May 7, 2016 - The Finish Of A 92 Mile Quest :-)

In late February we finally completed walking the Withlacoochie Bike Trail! We now have our favorite parts we would return to again & again. The last portion we walked had a side trail past an old quarry. It would be a beautiful walk any time of the year. This trail has a lot to offer bike riders and walkers and we recommend it to anyone visiting central Florida! Since we generally walk one direction for 1/2 hour and then turn around & retrace our steps back to the truck, we have actually walked the 46 mile trail twice so to speak. So after...

Nov 21, 2014 - WALK IN THE PARK

Since we our camping we can enter the main springs for free with our pass and since we had paddle up from the campground we used the kayak ramp to park our kayak. This was a private park back in the early 60's like most of the other private fun parks had went out when Disney World came in. Now Silver Springs , WEEKI WACHEE SPRINGS AND RAINBOW SPRINGS have become florida State Parks. We got to see the man made water falls in the parks and do some geocaching in the park also. Since the weather has caused us not to be able to kayak all the...

Nov 21, 2014 - Rainbow Springs State Park

We started this trip as a kayaking and camping trip to some state parks in Florida that has nice spring water to float down in our kayak. We have been to two different state parks for kayaking and the weather has been down to 24 degrees just before sun rise and that is to cold for us to be on the water. During the cold period we have been out geocaching in the area and not kayaking. Today has been the first day that the weather has been warm and no rain, it is in the low 80's and the sun came out for today. We got out the kayak and paddle...

Aug 20, 2014 - LET'S GET WET

We like to get close to home for the last camp site , so we dont have to drive very fay on the last day of driving home. We also like to cool off during the hot summer days in Florida. So we like to camp at rainbow springs state park, we don't have a reservation for the park. It should not be any problem getting into the campground, it is in the middle of the week and the kids are in school. Just don't come here on the weekend, but if you got reservation for a campsite then that would be O.K.. We shall stay here for a few days of caching...

WHAT'S NEW IN 2014

Jun 2, 2013 - life is too short not to...

Only two weeks away and we will be leaving with our kids (pets) ♥ we are really excited about this journey we are about to take! I will never understand why so many people are afraid of change and want to stick to their routine. Making a big life change is scary indeed. But you know what's even scarier? Regret. Sometimes we have to risk something. You might lose, but you can gain even something better. If you don't try, you'll never find out. So don't fear change. Don't fear anything. Fear is just an illusion. If you believe in fear, you...

Jan 17, 2013 - Rainbow Springs State Park - Dunnellon, FL 2012

Three of us are down with the flu. John nearly got pneumonia, but with some rest and the magic of medicine we all got over it. It did cramp our style for doing all the kayaking we wanted to do on the beautiful Rainbow Springs River. This is a wonderful place. I wish we could have stayed longer. We will next time. The water is unbelievable clear. The springs change the color of some of the rock and the super white sand has a magical effect that turns water into beautiful greens and blues. Words just do not do it justice. Rainbow Springs...

Jan 11, 2013 - Ivy Place Rehab

It's noon and my body is destroyed! I decided to tackle the carpet in the lanai. Even in my younger days the one thing I don't do well is cut carpet with a carpet knife. Fast forward to my old age now and it was just brutal on my body! AND they used a billion carpet tacks to keep it down across the whole floor. I can barely move now and suspect I will be down for a day or two recuperating from this. BUT....this is the biggest 'physical' effort project that had to be done on the house. So, it's done and out of the way and I can now open the...

We made the drive to Dunnellon , Florida near Rainbow Springs State Park. We shall be here for a few days to visit the park and to do some geocaching in the area. Norma and I like to walk trails in Florida and we have joined the Florida Trailwalker program which takes us to all the Florida State Forest. It is nice to be able to walk a trail in the woods, to see the leaves and to be able to get out to see nature. At the trailhead of each trail you hike , you can obtain one pre-paid postal survey card for that trail. Fill it in and put in the...

Nov 12, 2012 - The Eat, Drink, Sleep, Repeat Tour

Hello everyone! First of all, let us apologize for the lack of attention to our journal. For the last few days we have been more interested in doing the above! Savannah was beautiful and is a grand old, old city. It is pretty sleepy, however, but Gail and Susie got a noise complaint in their room on the morning we left. The nerve!! Gail was mortified! We have included some pics of the city and our bus tour with Miss Angel who was quite the entertainer (see picture). We enjoyed the dining over Amurika...and have tried to sample as many...

Nov 5, 2012 - DAY OF REST

Good morning, all! We arrived here yesterday afternoon around 2:00 and after greeting Linda and my Murphy, we headed over to The Blue Gator which is an outside bar right on the Withlacoochee River in town here. Murphy is allowed to go to the bar and they give him a nice bowl of water when he does! We all had a couple of drinks and then came home, exhausted, and devoured some delicious homemade spaghetti that Linda had prepared for us. I was in bed by 7:30 and Moe, Tracy and Gail were not too long afterward. It is wonderful not to have to...
