Aug 26, 2013 - There are winners and losers at the casino

We went to the Mohegan Sun casino and had a great time. Paul was a winner and I was a loser...so we came out even. This casino was larger than any Las Vegas casino. It was probably three times as large. It was new and modern and I helped pay for some of it today! I will say no more$$$$$$

Jul 15, 2012 - Mystic Seaport Conn

We spent seven days in Mystic Seaport with our son Arthur and his family, Sharon's Mom, and Sharon's brother Mark and his family. We had three campsites together and shared meals and a fireside chat every night. We rode our bikes daily around the campsite (it was mostly flat), went on walks and enjoyed everyone's company. Sharon went on a wine tour visiting local winery's. We now have officially been coast to coast.

Sep 24, 2011 - Mashantucket Pequot Museum

A few years ago Tom and I spent hours at this museum and didn't see it all. Mary mentioned that she had never been there so, since the weather has been nothing but crappy since I arrived, we decided to spend the day indoors at the museum. Once again, after 4 hours, we had only done about 75% of the place. The museum is devoted to the history and culture of the Pequot Indian tribe and all the other eastern woodland tribes. The story begins in the last ice age and continues to the present. Storytelling by natives captured on film,...

Jul 13, 2011 - Happy

Twice during our stay in England I was assailed with statistics about the low numbers of Americans who have passports. The first time I was asked by the lady at the laundrette, in tones of incredulous indignation, "Is it true that only 30% of Americans have passports?" Within days the statistic grew more dire, when I was asked at the ball in Bath if it was true that 90% of Americans don't have passports. I could only say I didn't know, because I have no idea how many Americans have passports (even a google search turns up differing...

Jun 23, 2011 - Dreaming

I am basically a homebody. I can go days without going farther from my house than the mailbox, especially in the winter. I don't travel much, and that's fine with me, because there are many things about travel that don't appeal to me - specifically, the traveling part. I do like to see places and things that are different, beautiful, curious, interesting - the internet may be able to show you almost anything, but some things you just have to see for yourself. I always wanted to see the Aurora Borealis, for instance, and figured that some...

Sep 13, 2010 - Bob & Linda Fall 2010

Time has come for us to hit the road again. As we think back, the hot summer has gone by too fast here in Connecticut and we didn't get to see and do all we had planned but thats the way it is when you don't have much free time. We welcome you to join us as we head west with our new wheels and explore the National Parks of Utah before heading to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta in New Mexico.

May 14, 2009 - ready set goooooo!

The transition from Cypress 1(the 5th wheel) to Sir landsalot (the truck camper in the picture of us) is finally complete. This downsizing thing is really quite complicated. We now have no idea where anything is, we just know we have it (I hope and if we still can't find it, there's always Wally World). The truck grunted and groaned twice when we dropped Sir landsalot on, just hope its ready to roll on tomorrow. Well, we're of to bed, raining pretty good here (in Ct) right now. Probably won't sleep much, we're pretty keyed up right now and...

May 11, 2009 - Pizza Party

PARTY TIME We arrived at Odetah Campground about 3:00 p.m. with no significant navigator errors, thanks to plugging in the GPS (well----it also helps that we were here last year and knew where we were going). Weather was cool and windy, but this area has been getting plenty of rain so everything is very green. We got set up in short order and then were off to catch up on gossip. We figured we would start with Carol and Jim Higgins, a sure bet to have a spare beverage. We hung out with them until it was nearly time to go for pizza in the...

May 20, 2008 - First Week at Work

May 15 – 20 First Week of Work We just finished our first work week and one day weekend, so it is time to bring you up-to-date on the comings and goings of the Weicherdings. Jean is taking it easy again this year, sitting (not – I stand more than I sit, besides, they only have 2 hard wood-seated stools to sit on. Not too comfortable) behind a counter while I do the heavy lifting (yea, branches, twigs, stuff like that). She was assigned 2 days off while I was to get just one day off. She thought more about it though and volunteered to plant...
