May 2, 2007 - Memories from 55 years ago --

One lesson learned -- a lot can change in ten years (duh!). Drove along the Daytona Beach shoreline yesterday searching for a pier with a restaurant so we could pick up a t-shirt for Jeremy. No pier. No restaurant. Hurricanes can most surely change the landscape. Sorry, Jeremy . . . we tried! On the other hand, we were very glad for the detour. Decided to drive the rest of the way up to St Augustine along the shoreline rather than hop onto the freeway. What a gorgeous drive! That is, it's gorgeous in between all the new condo construction....

Dec 16, 2006 - Visiting St. Augustine

Both Hope & Naomi are out of school for the holidays so we took a day trip to St. Augustine,the oldest city in the US. We decided to ride the trolley tour and boy was that worth it. The trolley goes all around the city with a narrated tour and makes 20 stops that you can get off and back on. The trolleys run every 15 minutes so we made several stops including a wonderful lunch at Harry's-New Orleans style, the Castillo De San Marco fort, great old churches, a wonderful chocolate factory,St. Augustine bay and a great winery where Hope & I...
