Apr 17, 2013 - New Front Tires

We have rapped up our stay in Florida. We had a last visit to Clearwater Beach and grouper at the Paradise Pavilion. Then we packed up and prepared for Annie’s first trip in the See Ya. It was goodbyes to the folks at Dunedin today. Things were interrupted by having to call the EMTs to help our friend Rick this morning who, it turns out, had a reoccurrence of pneumonia. He is resting comfortably in the hospital. We left at about 11:00 a.m. and drove across town to the Lazy Days Camping World to have to new tires put on the front of the See...

Apr 25, 2012 - Two Parks in one day

Since we didn't need to be out of our campsite until one o'clock we took advantage of the nice breezy morning and early afternoon to do some bike sightseeing. We rode about 4 miles to the main area of the Myakka River State Park where we hopped an air boat to tour the lake and wildlife. Believe it or not, this air boat had a auto engine with mufflers and it was very quiet. We saw our first feral pigs along with more alligators and a wide variety of birds. It was a very nice hour. On our way back to the campground to pack up we took a hike...

Apr 18, 2012 - We Begin Another Years Adventure

We are about to hitch up and move the homestead north for the summer. We leave Monday for Savanna where we will meet up with Bob and Linda Dow for a couple of days. The Dows are part of the Odetah gang who we worked with in Connecticut and who we ended last year with, on a cruise. We have gotten together as a group several times to eat and drink. Just some of the really great friends we have made along our adventures. We have hung out at Tampa East since the first of Nov. and I don’t know where the time has gone, although we are suffering...

Oct 19, 2011 - Hibernation

After seeing the bear in Carrablle I have had bears on my mind. So I suppose it's appropriate that I now have named our winter site the den. We're going in to hibernation for the winter. No traveling until April. Just waiting for warm weather to return so we can go off on another adventure. Today we arrived at the den and are ready to take a long winter's nap....

Apr 6, 2011 - Bushnell, FL to Ocala, FL

The new button we learned about a couple of days ago, to boost the charge on the batteries , came in handy today -- the generator would not start but the magic button made it start! Something is just not right with the battery but I’m hoping it just needs a long period of charging. We also had another problem that I hope is related to the weak battery problem - the refrigerator would not switch over from electric to propane but it did switch over later in the day so maybe the battery just needed a little charge. Today’s travel was very...

Apr 5, 2011 - Bushnell, FL

The morning started out beautiful with perfect temperatures and a gentle breeze. It didn’t take long for everything to change. By 8am the winds were gusting enough to make everyone in the park scramble to put away lawn chairs, secure loose items, and roll up the awnings. The storm blew through with a roar. The worst of the wind only lasted about an hour. When the rain subsided around noon, the weather was good enough to venture outside. There’s an excellent Mexican restaurant in town, Coyote Rojo, and we had a great lunch. After lunch we...

Apr 4, 2011 - Dover, FL to Bushnell, FL

We pulled out of Citrus Hills RV Park around 10am. I stopped in the office to pay our electric bill and Ron left with the motor home to get propane. Then we went to Ring Power Corp to have the oil and filters changed on the engine and generator. It took about 2 hours for them to complete the work. Ron pulled the motor home out of the shop bay and I moved the Jeep to the back of the motor home to hook it up. It was after 2pm and very hot so we wanted to start the generator to run the air conditioner. The generator would not start! Ron pulled...

Mar 30, 2011 - Interesting Wednesday

Today we went separate ways. Shirley took off for Clearwater to lunch with a former cytotech co worker. I on the other hand went to the dentist. Evidently sometime Tuesday I cracked a crown. Not badly but they say I need a new one. We are going thru Atlanta in early May so I am going to see how it goes. No pain and it appears just to be a small hole. We no longer have dental insurance BUT since I was referred by my nephew Tim they took $50 off the bill and it only cost me $50. Not bad. Then we waited for our grand niece Payton's varsity...

Mar 29, 2011 - Tuesday afternoon

Relaxing morning did some house chores for a couple of hours. Shirley laundry and me wash the camper and truck, they needed it. In the afternoon we went to Tim and Lisa's house (our nephew and niece). When Payton came home from Varsity fast pitch softball practice the 5 of us got a pizza and came back to the camper to show off a little. Marcus met us at the campground after his Varsity baseball game was finished. We all went out for ice cream. A nice afternoon and evening. Going to Payton's game tomorrow. Enjoy the pics.

Mar 28, 2011 - Rainy days and Mondays

Woke this morning after a big rain Sunday night. Broke camp and went 7.5 miles to see Susan Huddleson (who is a real Saint). Susan was in our wedding almost 38 years ago. We went to a great place for brunch and reminisced. It was a VERY nice time. We left Susan's house and took a drive to Clearwater Beach which is really nice and a place we might want to vacation. We then drove over the causeway to our camp tonight in Dover Fl(5 miles from our nephew and niece's) Tim and Lisa's house who we are visiting tomorrow. It has rained and rained...

Mar 24, 2011 - Time for adventure

DOVER, FL Forecast High 82 Low 61 We plan to pull out of this park on April 4th. It feels like we have so much to do in such a short time but I know it will all get done and we'll be on our way. When we first arrived at this RV park I wasn't exactly thrilled but I was wrong. This place has been great and we expect to return next fall. We've met quite a few very nice people and the park has really been very quiet. The first few days were the exception, not the rule...our location has been very quiet and pleasant for the past couple of...

Feb 23, 2011 - Winternationals-Nesmith & Street Stock Practice

Today was a new experience -- we have never gone to a dirt track "practice". It's free to sit in the grandstands and watch. We enjoyed ourselves and to our surprise we witnessed a couple of accidents and very badly damaged cars...and it's just practice!
