Oct 31, 2014 - Hello Again Brandon!

We only drove about 60 miles for our next stop, and here we are at the Brandon Elks Lodge. We have 'City' stuff to do, such as Costco to stock up on some good steaks, wine, and a large list of 'Oh, lets try this'! :-) We will be guests here for a little over a week, give or take a few days.......Then we are off to Fort Desoto for 10 weeks or so! Jan 22, 2013 - Tampa RV Show, FL - 2013

Tampa RV Show here we come and leave the credit cards at home! We elected to stay at the Elks Lodge in Brandon, FL which is not too far from the Tampa RV show. What a great choice! One of the largest and very comfortable lodge RV parks we have stayed at yet. Only $17 for water and 30 amp with a dump on the property. This show is one of the biggest in the country. We attended the show 2 days. That was enough to see all the rigs we wanted to see and the 2 large buildings of vendors for spending money. We did pretty good in not spending too...

Nov 28, 2011 - Final Update until 2012

Christmas is almost upon us and we have been negligent in closing out this year’s blog, so here goes. We have barely had a chance to catch our breath since getting to Tampa. Our first weekend here Jean surprised me with a belated birthday party. A great time to catch up with many of our Tampa friends; I had no clue what was coming until I walked in the door. We Weicherding’s like to celebrate our birthdays and work them for as long as possible. Not knowing about the surprise party, I started the week by buying a new used truck. We had gone...

May 22, 2010 - Brandon, near Tampa

We left the farmland of Perry seeng horses and National Forests on our southbound journey. There were more palmettos and finally Orange Groves as we approached the Tampa area. Sam & Carolyn are traveling with us today and arrived at the Brandon Elks shortly after we were finished setting up. While in the lodge in the evening we were approached by a couple that recognized us from our 2006 trip. They are friends of the Elks in Pennsylvania that we camped with here in Brandon. They had just been looking at some photos from that time this...

Sep 24, 2009 - Arabi, GA to Brandon, FL

1pm departure, 85 degrees, sunshine, and the front air conditioning unit is not working. Finally in hot weather and the driver does not have A/C. Not sure what’s wrong, we’ll deal with it later. At least the back A/C is working! Another uneventful drive. Arrived at our destination about 8pm. Ron has a dentist appointment the end of the week and the outcome will determine our length of stay in Florida. I’ve developed a bad cold so I’m in no hurry to do any thing except sleep. “The only way to keep your health is to eat what you don’t want,...

1 tail light, 1 marker light, all dashboard lights. All out. Ron is working on them now. We're preparing for the 1100 mile one way trip to Branson. We're leaving in the morning!! Should be in Tallahassee tomorrow night....dinner at Spring Creek restaurant. We haven't been there since we moved from that area in 2001. Should be fun! Nov 15, 2006 - Tampa Bay

We arrived the other day at Brandon Elks Lodge near Tampa to join with a few of our PA friends who had driven down to Tampa to "winterize" their motorhomes in the sun. We enjoyed seeing them again and spending time. We enjoyed dinners at the Elks Lodge and the nearby Moose Lodge where one of our group took over when the entertainer wanted to take a break. George Ord took the guys guitar and picked a little song out for us. We checked with the local Elks members to find out what we should see in the area. They suggested Apollo Beach where we...
