Dec 23, 2013 - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Another week passed and not much exciting happening here, hot and humid. We discovered that our lovely shady site has one drawback, no-seems. These little critters bite and I do not think that there is anything that repels them. However, we are not the only ones that suffers here, no-seems are not discriminating and are biting everyone. Pete went fishing few times but did not catch anything. There are dolphins in the Banana river and we have been trying to take pictures of them but so far unsuccessfully. Dogs made some friends, specially...

Our trips

Dec 15, 2013 - Patrick AFB, Fl

15 December 2013. We settled in a comfortable site that we like so much that we rejected offer for a full hookup site for a month. Decorated coach with Christmas lights and some decorations to remind us that it is December and Christmas Time. Weather was great all week, sometimes too hot for my liking but it beat the cold weather up north. This morning we woke up to a cloudy sky and now is raining hard at the time. It will be a long day if it does not stop raining soon. This morning after Church we stopped for breakfast at Friendly’s. We...

Our trips

Dec 10, 2013 - Settling in

Well we have settled in at Patrick AFB, FamCamp, Fl. Waking up in the morning to 75 degree weather will take a bit to get used to. Today we washed the motor home and Jeep as well as visited the commissary to stock up on food. Now all that is left is relaxation on the lawn chair. The campground is about 40% full and more renovations are being made. It seems that every year we come they are under renovation but there are signs of slow progress. Looking forward to going out to dinner and celebrate Grace’s Birthday!

Our trips

Dec 9, 2013 - Housekeeping

First thing this morning run to the engine service shop. We were glad that there was nothing wrong with the coach, after spending $57 we learned that our turbo engine does not like to be running on the same speed! Afternoon we spend unpacking. Our friends from Long Island made it here today, we met some of the campers that stayed here last year too.

Our trips

Dec 8, 2013 - FamCamp, Patrick AFB, FL

We arrived this afternoon. Unpacked some of the stuff but did not settle since we need to make a run to the shop to check these engine codes . It was 85F when we arrived, too hot too quickly Pepper (our old English springer spaniel) did not like it. Went to sleep early.

Our trips

Nov 7, 2013 - To Coca Beach, FL for three days

After a restless night, we were up and underway by 0645. Fred had already checked the oil and made a fix on the tachometer. Unfortunately the fix on the tachometer reverted to not working almost immediately. It is good that we have enough time on the boat to be able to estimate engine rpm’s by engine sound and boat speed. We got under the bridge at New Smyrna without a problem and then motored all of the way to Cocoa. We had no problems at any of the bridges, probably because we are more willing to push through at 64 feet. It was a warm...

Apr 22, 2013 - Cocoa Beach, FL

4/22/13, Monday Robin was still ill Saturday and Sunday, so we went to the Doctor today and found out she was in the early stage of bronchitis. So, she received two prescriptions which we filled. By the time we got to the Kennedy Space Center, the campground office was closed so we went to Patrick Air Force Base. They have a wonderful RV Park which is right on the Banana River with the ocean on the other side of the base. Our space was about 15 feet from the water. We could hear the waves lapping the beach and there was a full moon (almost)...

2013 USA Trip

Jan 28, 2013 - Cocoa Beach

We had such a good time on the cruise, we needed a few days to rest ... LOL. We stayed at Patrick AFB, where Bob once served for a short time during his early years as an AF Reserve Chaplain. Nice digs, as usual on bases. Spent some time on the beach at the base and at Cocoa Beach. Ocean views are extraordinary. Thought about going surfing ... thought about it again ... then had another Bahama Mamma!!

Winter 2013

Oct 20, 2012 - One Step Closer to Cruising!

Today, our plan was just to get to Florida. We had to get up at the ungodly hour of 4:00 a.m. to fly from Windsor to Orlando. The weather was perfect for flying all day and everything has gone seamlessly so far. The temperature in Cape Canaveral today is 27C and breezy! Not too hard to take! Our hotel, The Residence Inn Marriott in Cape Canaveral is very nice. We were upgraded to a larger two bedroom suite so we could each have our own bed if we wanted to. LOL! Going to dinner tonight at a nice seafood restaurant recommended on Trip...

Jul 22, 2012 - Cocoa Beach - Family Vacay

We pulled out of the campground Thursday, July 3, a little after noon. Traveling in Ralph's new truck, we enjoyed the ride down I-40 to I-26. We broke our journey in Columbia, meeting Rusty, Ralph's brother, for supper at Lizard's Thicket. Not long after that break, we merged onto I-95. Fortunately our journey to Grand Island was uneventful. We pulled in about 11:30pm and went straight to bed! Friday we collected what we needed for the beach - including the boat! It was nice to be in a house again. Our wonderful neighbors, Frank & Sharon,...

We are so lucky to have a couple of great friends who enjoy spending time with us intrepid travelers on our wanderings. John and Cathy are a blast! Long ago in a past life, I spent a bit of time in Florida on business and had the opportunity to see Epcot and Universal Studios but that was many moons ago, and vowed to return some day. Cathy long desired to visit Florida and the Magic Kingdom, and this was her big chance. They flew to Florida and stayed with us in the motor home while we explored eastern Florida; Orlando, West Palm Beach,...
