May 17, 2014 - Fort Myers and Ding Darling

Good evening everyone! Sorry for the delay in updating the trip journal, but we had some delays that kept me from opening the laptop. The autotrain left on time on Thursday at 4:00, but we were stopped right after leaving the station and had to return for a repair to the back of train red warning light. We ended up getting started out of the station again around 6:00 pm, finally with A/C and power again. (It had to be shut off while we were waiting to return to hookup at the station, and the temperatures were in the upper 70's and very...

May 15, 2014 - Departed USA

May 15th Wow, we're off to good start, after picking up Judy and Irma I notice the hatch back is totally open as we are driving down the road. Thankful no luggage was lost. LOL Not only that, as we got almost to the airport Judy remembered she didn't shut her garage door! It's great she lives in gated community because security went and shut it for her, yeah, Thank you Stephanie for putting up with us and especially taking us all to the airport. Checking in United Air was a breeze and everyone so nice. Now the girls complaining we got...

May 15, 2014 - Depart Fort Myers

Today is the first day of our travels starting the day with picking up Irma at 8am at Alma's house and taking her to my house for Stephanie, Susan and Julie to pick us up to go to the airport. Noticing it is a little breezy in the van we noticed that the back van door was not closed. Lucky for us we no luggage was lost!! Half way to the airport I remembered that I had not closed my garage door. Not wanting to go back I called the gate and they went to my house and closed the door. Good thing I live in a gated community! Arriving at the...

May 6, 2014 - Ft. Meyers

Leaving Tampa I cross over the Howard Frankland bridge to St Petersburg then over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge with a stop on both ends to take a few pictures. On the south side drove on part of the old bridge which is on a fishing pier, then head down the coast to Fort Meyers area spending the night on Pine Island at a KOA campsite.

Apr 6, 2014 - Alligator alley

Friday we drove back towards Miami and did a oil and lube job on our M-B Sprinter-Roadtrek. It was a costly business because I did not know it takes 13 liters of synthetic oil, oh well the service book says it does not need to be done for the next 10,000 miles (16,000 km). After this stop we started to drive across Florida towards the Western coast and drove most of the day through the Everglades. The Everglades are a natural region of tropical wetlands in South Florida comprising the southern half of a large watershed. It was a very...

Mar 23, 2014 - What To Do On A Sunday Afternoon

One of our parts of geocaching is being lead to places we wouldn't ordinarily visit. We wanted to hit a few caches in the Fort Myers area around the water front. This is a few of the pictures that Norma took of the people and area of the water front. The tall building is the "TOWER OF TERROR" this pink behemoth was once a working hotel. While in high school we used to sneak like most of the class of Ft. Myers High to the top to see the view with our friends , and on prom night what fun. Sadly now it is abandoned with strict no trespassing...

Mar 4, 2014 - Le WE à Ft Myers

Mar 3, 2014 - LEE COUNTY FAIR

Each year we go to Fort Myers for the annual LEE COUNTY FAIR to get our annual gold fish for our fish tank. We could go to the pet shop and buy all the gold fish we want, but we get to play like kids and toss a pin pong ball in to the fish bowl. Of course we spend alot more money for a lot less fish. That's the fun of it !!!!! We were looking at the 4-H stuff when we got to meet Norma's brother and his wife looking at the school stuff and see who would win the red or blue ribbon for that picture or the big sun flower that they got to grow...

Mar 1, 2014 - Sanibel
