Dec 4, 2010 - Our week at Disney World
We arrived Monday, Nov. 29th at Thousand Trails RV Park in Clermont, FL. This is the largest park I think I've seen to date. It boasts 850+ sites. The park is maintained pretty good. There is a very large recreation building with all sorts of services and activities. It appears to be a very active park. There is a large playground, tennis courts, fishing pond, It is located about 15 miles from Disney World. Tuesday morning, we had some business to take care of, so we started our Disney adventure about Noon! First stop was to find Disney...

Nov 29, 2009 - Clermont, Florida
Another long drive, but not as long yesterday. Warm enough today for shorts and tee shirts. Ran into traffic coming into Orlando area, but otherwise made good progress. Nice campsite where we have parked under the trees. Other people staying here are very friendly and there are a lot of Canadians from Ontario and Quebec here. Saw lots of palm trees today to convince us that we really aren't in Chicago. Very tight roads and turns in this facility barley made into site We stayed here 2 nights just to catch up and get ourselves organized,...

Nov 13, 2009 - Clermont, Florida
Bee's RV Resort in Clermont, FL, is the campground where we'll be at for the next week - November 13th to 19th, inclusive. Nothing but sun & relaxation on the menu! Monday, November the 16th.... We were absolutely awestruck & amazed to witness the space shuttle Atlantis, having been launched, enroute to deliver critical equipment to stock the International Space Station. It was manned by Bobby Satcher & 5 other astronauts. It was like watching a brilliant silver star streaking across a gorgeous sunny sky, leaving in its wake a long trailing...

Nov 13, 2009 - Bee's RV Resort
Bee's RV Resort.. near Clermont FL. We are spending a week at this park in Central Florida. Everyone appears to be in good spirits.. The start of the "snowbird" winter destinations. The little restaurant in the park cooks a mean chicken dinner for very reasonable price. No cooking tonight! We have been following the "Hunters" travel blog since they too departed from Holiday Park in Kelowna the end of April 09. We briefly crossed paths in Savannah GA. and would be looking forward to meeting them again in Florida before they fly to Mexico...

After my big day at Epcot, I spent the rest of the week searching for letterboxes, bike riding, and seeing small towns, parks, and lakes. I met a geocacher looking for the same box that I had just found - it was a combination letterbox and geocache. She grew up in this area but lived in California for 35 years. She missed this area so moved back when she retired. She said it pretty good when she said this was like Old Florida and the South. There are lots of little lakes, gentle rolling hills, big live oaks, palms, and pines with quaint...

Nov 9, 2009 - TT Orlando, Fl
Hurricane Ida got me out of the Florida panhandle a day early and into the TT Orlando park Got settled into a nice 50 amp spot and neighbors invited me for dinner which was great. Sue and Ken are from Connecticut and Kate and Bob from Indiana orginally. Both couples have been full timing for years. Woke up one morning to the balloons out the front window. Great biking park...best of all the ones I have been in. All roads are nicely paved and most pads are paved with patios. Have a few sandspurs and alligators in the lakes. Palmetto and...

Nov 9, 2009 - Thousand Trails RV Park - Orlando, FL
Monday, November 9, 2009 Today is traveling day again. We will be about 25 miles southwest of Orlando at a Thousand Trails park. That will be our home for the next two weeks. We followed the coast down as far as the New Smyrna Beach area. The ocean was really boiling and the palms were swaying in the wind. The weather reports are expecting Hurricane Ida to make land sometime tomorrow in the Pensacola area. We will probably see some rain and strong breezes but not anything to be concerned about. Wednesday, Novemeber 18, 2009 Joe and I are...

Nov 3, 2009 - Lake Louisa State Park
Mary told me about this park - I can hear and maybe see the fireworks of Disneyworld from here each night. I am here for only a couple of nights, though. I will be spending a week at an RV resort in a different part of Clermont, further away from Disneyworld. The campground is between Dixie Lake and Hammond Lake! I drove to the end of the road of the park which has a big parking lot for a picnic area and the map shows that here is where Lake Louisa is. I went for a walk on the Nature Trail but, even taking a side trail to "Cheryl's Lookout"...

Mar 19, 2009 - Discovery shuttle launch
Hi Friends, I can't beleive it's been almost a month since I updated this journal. The Eastern Caribbean cruise was wonderful. We were fortunate to have perfect weather. We did two snorkel trips, one in Antigua and one in Nassau, Bahamas. The one in Antigua was quite an adventure. We took a bus from the port to a "resort" area where we were loaded on to 2 boats. First of all, the "resort" left a lot to the imagination as it looked like it had been under construction for several years. The cement on the walls was cracked and there was no...
