Feb 25, 2014 - 2 games and a Grand Slam!!!!

Okay folks, I have to do some bragging tonight. This blog is usually about Jackie and I and our life as full-time RV'rs.....But tonight it's about my oldest granddaughter. Cendyl is a senior in college this year. She has been playing softball since she was 7 years old. She has been a pitcher since the beginning. Her first year was slow pitch, but she had problems putting an arch on the ball. She wanted to throw it hard and straight. As luck would have it, Jackie did some phone work for a man that gave pitching lessons to girls her age that...

Feb 24, 2014 - Lots more to do.....

So much yet to get finished and time is running short until we leave for Branson. The weather is just about perfect.....I've been waiting for that all winter. Sunday was another wonderful church service. Pastor Thomas is asking for prayers for his wife, Debbie. She has had a rough couple of years. Lung cancer, chemo treatments after removal of one lung, auto-immune disease and kidney failure, pneumonia, and now she has shingles. I can only think of Job from the Bible when I think of all she has suffered. Please say a prayer for her and our...

Feb 22, 2014 - Another fun day

Another beautiful day here in Florida. Jackie slept in this morning since it came a pretty good rain just before daylight. But he did get his walk in before we went out to lunch. I slept in also, but later than Jackie.....aren't you surprised to hear that??? I was ready to go by the time he showered and dressed. We all met at Tommy & Lorene's to see who was riding with who on our half hour trip to Cherry Pocket for lunch. I've probably told you before that it is an old fish camp right on the edge of Lake Pierce. They have turned it into...

Feb 21, 2014 - Yes folks, I'm still around

The weather has been just beautiful so we have been out and about and I've just been so busy that I've neglected to post an entry. We have been catching up with Tommy & Lorene as it seemed like months since we have seen them....three to be exact..... Carl & Alice arrived from Oklahoma on the 6th, so we have been busy with them also. We had our Treasure Lake get-together on the 7th. I'll add pictures tomorrow so check back to see them. We had a really good turnout this year. I have been busy crocheting like a mad woman. I finished my red and...

Feb 5, 2014 - Global Warming????

I know it's been over a week since I last posted, but to tell the truth, I've just been watching TV, (mainly the weather channel), reading, (just finished a really good mystery), and crocheting on the new afghan on a stick (it is going to be beautiful). The last days of January were not pleasant where the weather is concerned. I know back home it is just unbearable. I've never seen so long a stretch of bitter cold and snow and ice as they have had in Branson and Arkansas. I am just so thankful to be down here where cold is still at freezing...

Jan 27, 2014 - Another nice day

Another early wake-up for me. This time it was rain falling on the roof at 7:45am. Jackie wasn't in the house, so I knew he was out walking....in the rain. I waited for the phone to ring asking me to come and pick him up. But he came walking in about 10 minutes later and he was dripping. The temperature was 62 degrees so he wasn't frozen, but he sure was wet. He changed into dry clothes and we watched it rain. Of course there was no shuffling this morning. When the rain stopped about 11:00 he left to finish his usual 8+ miles. I walked...

Jan 26, 2014 - A Glorious Sunday

We have had one of those days when you just can't stop smiling. We set the alarm for 8:00am this morning. It went off right on time and first thing I noticed was the heat pump wasn't running. I grabbed my phone and looked at the temperature and it was 59 degrees......YAY!!!!! We haven't seen that in quite a while. Our first reason to smile today. We were picking up Chuck & Sheila for church at 10:00 so we hurried and had a quick bite of breakfast and made the bed and got ready for the day. We arrived at church and the parking lot was almost...

Jan 25, 2014 - warm today.....

Yesterday was a jammie day for me so there was nothing very important to write about. I did 4 loads of laundry and Jackie dried them for me. We ran the vacuum cleaner and made the bed too. He went for his usual walk but this time he was using the new app on his phone that tells him how far he walks and how many calories he burned doing it. It is the neatest thing ever and he loves it. He walked 6.2 miles and burned over 800 calories. Today I had to set the alarm so I would get up in time for breakfast. You see today was the annual Canadian...

Jan 23, 2014 - I did it.....

Good grief....It was 34 degrees this morning!!!!! Sorry Carl and Alice, I don't know what to do. It's only 6 days until you head this way and the only hope I can give you is that the day you are to arrive here, the temperature is supposed to be in the 70's.... My alarm went off at 7:00am this morning and I would have given almost anything to turn over and snuggle down under the covers for another couple of hours. But I knew I had a lot of work to do to get 40 people fed at 11:30. I hit the floor and got busy. I had everything ready to...

Jan 22, 2014 - BRRRRRR...

It's so cold that even the northeners are complaining now. It was 39 degrees this morning and the high today was only 53 degrees. I didn't want to crawl out of my nice warm bed this morning. I knew it was cold outside because the front heat pump ran all night and was still running at 8:30am. But I reluctantly got up and started my day. After breakfast I started cooking the meat for the liquid tacos that we are serving tomorrow for lunch. I don't have a skillet big enough to cook 5 pounds of ground beef at one time, so I used my electric...

Jan 21, 2014 - more winter...

Yesterday wasn't so bad as far as the weather goes. The low was 52 and the high was 67. I could learn to live with that. Jackie got his walk in and shuffled too. I did 3 loads of laundry and crocheted. I walked over to the rec hall at 1:00 for our regular Monday crafts time, but the hall was full of Canadians. I failed to notice on the schedule that they were having a meeting regarding Snowbird policies and insurance. So I turned around and came home. The meeting lasted over an hour and there were people from other parks in the area that...

Jan 19, 2014 - Spring, where are you??

I'm looking for my usual Florida winter. Where are you and when are you coming back? Yesterday was a jammie day with the fireplace on all day for me. Jackie walked later than usual, but he was wrapped up like he was in North Dakota with his warm-ups and hoodie on. We watched the Razorbacks play and several other games. When we went to bed last night it was 39 degrees.....again!!!! This morning it was 33 degrees and Jackie had to get ice off the windshield. It did get up to 68 degrees this afternoon, but that was the normal low temperatre...
