Jun 14, 2016 - McKethan Lake

McKethan Lake Park is about 10 miles south of us. We drove by at 60 miles an hour several times and never had a chance to stop & read the small sign in front, so we didn't realize there was a lake here. Finally we took a scouting trip for new places to walk, and turned in at the entrance gate. There is a nice loop hiking trail here that's 1.9 miles around and a paved road that can be driven or walked that's about 1 mile. We drove the paved trail and soon came to the lake. It reminds us of an Alpine Lake, because it's surrounded with pines...

Feb 27, 2016 - TIME TO GO HOME

We had a great time at the bluegrass show and running around the area for Geocaching. Things happen while on trips. I was glad that the water pump and raiditor went out when it did and not on the road. Some times "SH?? happens , but this time things turned out O.K. , we don't need to worry about a new water pump or raiditor on our trip to Canada this year.

Feb 27, 2016 - THINGS GO WRONG

We went camping at a bluegrass festival near Brooksville , Florida last week , had a great time walking the trails in the state forest and running around doing geocaching. I saw a leak in the radiator on the ground while parking and took the truck over to the ford place to get it checked out. They had to replace the radiator and water pump, after three hours of walking around walmart and a few stores in the area, I got my truck back. I guess it is better to have it go out in town then on the road.

Feb 26, 2016 - Do Some Jeep Trails

We went to Withlacoochee state forest to drive on some jeep trails in the woods to look for some geocaches. We had a great time running around in the woods with my truck for the day.We drove back to the campground to see the bluegrass show for that night. That night the weather turned cold and the temp got down to 38 degrees after midnight. I turned on the heat in the trailer and it was blowing out cold air, I had run out of LP gas in my trailer tanks. We had a electric heater just in case we run out of LP gas. So the next day with out LP...

Feb 25, 2016 - Van Fleet Bike Trail

We went over to the Van Fleet Bike Trail to do some geocaching down the 27 miles of bike path. As we arrived at the trail head my check engine light came on, telling me that my engine was over heating. We got everything ready to go on the bike trail and worry about the engine after we get back from our ride. We found a lot of caches on the bike trail and had a great day. After returning from the bike trail , I checked out the engine light. NO WATER IN THE RADIATOR. I had a case of bottle water the the back of the truck, dumped the bottle...

Feb 23, 2016 - Trail Walking In Preserve

We drove over to Conner Preserve to do some trail walking and geocaching for the day. We found one geocache that was high in a tree , it was held up by fishing line over a limb in a tree that was ran over to another tree about 200 feet away. We found the airplane in the tree but had a heck of a time to see the fishing line running to another tree to be able to let the airplane down so we could sign the log sheet. We also found a turkey in the woods with a log sheet in side the poor thing !!!! We had fun walking the trails in the park. We...

THANKSGIVING TRIP

Apr 13, 2015 - Meanwhile, in CT ....

Patti here .... I left John holding down the fort at Camper's Holiday in Brooksville, FL early am last Thursday, flying out of Tampa and landing at the Hartford, CT airport....where the most amazing coincidence occurred! My daughter, Karen , who was supposed to have left Hartford much earlier (on an international flight to China to attend an Arts Exchange program), was still waiting for her plane - so we had a quick lunch together and I got to meet some of her teaching colleagues! Then I rented a car and drove to Hamden, CT to spend a week...
