Aug 23, 2017 - Maury Cheaters & Cesar's - Aug. 15

On a dare I filled out the request to see a live taping of the Maury show. Our confirmation arrived via email so we booked a room in Stamford, CT and headed that way. It turned out to be one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in. Stamford is almost New York and has thousands of high rise apartment buildings. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance and even a three story Target store where we got pictures printed. It was a great location and only three blocks from the studio. We walked over and waited in line to have our bags...

The Long Way Home

Mar 19, 2012 - Back in the US

After a layover in Atlanta, GA, we finally touched down in New York. This trip was a once in a lifetime experience. I learned so much about Brazilian business and culture, and even managed to have a little fun. I've made a list of important take-aways: Brazil & Business: - Relationships are key - Brazilian business is slower (legal process to incorporate a company can take years) - It's important to learn Portuguese, as very few people speak English - Class (A,B,C,D) matters Brazilian Culture: - Soccer is life - Social culture...

MBA Trip to Brazil

Aug 28, 2011 - Stamford-Hurricane Irene

Day 16: Well it is now 11:30 and it looks like the storm has passed. It was relatively uneventful in this area. I think we got off pretty easy here as opposed to some communities in the vicinity. The winds were high and the rains were relentless but it is heading off north of us and the damage right here is minimal. I think the coastal areas are pretty beat up though. Now we have to decide what to do from here. The plan had been to go to The Hamptons but I think that is unlikely. We need to find out the extent of the damage and then decide....

30 Days on the Road

Aug 27, 2011 - Stamford CT storm watch

Day 15: Today is storm watch day in Stamford CT. We thought about evacuating since there is a lot of concern on the tv and in the media. We spoke to the desk at the hotel and asked if they had any evacuation orders. They have not had that and are preparing the rooms with flashlights and glow sticks in case of power outage. Otherwise there is not any worries from their perspective. I think we are better here than trying to drive away from the storm. It is too large and covering too much of an area to try and avoid it. May as well be dry and...

30 Days on the Road

Aug 25, 2011 - Stamford CT

Day 13: Checked out of the BW in New Haven and drove across I95 to Stamford. Only about an hour away. Drove right to Hotel zero degrees- a little boutique hotel in DT Stamford. Checked in and looked around the hotel and it was so nice we decided to stay for 4 days and do the NY thing remotely. It was raining so we went next door to an Irish pub for lunch. Tiernens. They had a restaurant week special for lunch. Soup and tuna melt for $10. We both had it. It was good and we were full. Had a couple of Guiness and did a crossword puzzle since...
