Mar 24, 2013 - Still in Florida!
We're Still Here Since it's been over a month I thought I would just write a few lines to let anyone who cares know that we are still alive and kicking. That really should read vegetating, if I wanted to be totally accurate. We've been kind of meandering north out of Florida and haven't yet made it all the way. Another week or 2 should do the trick. We are parked at the Ho Hum RV Park in Carrabelle, Florida, right on the Gulf Coast just after it swings west. The park sounds better than the reality has proven. It is right on the Gulf, but...

Mar 11, 2013 - Off to the Panhandle
We headed off to Carrabelle, Florida on the panhandle near Apalachicola. We'll be at Carrabelle Beach RV Resort fot the next 2 weeks for some work. We took US90, US27, and US98 to avoid I10. It looks like this route is the correctional institution route based on the number we saw along the way. There must have been 6 or 8. We stopped in Perry, FL to do some grocery shopping at Walmart. After shopping we decided to catch a quick lunch at Sonic and then we were on the road again. About 25 miles from Perry, Sue got a phone call from her bank...

Jan 3, 2013 - Ho-Hum RV Park
The morning of Jan 3rd we left Lake City FL and headed to Carabelle, FL to stay four nights at Ho-Hum RV Park. This park is located right on the coast and we were promised a campsite fronting on the beach and looking out over the Gulf of Mexico. We were not disapointed, our campsite was great. While we were here we toured the area. One day we drove to Alligator Point which is a strip of land jutting out into the Gulf with numerous homes and resorts. We discovered that this area was devistated by Hurricane Katrena and most of the homes are...

Apr 14, 2012 - Ho Hum RV Resort, Carrabelle, FL
4-14-12 to 5-5-12, Carrabelle, FL We arrived at HO HUM RV resort, 5 miles east of Carrabelle, FL Saturday to stay for one week. After being here for a few days we decided to extend to three weeks. We have a camp site on our favorite beach with our RV pulled into a spot facing the Gulf--about 50 feet from the water. It was 81 and wind was about 10-15 from the south when we arrived, just enough to keep us warm but pleasantly comfortable. The weather here has been great, day temperatures from the upper 70’s to 80’s with light to moderate...

Apr 11, 2012 - Ho Hum RV Park
We drove only 75 miles to Ho Hum RV park, a very nice small RV park right on the Gulf, though we weren't in a water view site, we were only 250 feet from the gulf, we walked on the beach with Houston and met a lot of nice people and really are thinking about coming back for a longer stay. What a great time. We found a wonderful restaurant right on the river, Fish Camp Restaurant, the food was excellent (oysters on half shell, grouper, catfish and hush puppies). It was so good we ate there twice. We drove to a small town called Sochoppy, it...

Jan 17, 2012 - Carrabelle, FL
Sunset Isle RV & Marina in Carrabelle is a new park so does not have the amenities available that they advertised, but a beautiful spot with views of the New River, Gulf and St.Georges Island. St. Georges is famous because the Sports Illustrated Swim suit edition was recently shot there. The reason for our visit to St. Georges island was to see the lighthouse, but also enjoyed the white sandy beaches, sea shells and beautiful summer houses. Crooked River Lighthouse has been moved to the present site and restored, it was built in 1895 and...

Jan 16, 2012 - in Carrabelle FL; 15/132
120116-Mon-Today we started out at 58049 miles. We ended at 58154, for a total today of 105 miles. We got the tire fixed and then went for a ride to make sure it held air. We got a new valve stem and they resealed the bead on both sides. It now seems to hold air OK. We also got propane and had lunch at The Hut in Eastpoint FL. It was good and we will have a light dinner. We also got envelopes and Shirley mailed the Grandview Arts Council sales taxes in. It was a warm sunny day with a high of about 70 degrees. We sat by the Gulf. Much warmer...

120115-Sun-We started at 57777 miles, and ended at 58049, for total miles today of 272 miles. We are on the gulf coast of FL and it was about 65 today. Now, at 5:40pm it is 57 out. We had to air up the RF tire three times today. I need to get it fixed tomorrow, but we made it. I think it is a bad valve stem. It has been sunny all day and now we are on the water. It’s a nice park. We also need propane, which we will get tomorrow. Thats the one thing they don’t have at this park. We have full hookups and cable and wi-fi.

Jan 4, 2012 - Carrabelle, Florida
We took a side trip along the Florida Scenic Highway, which runs close to the Gulf Coast along the northwestern part of Florida. The photograph is the view from our campsite at Carrabelle, Florida. The weather had turned very cold---it was in the 20's that night (so no walking on the beach for us!). We had to keep the water running in both faucets in the trailer. But the scenery, as you can see, was gorgeous! Interestingly, the towns along this section of the Gulf Coast are having problems with black bears. To the north of these towns, in a...

Nov 20, 2011 - Few more days while in Carrabelle
Bald Point State Park – where we walked along the beach for several miles saw Pelicans, Oyster Catchers & other sea birds. Lots of large crabs scuttling along the beach. It was a very foggy day but still warm. Thursday went to Tate’s Hell State Forest took a very short walk along the boardwalk there. It was a 4.5 mile drive down a very bumpy dirt road, lovely views across the Dwarf Cypress trees but not a lot else to see, not even a snake. The story of Tate’s Hell- Abandon Hope a story we read in a travel guide If you are into...
