Oct 31, 2020 - travel day

I kind of like not having to hurry in the morning to get ready to leave - gives a chance for the day to warm up a bit, too. After getting gas, I only had a 3 hour drive, so I stopped in a favorite rest area just south of Gainesville to have lunch and walk the snake walk to see the Paynes Prairie State Park. Once I got to my site, I had an audience watch me drive into it and remark that I did very well - hardly have to adjust the rig (front tire was touching the cement pad). I like seeing people, but not having them see every move I make! I...

Feb 18, 2020 - Halfway Through February

Halfway through February already. One again time is flying by. The weather has been a little crazy, even by Florida standards. We're running the air conditioner one and and have the heat on the next night. We're out in the country here, but it's only 20 to 40 minutes to get to just about any place we'd want to go. An hour's drive would take us to Disney or Tampa. We've run to the flea market in Webster, up to The Villages, Lady Lake, Inverness, and Brooksville. We're mostly just enjoying the peace and quite. Ellen is, of course, drooling...

Winter 2019-2020

Feb 1, 2020 - Bushnell, FL

Well time is flying by. Our month at Pleasant Lakes has come and gone. It's cool, damp and raining this Saturday morning. Happily the traffic is fairly light heading North in I-75. I think I've seen the most RV's I've ever seen in one day, all on the road today. It seems like an endless stream in both directions. I guess everyone wants to get where they are going before the Superbowl. So a slow ride in the rain and in 3 hours we're 100 miles North in Bushnell, FL. We'll be staying for the month in Red Oaks RV Resort. We've stayed here...

North to Alaska 2019

Oct 19, 2019 - Bushnell, FL

Today was rainy, we went for breakfast and left around 10:30 for the RV. We had BLT’s for lunch and went to the 3pm attitude adjustment. We went to dinner (pot luck) and played games until 9pm. We then watched the Yankee’s play baseball. Nothing for pictures....

Oct 20, 2018 - relaxing trip

I left Walmart about 8 AM with half a bottle of Pepsi for my caffeine and some Belvita bites to munch on for a breakfast. Three hours later, I stopped for gas and ate lunch at Dennys - a patty melt and fries. I stopped again at my favorite rest area on 75 because it has a walkway to view a prairie. I couldn't stay because it is still quite warm and the mosquitoes love it! I did grab a letterbox there, though. I got to the campground mid-afternoon and took awhile to set up because it isn't level. The front tires are still off the ground, but...

Mar 17, 2018 - Distilleries, Wineries and Breweries and some History too

Another long one, if you want to just look at the pictures here's the synopsis: some cold weather (even frost), baseball, beach with friends, St Augustine FL, Savannah GA, history, distilleries, breweries and wineries, more golf and activities at the park, finally getting warm again. Otherwise, read on and enjoy! Our wonderful and different winter in Florida, and our time in Paradise, is slowly coming to an end. In one week we will head out and start our way back home. The weather back home is still snow and freezing, and just so those back...

Feb 20, 2018 - Another Day In Paradise

Getting used to being in Florida could take a while. The weather here has been up and down... some mornings we have the heater on and then in the evening, the air conditioning kicks in. Some days you wake up to fog and then it burns off by mid morning... and it's boat drinks by the pool...we look at the weather that our families are having back home we realize how privileged we are to be spending this time south for the winter. Since our Key West trip, life has been pretty boring....we have filled our days playing a little pickle ball,...

Jan 13, 2018 - Begining of Winter

As we look at the calendar, we see that we’ve been here almost two weeks already. Now many of you reading this I know will understand how we feel… We’ve been here 2 weeks and still haven’t had a chance to go for a swim… it’s been just terribly cold down south. We even had a couple of nights with frost… it’s just awful. The first day back we packed up and took the bus to get new front tires (the old ones were over 10 years old and starting to crack and buckle, definitely time) and filled up on propane… knowing that the weather was going to...

Jan 2, 2018 - Back in Paradise :-)

Just a quick note today to say we are safely parked at the bus in Florida. It was another long day of driving with lots of traffic (we’re certainly not the only snowbirds heading south!) and Mike was again getting frustrated with slow drivers in the fast lane! While we talked about the traffic and accidents yesterday, we didn’t mention some of the beautiful scenery. As we passed the tip of Lake Ontario, the trees were covered with huge dollops of snow, from the lake effect snow dumps they had last week. This morning, heading into the...

Jan 1, 2018 - It's Winter

It's a new year and like we say to each other every year, this past year has been the best, and it has. When we were last speaking to you all we were planning on our trip home for the holidays. Well we knew our twin grand daughters were due within the next few weeks so it was time to pack up our bus and start heading home, better safe than sorry. Mike winterized the bus (he put antifreeze in all the water lines), we put away all our lawn stuff and pulled in our slides, only leaving the fridge plugged in. We were ready, so we jumped in the...

Dec 21, 2017 - Update from Bushnell Fl

Good morning to our trip journal followers. It would appear that our writing is a bit behind. Anyone who is retired or not might understand how days turn into weeks and time flies without even realizing it. So we have a little catching up to share all that has transpired in the last three or so weeks. Our visit to Orange City was a wonderful time spent with Jack & Loretta. From there we packed up, loaded the toad (car) on, which we are starting to get the hang of, and headed out. Next stop proved to be a bit of a disappointment due to our...
