Jul 12, 2006 - Washington DC

We didn't realise that we were pretty close to Washington ... only about 150 miles away. So we drove into Fredericksburg and spent the morning there. It was bad planning on our part as we were a day early. We had booked our accommodation for the 13th thinking that we needed a full two days driving. What we should have done is taken the scenic route and stopped off along the way. Oh well ..... Fredericksburg is a pretty historic town. This is where George Washington was born and he grew up. He also bought a house for his Mum, Mary, here...

Jul 3, 2006 - Millersville, Maryland

We traveled from Newburgh, New York to Millersville, Maryland today. On the way, we passed back through Scranton, Pennsylvania. From there, we went to Hershey, hoping to see the chocolate factory. Apparently, tours are not available--just a huge theme park nearby. There is a museum, but it closes at 6:00 and we wouldn't have had enough time to warrant the parking fee. Oh, well! We headed south and settled in at the KOA in Millersville. Millersville is near Baltimore and Annapolis, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. It will be our base camp...

Jun 26, 2006 - June 26-29, 2006 - Washington, DC/Alexandria, Virginia

June 25, 2006 - We arrived in Washington, DC the evening of the 25th. It was pouring and hot/humid there as well. Our room was on the 7th & top floor of the timeshare. We had a great view of all the rain and thunder and lightening storms as they came in. We brought our stuff in and then went grocery shopping at a Whole Foods Mart around the corner. We went into underground parking and rode an elevator up to shop in the store. We went swimming in the in-door pool. It was about 20 feet long, 12 feet wide and 3 feet deep and on the second...

May 1, 2006 - Our son brings us home...

The stay in Lucaya waiting for the wind to lay down lasted until Friday, 14 April. We spent the time comparing weather notes with the other cruisers and just generally being lazy. Our foray that Friday was intended as an afternoon run to West End or Memory Rock to anchor for the night. But, as we began to pick up a little of the gulf stream and the seas flattened out, we opted for an overnight to Cape Canaveral. The hope that there would be a customs agent at this major cruise ship port on the weekend proved false as we were informed at the...

Apr 28, 2006 - Greenbelt, Maryland

As we prepare to enter the the Washington DC area, it occurs to us that we need to have a plan. Granted, we spent months traveling around Florida without a real plan, but in this area the states are very small & close together! We knew that if we didn't have a general plan, then we could miss some sites that we want to see and spend alot more money than we'd like. I don't think I've mentioned before that I spent two years researching this fulltime traveler lifestyle. There are several online groups available that are very helpful & I copied...

Apr 21, 2006 - Home Sweet Home

We are back home. Overall, I'd say it was a great trip. Lots of great memories. Lots of lessons learned. We have a list of repairs both major and minor as long as my arm. May is going to be The Month of Michelle - birthday, dance recital, First Communion. I don't think we'll be camping much. I'm hoping we can get through our repair list, and try for a trip in June. Jim's pretty demoralized. Yesterday's leveller collapse really has him down.
