Dec 17, 2011 - They're here!!!!!

Tommy and Lorene arrived about 12:30pm today. Gosh, we sure are glad to see them again. Seems like a month or more since we've seen them...LOL... Let the fun begin!!!!! The weather today was almost perfect again. 77 degrees and partly cloudy. I'm telling you, it can't get much better. The four of us went to the park Christmas party tonight. What a hoot. There were 119 people there. We were told to each bring a wrapped $1.00 gift and a wrapped $5.00 gift. The $5.00 gifts were placed on a large table in the middle of the room for a later...

Dec 13, 2011 - OUCH!!!!! just kidding

Our day started with a quick breakfast and a short walk....to the rec hall. A local elementary school sent 50 of their students to our park for a Christmas concert at 10:00 this morning. It was awesome!!! The kids all played recorders and sang and some of them played some pretty exotic drums. Everyone really enjoyed it and even gave the kids a standing ovation when it was over. This afternoon we went shopping for dirty Santa gifts for the Christmas party this Saturday night and then it was time for the big OUCH. We went to Walgreen's for...

Dec 12, 2011 - Fresh strawberries in December...

Sunday we got up a little earlier than usual and had a small breakfast before church. The weather was so nice we walked up to the rec hall here in the park for service at 9:30am. The service was very nice. The people here are so friendly. They welcomed us as new residents and made us feel right at home. The sermon was on "Joy" since the 3rd advent candle represents joy. We both really enjoyed it and plan on attending again next Sunday. After church we came home and changed clothes and went to lunch at Sonny's BBQ. The parking lot was full...

Dec 10, 2011 - A beautiful day in Florida

Today the weather was just about perfect. It was 67 degrees outside when we got up about 8:15 this morning. We opened all the windows and just enjoyed the fresh air. After breakfast, Jackie was outside when two sand cranes flew by honking and like to have scared him to death. They make the strangest noise I have ever heard. It was pretty funny after it was over. Later we went for a drive and when we returned the cranes were lounging where we park with no desire to move. I got out of the car to try to herd them out of the way. DUH....you...

Dec 9, 2011 - We made it!!!!

We are now on our site in Haines City for the next 4 months. It is nice and warm here too. We arrived at 12:15pm and it was 78 degrees with sunshine. Sooooo nice!!!! The park is nice too. The park models are mixed in with the rv's and the sites are neat and well cared for. We have a park model next to us on the west and Tommy and Lorene will be on the other side when they get here next weekend. I will try to get some pictures tomorrow. Walmart is about 3 minutes away, and there are shopping centers galore within 15 minutes of us, yet it is...

Mar 15, 2011 - Overnight stop near Haines City

I'm worried that we have been a little spoiled by the Keys. As we drive north on Route 27 through the center of Florida, the sky seems less clear; there is an increasing number of white clouds drifting by; the lakes lack the the brilliant blue; the breezes are not as refreshing. But then again, it's so nice to still be warm in mid-March. We enjoyed a spectacular view of orange orchards that stretched for miles and open-top trucks with oranges nearly cresting over the edges. What kept them from bouncing out on the road??? I had a great...

I went over to Haines City , florida for a three day Bluegrass Festival. We did some dry camping and my refrigerator was not working, so I had to put everything in a ice chest. After a few hours ,I found that I had blown the fuse by the battery box by the hitch. Replace the fuse and now WHAT !!!! Not working !!! The battery is dead, I got a 2000 watt generator. After a hour I got battery power to light off the refrigerator and recharge the battery for lights and radio. I do need a check off list that is for sure. had a great time!!!!
