Mar 21, 2017 - March 20th

This is the best day weather wise we've had in a while. Sally walked for her usual hour and I walked to the beach and back, About a mile and a half. While walking we both noticed a large plume of black smoke. We both wondered what it was.We wanted groceries so around noon we headed to the Publix store. We were detoured because of the fire we saw earlier. Apparently a 3 story apartment house had burned down. Coming home we were detoured again because of the fire. this was3-4 hours after we saw the smoke. We then went to the village of...

Mar 21, 2017 - March 19th

Today started as usual, Sally walked for an hour and I walked for a mile or so. One of our neighbors is the Editor of National Astronomy Magazine. He was looking at the sun this afternoon and invited us over for a view. The equipment Was really good equipment and had a special filter to look at the sun. Hopefully we will look at some other things before the week is over. In the evening we had a nice fire before supper and our wine and chocolate.

Mar 19, 2017 - March 18th

Nice warm day. Sally walked for an hour and I walked to the fishing bridge and back to the motor home to start the day. After lounging around for several hours we left for a flea market that I thought was 30 miles away. After driving for an hour and a half and still 20 miles away we turned around and started back. We found another flea market and went there. When we were through we started back and stopped at a Golden Corral. After filling up we then stopped at a WalMart to get a lancing device so I can check my blood sugar. Then we were...

Florida 2017

Mar 19, 2017 - March 17th

Sally walked 50 minutes and I walked 1.6 miles. Sally also had a cell phone talk with her sister Jean and I checked out the beach access to fishing. It doesn't look good. In the early afternoon we biked to "Bad Ass" coffee shop for WIFI access. It is only a i.5 mile round trip. We did try fishing in the Gulf in thge afternoon but even though I had my waders on I was unable to cast far enough to get to good looking water. Of courser we didn't catch anything. We had a fire in the evening. Then supper and I had my usual medicinal amounts of...

Florida 2017

Mar 17, 2017 - March 16th

Today we moved to the Grayton Beach Campground. First I noted that I only had one of my prescriptions with enough pills to last until Sunday. Since we were close to a walMart we decided to have it filled there. We did have to wait several hours before it was filled, then we were off. Sally did her usual expert job of driving and we had the camp set up about 4 o'clock. I then tried to fish the lagoon about 1/2 mile from camp. Of course I didn't catch anything. We're on a cement pad for the campsite. Kinda nice but we do feel exposed. There...

Florida 2017

Mar 30, 2015 - March 27th

Today we didn't do a whole lot. We did drive into Panama City and went to a fishing store. It was a very nice store with about anything you would want for saltwater fishing. Afterward we went to a laundry mat located near by. Then to top off the trip we went to Camping World, there they didn't know about the product we wanted. In the evening we sat by the fire and drank some wine. We did prepare for the travel day tomorrow before going to into the RV for the night.

Mar 30, 2015 - March 28th

Today was a travel day. It was about 75 miles but we got Fooled by the GPS's both the one on my telephone and the dashboard mounted one we use for most of our navigation. But Sally remembered enough landmarks to get us there. After arrival we sat up camp and walked the campground looking for Munzees. We did find quite a few. We also walked to the beach. This beach is not nearly as pretty as the ones we've been at recently. Then we sat by a campfire till dark. There are many planes in the air. The Naval air base is located nearby.

Mar 26, 2015 - March 25th

Today began at quarter to 6 in the morning. I woke up, had a few swallows of coffee and headed to the beach to do a little fishing while Sally remained in bed as she usually does in the early morning. I intended to cast jigs. The surf was a little high for me and I quit after 30 minutes or so. I did cast a few times in the brackish water pond on the way back into the camp.. I was back at camp by 7:15 or so. Then we got out the bicycles and took a ride. The first part of our ride was terrible as the bike path was narrow in spots and it was...

Mar 26, 2015 - March 26th

Today began with us going fishing. It looked like it was going to rain in the early afternoon. When we got to the beach we were surprised to find 20 or so people swimming and setting on the beach. It was cloudy and temps were in the mid 60s and there was a brisk wind. Sally and I were dressed much warmer than those people. The surf was somewhat rough. We decided to fish anyway. That was a mistake for me. A wave knocked me over about 15 minutes after we started. My boots partially filled with water. and my clothes were mostly wet, so we quit...

Mar 25, 2015 - March 24th

Today began with a 15 mile bike ride. The bike path is nice but somewhat restricted when it goes over bridges. It is also very busy. Most folks follow courteous procedures but some think the path was put there for them alone. I do get aggravated with these folks. Many of the really good riders bike on the road. I don't have the confidence or nerve to do that. We soaked up sun for a couple of hours then went and sat on the beach with our fishing poles. We got a little more sun but we haven't had a strike in 4-5 days. In the evening we once...

Today was a travel day. It is about 95 miles to our next campground. On our way we were caught in an hour and a half traffic jam in Panama City. It was quite trying. We were both relieved when it was over. We arrived at Grayton Beach mid afternoon. We setup camp and had a fire to end the day.

May 12, 2012 - Grayton Beach State Park

On Saturday, we drove from Chattanooga, TN to Grayton Beach State Park, where we will stay until we move into the Highlands House on Monday. When we arrived, we had a spot in the back (older) part of the park, which had a VERY narrow lane that was difficult to maneuver. Jim had a lot of trouble getting the camper in the spot, and on Sunday we decided to move to the front circle of the park, which is newer and much nicer than the back. That day, we celebrated Mother's Day with a breakfast with Betty and Kevin at The Doughnut Hole (a Destin...
