantly surprised to find no traffic at all. As we arrived the parking lot was getting very full as a trail of vehicles followed us in. There was such a sense of excitement as we took our things out of the trunk of the vehicles. Two young men from Sheffield, England we spoke with about the launch. We gathered our things and went and stood in line to get onto our bus. WHAT A NIGHTMARE! People were pushing, and completely out of control. Some people were yelling "we are not going to make it"! Complete drama queens! At this...

Dec 22, 2010 - A Road Well Traveled...
It appears that it has been a month since my last entry. The holiday season is here and we have been passing through places we have toured and written about previously. We spent the Thanksgiving holiday in Stone Mountain, Georgia visiting with my sister Carol (and family) and my 89- year-old father, Ray. Afterward, we headed to Florida for scheduled RV repairs, visiting more family and just hanging out until we were due at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground (Walt Disney World) where we are spending Christmas and New Years. Our Disney...

The Kennedy Space Center tour is $86.72 for two adults. The tickets are good for 2 days to be used within a 7 day period. Always wishing things were a little cheaper, we thoroughly enjoyed this place and needed the second day to see it all. There was half a dozen different building with exhibits. Two IMAX movies: One all about the Hubble and the other about the building of the international space station. Fantastic films. We got to see replicas of numerous rockets from early days of exploration to the present which included a replica of a...

I went to the Kennedy Space Center and did the tour of the favility. I saw the the Apollo Launch Contgrol Center and the International Space Station Exibit. We couldn't go to the Shuttle Launch pad because of the scheduled launch tomorrow. I found a great place to watch the launch. Winnie and I are directly across the bay from the launch site parked in the Dogs 'R Us, hot dog and wing joint, parking lot that's closed for Easter. The place is like a mimi-RV resort. There are people from all over the US and Canada parked here to watch the...

Apr 4, 2009 - Kennedy Space Center
Visited Kennedy Space Center which we haven't seen in 20 years and boy has it changed. It took two days to see it all, from the Rocket garden to the new Shuttle Launch Experience. It's a great ride that really let you feel like you are blasting into space, noise, G force (not as great) and the great views out the windows. Just like being in a simulator. We also saw a 3-D IMAX movie on the construction of the Space Center. With the 3-D effect you felt like you were right on the station with the astronauts. These two days have been very...

Jul 11, 2008 - Kennedy Space Center
Today was the day to go the Kennedy Space Center. This is the main reason for our stop in Titusville, and it was certainly well worth it. We had heard that it was more than you could do in a day, but we really didn't believe it. Well, guess what, it IS more than you can do in one day. Especially true for us, as we have about a 6-7 hour window that is as long as we can leave the dogs. We'll go back either tomorrow or Sunday, for sure. We didn't get there until mid-day, so we ate lunch first, then hopped on board the bus tour, which takes a...
