Jan 26, 2008 - Destin, FL

The drive to Destin was smooth and Camping on the Gulf was easy to find. We settled in and napped until dinner. I was fighting something off and could not stay awake. Luckily, I felt much better the next day. I ran errands all afternoon: Target, Walgreens, groceries, and I got the tire on the Subaru fixed. Apparently, I picked up a nail driving towing it down to Miami. It's had a slow leak ever since. I'm glad I had it checked. They did not charge me for it. Destin has a lot of shopping and restaurants, mostly along 98. The beaches here...

Full Timing from CA

Jan 18, 2008 - Just a Lazy Day

Hi Everyone, Not much to talk about, kind of a laid back, do nothing day. Jack did get the Harley going, and went for a ride. We started taking down, and packing up for the trip to Ocala tomorrow morning. The weather has been a little disappointing...chilly & wet. Althought I have to say it was pretty mild today. I'm sure you don't want to hear my sad stories about the 45 degree temperatures. This is the Panhandle, and we still are as far north as you can get in Florida. As we head south I'm sure the temperature will rise, I'm getting very...

Jan 16, 2008 - Rain,Rain Go Away On- - Lorraine's B-Day

Good Evening Everyone, Not a lot to write about today. It's been raining, and very cool 43 degrees. All the sight seeing, and activities we hoped to do had to be put on hold for now until the weather clears. We drove to Destin this afternoon, and did what your typical snowbirds do on a rainy day, we shopped. This evening we were the guests of Clovis & Henrietta Proulx (Jack's Aunt & Uncle at their home for dinner. Desert of course was.. (you guessed it) birthday cake. Later that evening Steve, and the girls called on the webcam, and that...

Jan 11, 2008 - Finally on the road again

On January 2nd we finally got moving again, we left Havasu after a fantastic Christmas and New Years. All of the kids and grand kids were out it plus a house full of friends. Without a doubt one off our best Christmas's ever. Right after New Years the weather turned cold and we started our trip to Florida. It took us eight days to get here with stops in Las Cruces NM, Houston TX, Lake Charles LA, Biloxi MS, for sight seeing and doing tourist stuff. Its been a great trip and we have dodged all of the bad weather. Yesterday we arrived in...

Nov 7, 2007 - junkyard artist

It is COLD! Wow. Tough to get going this morning - I'm sure it was in the low 40's. Fortunately, the KOA served a free continental breakfast, so we could sit in the warm gameroom. We left Monticello and headed in to Tallahassee (the outskirts, actually) to find a folk artisit - Mary Proctor. We found her place but she wasn't there. Dave called her and arranged for her to meet us there in an hour. We wandered off to find some lunch - found a great bbq place in a typical ugly strip mall. When we got back to Mary's gallery/studio, she was...

Oct 13, 2007 - Destin Florida

We arrived in Destin FL this afternoon. Another beautiful day with temp at about 82. There is a lot of people here with kids. I guess because it is the weekend, a lot of people came to enjoy the beach. Don't blame them. Bonita and I only had one thing on our minds for when we got here, and that was to go eat at Captain Kidd's seafood buffet. This place overlooks the dock where all the fishing boats come in. They have an outstanding buffet and the main item that Bonita was interested in was fried oysters and she ate a bunch of them. I went...

Sep 9, 2007 - A sunny day in FLA....We arrive in Destin~

We stopped last night just outside of Biloxi...Today we just had a leisurely 3 hour ride into Destin. Interstate 10 ran us in and out of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama... We turned onto route 98 in Pensacola, following the coastal road into Destin and our home for the next 4 days...Camping on the Gulf RV Park. And we are camping on the beach..All eight wheels are sitting on white sugar sand and our looking out the windshield we see nothing but ocean... Forty five minutes of scrubbing 'love bugs' off the window and we were ready to hit...

May 24, 2007 - DESTIN, FLORIDA

Hello Everyone, Well, we're back on the road again... at least temporarily. We're in Destin, Florida which is located about 30 miles east of Pensacola, FL.,on the Gulf Coast. For those of you who don't know, Destin is a very popular beach resort. I never heard of it until Erik first mentioned that he and Julie were going to be married there. Of course, Sandra and I are not 'beach' people. However, we can see that it is a very nice place for those who like that sort of thing and we can see that it would be fun for them. You know the...

Summer 2007

Jan 15, 2007 - We moved to Henderson Beach State Park (Destin, Florida)

We made the BIG move to Destin (all of 49 miles) along highway 98. When we hit the town of Destin, we saw nothing but miles and miles and miles of outlet malls! Hum, we could spend days just walking around and looking at all the stores. We have NEVER seen so many. One of the biggest and first stores we spotted was Rich and Michelle's favorite store, Bass Pro Shops. We have to admit, we put the store on our "to visit" list - Michelle, send us a "wish list" and money - we'd love to spend your money and shop for ya!! That's it from here for...
