So when it is your birthday you get to do whatever it is that you’d like – weather permitting. This past Sunday for my 45th I was really hoping for some good kayaking weather. I figured a nice paddle, picnicking on the bank of some stream or spit of sand down on the Sound would be a great way to celebrate my special day. Unfortunately Mother Nature was being fickle and with tornado watches going on around the state, we figured that being on the water might not give us the maneuverability we’d be needing should the winds go all crazy on us. ...Jump to full entry
May 26, 2010 - First Family Campout!
We've had our new "used" camper for about a month now. The kids (as well as myself) wanted to sleep in it the first night we got it home. However, with the weather very raw and a heating system that I hadn't yet had the opportunity to clean or safety test, I was reluctant. Then came the promised "hookey day" which turned out rainy and raw as well, which translated to almost an entire month of having a camper that we hadn't slept in. What a shame! There are few things like that first trip in your new camper! The excitement of being in a new place, experiencing familiar haunts in an unfamiliar way and discovering the nooks and crannies of the forest or the beach or the backyard get me going! It is always an adventure whenever we hook up the camper and hit the road. And spending our 18th wedding anniversary in our family's "new" used camper seemed just the ticket!
