May 2, 2013 - Looking forward to going out west

We are in a Thousand Trails park in Clermont, FL which is close to Orlando. We are just getting everything ready for traveling this summer out to the west coast again. We had a wonderful winter in FL. Stayed down in the FL Keys for a while, met up with friends Carol & Pat in Wachula for a while, and stayed with other friends, Carolyn & John up in High Springs for a month. This winter we have been busy paring down our belongings in our storage areas. Still have 2 storage areas but at least got rid of one. We traded in our Jeep and got a...

Apr 22, 2013 - Clermont, FL "Orlando Area"

Finally, we have made it back to Clermont. This park has been fully booked all winter. I wanted to come back here and get some line dancing in. I did get in a week of dancing before our instructor left Last year we saw a pair of Sandhill Cranes with their tiny chick in this park and this year the year old chick is still with his parents. It is always a pleasure to see the wildlife in the parks and the gopher tortoises are quite numerous here. Ralph found a preserve about twenty five miles from us so of course we had to check it out for its...

Apr 3, 2013 - TTN Orlando near Clermont, FL (again)

Once again we find ourselves at this wonderful Thousand Trails membership preserve near Orlando. We'll be here till the 17th. We'll be paying attention to maintainence of the coach for this stay. That and resting and relaxing. We like the forested area "D", so have chosen spot 150. Hopefully, there won't be any brushfires nearby like last time we were here. Please note that according to our numbering system, this is our 285th stop in the 6 yrs and 4 months on the road. Sometime this summer we'll pass through number 300. Watch for it, we'll...

Apr 2, 2013 - Carriage Rally- Clermont, Fl.

Yesterday we drove from Juno north to Clermont, about a three hour drive up the Florida Turnpike. We are staying at the Thousand Trail - Orlando Resort. It is a large (over 500 sites) campground here in Central Florida. It has large paved sites, although dry and sandy, with more bugs flying around then we have seen on this trip. It is fairly open, which means good satellite TV, but wifi is poor. Luckily I have Glenna’s new Google phone, which is providing a wifi hotspot for us. There are about 65 rigs at this rally, and 6 of them are from...

Feb 27, 2013 - TTN Orlando near Clermont, FL

We picked a great day to travel the 189 miles from Englewood to Clermont. Our stay here is going to be two weeks. We understand this park is very active with many things going on at the same time to keep one busy. We like this Preserve. Rebecca found the Sunday Arts and Crafts sale to be perfect for selling her beaded “twirliers”. And sell she did! Rebecca sold 10 during the three hour craftsale and had several later sales. Rebecca set up the display in the back of the pick-up and sold several. During the week, Dave found a wood-carvers...

Dec 14, 2012 - Last day at Lake Magic

Lake Magic RV Resort Can’t believe this is our last day here. We have crammed a lot of fun into these last few days though. Wednesday, Joni, our neighbor in VA Beach, took us to EPCOT for the day. We had a very good lunch in Germany and we all ate way too much! We went to Epcot to see the Candlelight Procession which was spectacular. It has Disney cast members in the choir that forms a Christmas tree in the middle and then on each side is a choir from the outside and ours looked like it was a high school. Jodi Benson did the reading of the...

Dec 11, 2012 - Fun Days

Lake Magic RV Resort I can't believe we're in our last week here. Time really goes by fast when you're having fun. I was under the weather for a couple of days last week, but we used that time to do laundry and grocery shopping. We went back to SeaWorld to catch some of the Christmas shows we missed. The Shamu Christmas Show wasn't as good as the regular show, but the ice show was spectacular. We didn't think it would be very good but the skaters were very professional and the production was beautiful. There were even fireworks after the...

Dec 4, 2012 - Winter Garden

Monday was biking with the Palm Tree Bikers from the campground. We drove to Winter Garden which was about a 30 min. drive and rode on the Orange Blossom Trail which was a rail line. We had ridden it two years ago with Joni, but parked at the ranger station off of Rt. 50 and rode to Winter Garden. This time we started in Winter Garden and rode to the station and back to Winter Garden. We wanted to eat and not have to ride amymore! It was a beautiful day for a ride and we had a nice lunch at an Italian restaurant. The town is very quaint and...

Dec 1, 2012 - Skyfall and Sea World

Bill wanted to see the new Bond movie, Skyfall. I haven't been interested in Bond movies since Sean Connery. Anyway, I said I would go with him and talked him into going to the IMAX theater to see it. Although Daniel Craig is no Sean Connery, the movie was awesome and we both enjoyed it. Yesterday we went to Sea World. Originally we planned on spending a couple of hours but ended up staying about 6. The park wasn't very crowded so we were able to do a lot. I got to ride my favorite roller coaster, the Manta. Bill had already ridden the...

Nov 28, 2012 - Visit to a friend in Ft. Wilderness

We went back to Ft. Wilderness today to visit a friend, Holly Hodge, from VA Beach. She and her daughter are staying in Ft. Wilderness and are lonely since her husband and in-laws left last weekend. We took our bikes and rode around the campground. We stopped to see the stables. They were giving a horse a bath and clipping the mane and ears of another one who didn't like them messing with his ears! We saw one getting new shoes too. They take very good care of the horses there! We rode through the campsites and were amazed at all the...

Nov 26, 2012 - Van Fleet Trail

It was a beautiful day today and perfect for our Monday morning bike ride. Last Mon. we had to wear sweatshirts but today everyone was just in a t-shirt. We drove about 30 min. to a rails to trails and rode through a swamp. We were supposed to see turtles, birds, alligators and maybe an armidillo. But what did I see? A snake! I stopped to take a picture and Bill asked me why I was taking a picture of that small snake when the ones at home were 3 or 4 times bigger. I just hadn't seen a FL snake before! After the ride we all went to the Ale...

Nov 24, 2012 - Old Town and Celebration

Another fun day today. We met Sandy and Ronnie Rice, our friends from Richmond, at the Ale House for lunch. We had eatten at one in West Palm Beach when Patrick was an intern there 13 years ago and loved it. We weren't disappointed today. After lunch we went to Old Town and looked at the old cars first. I posted a few pictures of the ones I found interesting. One even floated and you can see the propellors on the back. He said it had been in the water today. This is the first time we had been to Old Town and found it quite fascinating. More...
