Apr 11, 2013 - Park Activities

It is getting near to the day when we will leave on our next meander through the U.S. and Canada. While we have been here Sue has participated in a variety of activities including exercise, dance, and water exercise. There have been several eating activities that I joined in. Today we had a nice pot luck dinner with about 40 fellow campers at a campsite near the lake at the east end of the park.

Mar 17, 2013 - Another Race

I had another run this weekend. This time Sue joined me. We ran the Florida Beach Halfathon and 5K respectively. The race is run at Fort Desoto County Park south of St. Pete Beach. The half marathon covers all of the island and is run mostly on bike paths. There were about 800 runners and we were pretty spread out my the time we reached the finish. I finished 6th (and last) in my age group but, as I crossed the finish line, was happy to arrive in time to see Sue get her medal for finishing 1st in her age group in the 5K. Annie was with us...

Feb 25, 2013 - Dunedin RV Resort

This morning Glenna and I moved north from Bradenton to Dunedin. We decided to do the western route, which included the Sunshine Skyway Bridge that spans Tampa Bay. It was a beautiful drive, considering it included the 4.1 mile bridge, and Glenna would rather avoid bridges. Glenna took many pictures, and I’ve uploaded a few. This afternoon we booked in at Dunedin RV Resort. We have stayed at this park before, and find it to be a perfect location to stay if we are taking in a Blue Jay game. We didn’t get to the ball park until about a half...

Feb 14, 2013 - Valentines Day

Another holiday - another dance! As has been established, I can't dance. Fortunately, that doesn't keep Sue from dancing up a storm. Valentines Day was no exception. While I went to a hockey game with Tony Webb, Sue danced the night away at Dunedin RV Resort. Among the activities were line dancing (as taught by instructor, Beth Root) and the opportunity to dance with a handsome strawman! A good time was had by all!

Jan 3, 2013 - New Years Week

It's been a busy week in Dunedin! Sue and I had separate New Year's activities. Dunedin RV Park held its annual party and Sue enjoyed the evening. Jeff and Cindy stopped by the next day and the three of them had lunch and a walk at Clearwater Beach. Meanwhile, I drove north on New Year's Eve arriving in Chattanooga on New Year's Morning for the Southern Scuffle. The Scuffle is a college wrestling tournament that this year included three of the top four teams in the nation including Penn State led by champions David Taylor, Ed Ruth, and...

Dec 8, 2012 - Honeymoon Beach

Dunedin RV Resort is about 3.5 miles from Honeymoon Beach State Park. The park has a couple of miles of beach and one section of beach is a doggie beach. Sue and Arnie visited often in past years. Jeff came by with his friend Cindy and the five of us headed to Honeymoon. It turned out that Annie likes to swim. She doesn't like waves but she happily enters calm water to a point over her head and swims happily along. We will likely have many visits to Honeymoon during our stay.

Nov 29, 2012 - There's a New Girl in Town!!!

We are pleased to announce the arrival of Annie!!!! Annie is approximately three years old and appears to be a Wheatable (Wheaton Terrier Mix). She is a little girl weighing only slightly more than thirty pounds. Annie is not a replacement for Arnie, but is going to write her own chapter in our fulltiming saga. She is affectionate and a bit of a cuddler. She has a lot of energy and enjoys traveling. We are happy to welcome her and expect that she will be an integral part of oour adventures going forward.

Tuesday off to Dunedin just 56 miles along the coast now parked up and only 2 miles from the beach, there is also The Pineallas Trail here it is 40 miles long running from St Petersburg to Tarpon Springs you can bike/walk or skateboard on it, so the bikes will get some use here. The drive here was okay except for driving on the Skyway Bridge when we reached the top it was awful looking down into all that water then Wal says the barriers on the side are not very high of course when he is driving he is not on the edge where I can see down. Jul 28, 2011 - We are out of here!

Sue saw Dr. Apte on Tuesday and he suggested that she visit him again in a month. We reacted negatively. He agreed to talk with the radiology doctor about when she felt that Sue would be ready for radiation. Today we talked with Dr. Apte's nurse and jointly agreed that Sue would see both doctors in three months. So, we are packing up and getting out of here tomorrow!

Jul 15, 2011 - Well -------------- Crap!

The plan was to have radiation therapy on June 14, 18, and 21 and get out of town shortly thereafter. What's that saying about, "the best laid plans ..." Two nights before the scheduled first treatment we headed into Tampa for some entertainment. We stopped at Bahama Breeze for a nice dinner and then headed to the Stras Theater for a performance of the touring company of "Mama Mia". It was a terrific show! Despite having passed two inspections the previous week, when Sue underwent a pre-radiation simulation, they found a tear in the vaginal...

Jul 5, 2011 - Last Chemo and a Parade

We have purchased a beach umbrella and chairs in our continuing battle with the heat. We have been visiting the beaches on Honeymoon Island. One of the beaches is a doggie beach that allows Arnie to join us although on a leash. Once we have driven 40 miles to Fort Desoto State Park and enjoyed their unleashed doggie beach. On the entertainment front we went to the Friday matinee performance of Cirque du Soleil's "Alegria" on the 24th. They do a great job. But our best day was on Tuesday when Sue completed her FINAL round of chemotherapy....
