Jun 8, 2019 - Hammonasett state park

Another day of driving and we made it to Connecticut. We stopped in Guilford and saw a saltbox exactly like ours. Drove on to Hammonasett park to camp and met neighbors from Yonkers who were there at 9/11. Bill and his family used to come here to the beach in the 60's. Sunny and 72 which is wonderful after 90s in Georgia!

Aug 25, 2014 - Hammonasset Beach State Park

Our second beach for the day was the Hammonasset Beach State Park near Madison, Connecticut. We arrived just a few minutes after they closed the Nature Center which was a shame, however, they left the restrooms open so that was a blessing! The Snack Shack was still open after we arrived and we were looking forward to at least a hot dog for dinner, however, since they were going to close soon, the only thing they would sell us was soda, nachos or ice cream. We decided on the nachos and a coke since it was the closest thing to food. At least...

Jul 19, 2009 - The Hitch Trip to CT

On July 19 Jerry and I left home without Holly to go to CT. Our mission - to have a hitch installed on our RV so we can tow a car. Unfortunately, Holly had to stay home but she was well cared for by our neighbors. The weather was perfect - sunny but not too hot. Jerry drove his Honda and Linda drove the RV to Hammonasset Beach State Park where we camped. We had sailed to the Thimble Islands many years ago and so wanted to go back. We took a 45 minute boat ride on the Sea Mist. There are about 25 inhabited islands just off the shoreline...
