Feb 29, 2008 - Florida City
Florida City is a "close to" city - close to Miami, close to The Keys, close to The Everglades. We found a city rv park with trees and grass located right between Hwy 1 and the bus highway. Hundreds of rv's are parked here - some like us on the move and some will never move again. We drove through miles and muiles of landscape nurseries getting here - lots of palm trees and pretty shrubs. This is also the garden basket for Florida with lots of veggies and fruit grown in this area. If you look at a map of Florida, you will see lots of...

Feb 29, 2008 - Gators, Gators, Gators....Everywhere
From Uncle Wally's, in Florida City, Florida, just south of Homestead, which is just south of Miami. This morning, after a farewell from the campground that seemed more like leaving a family reunion than breaking camp, we traveled south down US Hwy 17 to connect onto I-75 north of Ft. Myers, then further south on I-75 to the point that it hooks left to go eastward across Florida towards Miami on what is commonly called Alligator Alley. We exited I-75 at that point for several reasons, including that we traveled AA several years ago without...

Jan 20, 2008 - Day 13 - Florida City
By far the worst room of the trip; cigarette holes in the comforter, parts of the bathroom vent fan were in the bathtub and no carafe for the coffee maker - I kept telling my self it was just for the night. Got on the road at 10AM looking for the beach. Got a few pics of the water but weather was not great so I didn't go down to the beach itself. On the way out of town I just happened to pass by the Daytona Motor Speedway and got a few shots of that (the thing is enormous). The best days weather I've had in about 2 weeks and made great time...

Aug 29, 2007 - Gateway to the Keys
I made it all the way to Florida City which is called the Gateway to the Keys. After the 95 ended and it became highway 1, the traffic really began to crawl. I had hoped to get to Key West but the traffic wasn't going to allow that. I once again gave in and got a hotel. It was pretty good but the thing I'll remember most was the restaurant out front. I got a bowl of clam chowder which wasn't bad but the best bit was the slice of Key Lime Pie. I figured I was in the keys so it made sense to try it. My taste buds are so glad I did. It was...

May 1, 2007 - A Day in The Life of The RV SuperStars
How y'all are? Yep, we're still in the South. Anyway, awhile ago I was in an especially good mood, sitting outside the gleaming PeeWee2, at the glassy Florida Bay's very edge, in Grassy Key, City of Marathon, Florida, enjoying a cloudless sunset, reading "It's Easier Than You Think; The Buddhist Way to Happiness" by Sylvia Boorstein and wondering what the unenlightened were doing. I idly wondered if "they" (you) weren't doing what we were doing because they (again, you) didn't really understand what we're doing; you know, living the RV...
